- You’ll be green with envy over these finds…or not.
NOTE: @8:40 - Yes, I know it's "Ernie" and not "Emil". I clearly can't read cursive anymore.

That “Proud Mary” rendition puts Tina Turner to shame.
I’m glad I found this channel again I’ve watched every episode from old to present this last week
Oh man, Dad & the Brown Boys do not disappoint! Pure gold there.
That Eddie Murphy tape was actually probably worth a few bucks on eBay, the CD is outlandish
I HATE St. Patrick's Day. It's hardly lucky for me, and I rarely drink. And when I do, it's not beer. That Garfield DVD is quite a find. It goes for a fortune if you buy it from certain websites. I had to buy a reissue of 9 Lives, and it didn't come with either of the other specials. Just "In the Rough." Also, I'm pretty sure that "Smile" sticker is something they brand into your flesh if you're unfortunate to ever have to work retail. It really should say "take all the abuse the customer can heap on you, you can do all your crying at home."
Dad and the Brown Boys feels like the Shaggs did a collab with Eddie Korosa
Man, between Garfield, Ernest and Ghostbusters that's quite an '80s night.
Well You Might Have To Turn Your *Sioux Falls Cable Television* (Yes That's The Name Of Sioux Falls' Cable Back Then) From 11 To 13 Over And Over At Some Point...
The miak joke at the end, perfect Ernest joke. Eartha Kitt is great in that movie.
I love your thrifting videos. The ones here in my area don't have a lot of vintage audio visual equipment or other interesting items like yours.
That Short Circuit box was pretty clean and I definitely owned it as a kid, I would have grabbed it just to have, I do love both Short Circuit movies.
Thought I recognized those thrift stores! Good to see another Sioux Falls UA-camr - really enjoy your channel!
I have Garfield fantasies on dvd mainly to add to my animation collection
I love the Garfield specials
_Dad and the Brown Boys_ sounds like something out of Regular Car Reviews.
14:08 I have that exact release of Ghostbusters sitting on my desk right now.
That DVI output on the back of that video switcher would make it actually pretty useful! It's designed for old Pioneer HDTVs that only had a DVI input on the display -- they moved all the inputs, switching, tuner, etc. electronics to the box so they could make the display thinner and better at being wall-mounted. Since the monitor can't handle copy protection, the switcher actually strips it all before sending it out the DVI port.
To The Moon is an awesome set. The radio communication is split to left and right with command on one channel and the Apollo module on the other.
I once told a teenager that the "N" setting on a record player was so you could rewind the record when you were done. I know that was mean, but the kid also couldn't understand how movie film worked (Its just a bunch of still pictures? How can they move?) So he wasn't trying very hard either..
My GF is Irish and her band is performing in DC today.
Cool..
So this is what the Peanuts gang sings after dark.
ahaha
13:48, one of my all time faves, even bought a resin model from a freind of mine of number 5.
I like how that wierd band sounds like the Brady Bunch singing in a mediocre way with The Ventures and Lawrence Welk as back up band.
I honestly don't know if anybody really cares about this, but believe it or not, that Teddy Geiger sighting at 10:35 inadvertently inspired me to learn more about her, listen to that one big single ("For You I Will (Confidence)"), and eventually purchase a copy of the very album seen here. I've since replaced it with the deluxe "Look Where We Are Now" edition, despite not even finding the time yet to give the original release a listen, because music collecting.
10:35 - Wow, Darren Hayes' Spin. I don't know why i have a soft spot for his solo albums, but I do. They're all like experimental electronic pop. (For mild context, Darren Hayes is the vocalist from Savage Garden. Yes, that Australian 90s one.)
17:44 Quite the find, eh Benny? 😅
9:15 The Music Machine! Five-year-old me was subjected to that album many times over.
14:00 You got a great value on that.
(I know at least someone here is going to get that reference)
The thrift stores in my town in England have been closed since early December. They all still have their Christmas displays in the window which is very creepy.
FYI, there actually is a website that sells newly made regular 8mm film stock. They also develop it for you if you send it back. It's a little spendy if you plan to do it regularly, no surprise there, but if you just want to experiment with the format a bit it is possible. They also sell and develop Super 8 if that's your thing, although it's only the silent film. Super 8 with sound is still extinct as far as I'm aware. If you're interested, the website is filmphotographystore.com
I've still actually got my (long-gone) grandfather's standard 8mm camera--I will definitely check it out. :)
I really hope that Ted Nugent 8 Track is legit and it can become functional. I would love to hear some second rate hacks doing some Sweaty Teddy. Tell Sergei I look forward to his next show.
New Oddity Archive on my birthday? Why thank you!
Happy Birthday!
Thanks!
I used to have one of those Tony Little Gazelles.. actually liked using it. Just so big and bulky..
Very good video no matter what day you posted it.
Gotta love that big orange cat. 😍
The black and white Garfield cartoon has to be Garfield Babes and Bullets, I taped it off TV way back in the late 80s/early 90s, it was a good cartoon. Unfortunately, the recording is loooong gone. If only I knew then how valuable old recordings would become to internet archivists, and I don't have anything older than 1996.
It was hard to watch you pass right by the Degrassi Junior High box set.
Funny thing is that I had a random thought about whether I could spot Degrassi junior high in the DVD section and not only was it there but he even mentions it
18:24 "THIS SEGMENT IS OVER."
And it lasted about as long as a guy who would need that Pro-Stay Kreme! 😆
The audiocassette selection at Savers looks very much like a lady who's into ladies donated at least half of it
Hey I'm from Saskatchatoon...I mean Saskatoon Saskatchewan.
15:45 - *radiotvphononut* would like this. Sure has a purty platter!
16:04 - Was it worst than those Aromadiscs?
Far worse. I didn't think hair products could ferment.
If that was me I would have bought every single cassette lol
Did you get some of Hank Williams pain songs, Newberry's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin in the Rain to go with your Jerry Jeff?
Wow, you used a naughty word? What the duck? 😆
Just imagine the hair that camera has been forced witness.
I watched this video wondering exactly vwhether Degrassi Junior High would be in the DVD section and lo and behold...
I whooda bought that Ted Nugent 8 track . Just to have . Not that i have any plans on buying an 8 track player . cool find .
can you post the entire dad and the brown boys LP?
Garfield ...fantasieesss❤❤❤
Quick Question: Was that the same model of 8mm film camera that Zapruder used to film the JFK assassination? I remember reading Abe Zapruder had a Bell & Howell 8mm camera on him on the fateful day, and I think that camera shown in your video happened to be the same model as I remember seeing and reading that he used.
If It Is, Benny Should've Get That Camera For Its Entirely...
17:26 - what's that masking for?
New Ben vid! YES!
I think ebay has ruined thrift stores. And even Goodwill puts the good stuff for auction. It defeats the purpose.
Agreed, Goodwill prices have gone stupid, but I think eBay might have just started it's own downfall as they announced by 2023 they will remove Paypal as a payment option(they claim better customer service, and lower fees, till I see proof I'm calling it BS) in favor of a Dutch company called adyan which requires full bank/credit union details to make an account, where as with paypal you can just have the account seperate which many sellers/buyers do, and just spend the money online as fun money.
I hope a good alternative to eBay pops up that takes Paypal, as I do find some good deals on eBay like used cell phones, the odd electronics parts, etc..
Hey don't be dissing short circuit I loved that movie
With a name like Minotte I'd expect you to be French lol.
According to family lore, it was Menotti (which is Italian) up until the early 20th century. It was changed to sound less ethnic.
