I don't know if this bit of information will help you, but on these older systems, the first time you run a program, it takes a long time to load. And when you go to start the program a second time, it normally loads up faster, because it's already in system memory. I noticed that behavior on the start menu a long time ago.

Something i feel like most people forget is that earlier versions of NT (pre 2000 iirc) had native support for MIPS, which makes me surprised that someone hasn't tried to get NT working natively on PSP hardware because of that. Then again, it would probably be really impractical and NT isn't necessary the most well documented.
There are probably a few background processes you could end to get some more speed. Like after you open an app you could close explorer using taskman, if you can open taskman.

This is old news. I had windows 95 running on my psp a decade ago, it would boot and was absolutely useless. But none the less it was always good fun to show it off to friends for a laugh. The author continues his attempt to install Windows on a PSP, this time using a different version of DOSBox specifically designed for running Windows 95 or 98 on the PSP. After several challenges and crashes, the author is finally able to get Windows 95 installed and booted, albeit very slowly. Once in the Windows 95 desktop, the author struggles to open the Start menu and launch Solitaire, the main goal of the experiment. The mouse cursor drifts and the system becomes unresponsive, but the author is able to briefly get Solitaire running before the system crashes again. Overall, the author succeeds in getting a basic Windows 95 installation running on the PSP, but faces significant performance and stability issues.
