Fun fact: The (National) Police Gazette was published from 1845 to 1977. (It is not to be confused with the British newspaper of the same name, which dates back to 1772!)
Was the lift I needed Man.
I'm in a very very bad state.
This cheered me up.
Take care
Wishing you better days ahead.
24:11 “New country” isn’t country. My coworkers always have it on at work, and it drives me crazy.
Whenever I go music shopping with someone I always find myself going "Oh, I have that on..." and what's usually worse is the fact that that usually ends in "... eight track," which I think puts off a lot of audiophiles around me in record shops
Ben, Pat the nes punk and lgr are the flea market video trifecta.
I do prefer the Costello variety. In steereo too.
Watching this video before going to work at goodwill makes me more excited to work
Thrifting in a new city! Awesome! Great video Ben!
Why do I get the feeling that if you'd moved to anywhere in North East England, you'd suddenly get a sudden compulsion to buy every Dire Straits and Lindisfarne album you could get your hands on?
Another good episode, and love how you slipped in that Happy Hamster soundbite @ 20:03!
3:01 If you were interrogating me and wanted me to confess to anything, just put this album on repeat and I'll sing like a canary.
This would make a nice companion piece to Episode 129.
It was interesting to see the variation in thrifting in Sioux Falls and how it compares to beautiful downtown Aurora. My, they certainly do like their Elvis and CED discs here, don't they?
You shouldn't worry about having enough footage, there were plenty and it made for an enrapturing watch. Plus, you picked up a couple of candidates for the next Record Rip Offs, making it a worthwhile trip.
Love those vintage cameras!
Wow flashbacks.
The sun, globe and other Supermarket tabloids with the headlines.
ELVIS IS ALIVE AND FOUND.
AHHH the 80's.
Good memories.
Great stuff Ben, maybe not the luckiest finds, but it’s still a joy to watch your hunt
I live near Boise Idaho and I have the same issue. Thrift stores suck and no flea markets. The only thrift store that's any good is St. Vincent's. I've probably gotten more stuff from them in the last month than from the others in a whole year.
I love fleamarkets! I’m a hunter for nostalgia as well!
My local flea market closed. The only thing left is a building with a weathering sign that says ‘FLEA M.’
YES! MORE THRIFTING WITH BENNY BOY!
I don't touch alcohol, but I love Hamm's beer signs, it's amazing what those things are worth now! Dare I ask what they wanted for the sign you found?
Don't remember the Press Scimitar when I lived in Memphis but remember the Commercial Appeal. There was a reason we called it the Commercial Repeal😁cool stash you brought back
"Never My Love" was recorded by a few artists. I've never heard of The Chellows but they version done by The Sandpebbles is one I like a lot.
I've got a Happy Days "Fonzie's Favorites" LP that has a bunch of 50s rock pop standards, original, thank God. There's also the Happy Days theme and "Do the Fonzerelli" as well as a track that's supposed to teach you how to talk like the Fonz. It's basically Henry Winkler going, "Ayyyyyy, sit on it! Cool it nerd!" to the Happy Days theme.
@26.10 my god i had one of those viewmaster projectors as a kid.. i got it for Christmas one year.. man talk about memories :P
Darn. I was hoping for an episode on former Ravens and 49ers quarterback Elvis Grbac.
The Antique Store looks like Sanford and Son Junkyard hahaha
I'm actually kind of envious of those thrifts and flea markets you visited in this episode. I haven't been lately (need to fix that), but the thrift stores in my neck of the woods have been thin the last several times I went. Of course I'm also always going expecting to score something like a midcentury console hi-fi or something that I know I can't afford and don't really have room for but I want one anyway ...
You would probably need a pre 1998 mac with the old style serial port and a copy of Mac Os pre OSX to use the Quicktake
It's a shame I can't hook it up to my Newton. 😀
OddityArchive I would seek out a Powerbook 1400 or an early G3 with the Geoport Serial port, if you ever wanted to mess around with this hardware. Also you're probably right about the whole dumping the CED up in the upper midwest thing. Figure that they were almost always made in Indianapolis, and that was the nearest market that probably didn't get saturated with the negative press of the system allowing for easy dumping.
Looking forward to the future Record Rip-Offs.
So glad to see another thrifting episode! I’m sorry your area isn’t the greatest for that.
Hope you'll get unuff for episode 5 soon .
Great vid can't wait till your next vid .
25:05 My first camera was an Instamatic 124!
Somebody needs to make a video of Elvis parodies from various sitcoms and cartoons
At 25:06- is that a flash cube? I always get a weird synesthesia impulse to eat them, it's like a buzzing cold humming crunchy sensation I don't get from anything else, eeeeeeiiiiiyyyy flash cube!
Ooooh, all those old phones and cameras and black Viewmasters are just so beautiful.
Taco John's put out a cd? I love Taco John's, wish I still lived near one.
If you’re ever willing to make the drive a little further south, I know of a flea market in Sioux City that might be worth checking. Had some really neat stuff, but it’s been a while since I was in that specific part of town, so I can’t gurantee anything. Also, a lot of stuff there was kind of overpriced, so It might not be worth the price of gas. But hey, I’m just trying to throw some ideas.
what is this „super service all aboard“ red vinyl at 25:44? maybe a 16inch transcription record? by the way.. the 78s are a very nice find!
It caught my attention too. It was only a 12" nor did it have a pricetag.
you should have asked for the price then.. maybe its just a buck, but worth a million to the archive 😁👍🏻 cheers
Given that it was at an antique mall, I doubt the person at the only checkout counter in the place would be willing to price something without the consent of the owner of that particular booth, so I didn't bother.
Foghat Molly Hatchet and Deep Purple Mmmm good albums.
Elton John they had some good picks.
So much thrifting, like LGR. but in Ben's laid back mode.
Lucky if you find any Led Zeppelin albums in that bin of records.
You know what? I actually have the Rosemary's Baby MAD and I used to own the Star Trek the Musical issue, but that probably got destroyed over the years.
Ooh I saw a Pointer Sisters record. So its not all country in SD, lol.
NO WAY TO CONTROL IT
ITS TOTALLY AUTOMATIC
Hey I saw the Elvis items how much do you want for them
Do you have any movie serials in your collection? On any format ???
I have a partial "Perils of Pauline" on 8mm.
"She's gone with the Hula Hula boys, she don't care about me"
Have you seen the horn blows at midnight staring Jack Benny I have the radio version and think it's ok
But I've never seen the movie ?
Yes, I've seen it. It's nowhere near as bad as Jack Benny made it out to be--perfectly watchable.
Maybe you can find a flea market that's just like that's just like a mini mall.
South Dakota??? Ughhh. So sorry, Ben. And I thought Idaho was bad.
hello ben! since you're doing themed episodes, did you ever consider one on dinosaurs? toys, comics, whatever?
Didn't want that chris Gaines cd?
Along with BATBOY!
what ever happened to batboy.
One will never know.
Elvis Presley vs evil cowboy mummy need I say more .

Coming soon /maybe the theaters some time in the future.
1 dollar for Zevon ? That's highway robbery !
As revealed in Men In Black, "Elvis didn't die, he just went home..."
Just curious: Where do you get the funds for this treasure hunt?
this is not actual thrift shopping, I found the prices way to high.
can i please buy your 78's
I think Sousfall is trying to indoctrinate Benny with all this Elvis.
Go to garage sales, that your best bet.
Garage sales in Colorado sucked, they're even worse here.
@@OddityArchive really? Im suprised, go a bit North easy and they are everywhere heck even in my small City there is a junk, trinkets store here, if you ever travel to the west side of Minnesota give me a holler
Have you stopped growing up yet ?
Elvis is OK I like some of his music.
But more of a Beatles fan.
And a nip pic that I have about Elvis is he shouldn't be the king of rock and roll.
That Crown should always go to Chuck Berry.
And I won't get into that topic cuz it pisses people off.
So hay bring on that flea market.
9:55 MUST RESIST TRUMP JOKE
Elvis is dead..
No. I just seen him hanging with Jim Morrison Tupac and Kurt Cobain at the Golden Corral a few days ago.
I can prove it oh shoot I didn't take pictures nevermind.
I am a Christian and I like watching your videos but if you're going to keep showing me Porn magazines I'm going to stop watching you I do not appreciate it and I think you should warn people if you're going to show that garbage in your videos
