It's kinda fascinating how a majority of guy reacters I've seen always favor Gale or think he's endgame for Katniss, and all the girls I know who've seen the movie always favor Peeta from the start
Just a theory I have but Gale is a character who skews more towards the male gaze, in a lot of ways. He has more of the "hard skills" - he can hunt, he can provide food for her and her family, etc. and those are needs in a world like this. Peeta provides a lot of emotional enlightenment and clarity for Katniss (he's generally very good with people, connecting, etc.) but that's largely overlooked by a lot of the guys I see react to these films haha. Like it's not even an option that she would go for the person who made her realize what it meant to feel emotionally safe.
I mean, the thing is, is that Gale starts out favored by Katniss, and she doesn't start with many feelings for Peeta, so it does make sense for the viewer to favor him at first. I have a very strong tendency to ship characters based on their actual preferences shown in the media, rather than trying to impose my own pairing on it.
God help you in your future relationships. If you think throwing a burnt loaf of bread in the mud makes a better love interest than being a friend, confidant, and hunting buddy helping Katniss feed her family for years, you'll probably end up with a bare minimum man, too.
Something that’s important to remember with the romance is that they are 16/17. Katniss has never thought of romantic love in any real way for herself until she is forced into the games
Everybody is already ranting about Katnisses feelings, so I'll just leave a little fun fact (not really) here: Haymitch participated in the 50th Hunger Games, the second quarter quell. The gimmick of those games was that they would reap twice as many kids for the games, so Haymitch had 47 competitors. He also won the games by using a forcefield, which the capitol didn't like, and as a totally logical and fair consequence, they killed his family and girlfriend for that. That's why Haymitch is an alcoholic. (Well, that and 23 years of mentoring other kids from his district who were always sure to die)
Also why Katniss was so against getting married and having kids and a family when she got older. She didn’t want to go through the loss, pain and stress of having Hunger Game aged kids. Also why I think she was so reluctant to identify and accept her feelings for Peeta
@@whyistheskyblue9422yes! Fans have been wanting a haymitch book for forever so I’m so glad to have it coming. There’s an awesome fan made film on yt depicting it as well
Well, nothing about Haymitch's family getting murdered was "fair" or "logical". There was no rule that said he couldn't use the forcefield. Snow was just pissy and evil that Haymitch found a loophole he wasn't he trying for.
The kiss on the beach was very much a real kiss and not for the cameras. Katniss really does realize in that moment how much she needs Peeta for the first time. She literally says "I realize only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me." Without her inner dialogue it is a little hard to know but I think the rising in emotional music is trying to express that.
I've never read the books myself, but even without the added context given in the books, to me at least it was pretty obvious that by the time that Peeta nearly dies after hitting the force field that Katniss is in love with him.
@@bsvlogs3753 A lot of people just don't have good comprehension of what they're reading/watching. I don't mean that in an insulting way, more in a statistical way.
lol you two are deep in the friendzone mindset. katniss was forced into these romances by haymitch on one hand and by gale on the other. she wasn’t in love with either of them until she developed feelings for peeta throughout the second games, seeing as he truly loves and understands her like no one else. gale feels entitled to her in some way, meanwhile she’s just trying to survive.
The films do a bad job, I've never read the books, but out of the love triangle, Peeta is the only real expressive one so without dialogue the audience has no idea what the characters want or need. Gale is presented as Katniss' partner and as a humble and sweet guy (we only get a few lines and even less scenes) so it doesn't even look like there's any motivation for her to want Peeta when all he does in the first two films is throw tantrums about Katniss not wanting him. The way the films do it, it looks like Peeta badgered Katniss into a relationship by emotionally manipulating her which Katniss' blank face and stilted body language sell more than any real feelings being felt imo.
@@Shelaboratorthe films don’t do that bad a job, it’s just some people genuinely aren’t that good at comprehending the difference in performances. Most people knew immediately that katniss loved peeta due to her reaction when he hit the force field. Jennifer Lawrence’s performance when katniss is “acting” vs when she isn’t is so night and day it’s baffling someone couldn’t see it lmao
@@jaysax7381 how do u take that peeta is toxic and manipulating out of the movie?? i never read the books and the first time i watched it it was obvious that she felt awkward with gale and was confused, also jlaw performance its good, if u actually see her, the subtlety on how she reacts to things you can guess a lot of her feelings towards things and the boys
Gale isn’t Katniss primary love interest. Gale is in love with katniss and while she does have love for him based on their shared history she isnt “in love” with him. She kisses him to comfort him & bc she knows he wants that from her not bc of any real desire. She doesn’t want a romantic rlsp with anyone bc she saw how her mother fell apart when her father died and she doesn’t want that kind of connection or to depend on anyone that much. As for Peeta, she isn’t in a place where she can process what she is starting to feel for him. She knows he has this fundamental goodness that she is drawn to and she thinks he can be good for the world in a way she can’t be. She also feels like she owes him bc that burnt bread saved her family from starvation. The kisses, when he almost died and on the beach were both very genuine. In the book she talks about how kissing peeta makes her stomach flutter, something she never felt with gale. Her feelings about love and romance are all jumbled up with her grief for her father & frustration with her circumstance. And the fact that now she is forced to be the face of rebellion at 17 risking not just her life but both guys she cares for just makes everything harder for her to work out.
@@briannedoudiet6150exactly! The show left a lot of ppl wondering why she was so desperate to save him. The confusion stems from them not explaining how important the bread scene was. And bc there are no voiceovers many didn’t understand the difference in how she felt when she kissed Gale compared to the visceral reaction she had to kissing peeta. Or even how significant it was the she slept next to peeta or in his arms most nights. Sadly those bits get lost in translation
@@briannedoudiet6150 agreed, the movies leave some people thinking she liked gale as well and/or more than Peeta. I can't even really blame them, because the first two movies definitely make it look like that if you haven't read the books.
35:11 something i didn't realize until...many many watches later is Effie says 'show them we are a team.' their last names spell TEAM. Trinket, Everdeen, Abernathy, Mellark. its a fun little thing to notice.
I think they just don't understand that Katniss & Gale are only friends before the first games. It seems like people mistake them for being in a relationship
@@alliekattt9469 yea, the movies definitely keep Gale & Katniss' relationship more ambiguous, to push the love triangle, so people tend to assume they're already together!
I feel like sometimes people forget that Katniss was only 16 when she won the games so the phrase "I don't want anyone looking to me" hits me every time. She's just a teenager who is living with such a large burden now while needing to deal with the trauma she went through. Meanwhile adults and kids alike are looking at her like that strong beacon of hope who could go against a government. She's just a girl and they expected so much from her. That isn't fair.
Even the Arena this time was like a very specific message to Katniss -- 'tick, tock (your time is up)' and especially having so much water, not the right place for a Girl on Fire.
The water was also to give Finnick an edge since his district revolves around water and they wanted him to help her get out to be the mockingjay. Also, that's the reason he knew how to do CPR and Katniss looks confused at first about what he was doing. (Details in the book. She didn't know about cpr)
@@Noah_McLennan wow cause president snow couldn’t possibly have changed the theme 😂 he definitely came up with picking the tributes from the living victors for the quarter qual im sure he could change the theme of the arena to send a message to katniss
@amayacrockett3458 I agree, he definitely changed how they choose the victors. Doesn't change the fact that Plutarch actually said to katniss that this arena has been being developed for years.
@@Noah_McLennan the arena had been developed for years but they chose that specific arena for katniss to send her the message (with the arena being a clock) that her time is up
something interesting to note, effie's character is SO well written in the movies that the transformation of the capitols power is seen through effies outfits and style. For instance, the butterfly dress signifying tranformation and re-birth in contrast to when we first see her, covered in makeup, bright colours with black illustrating the dominance and darkness of the capitol. She is a very interesting character to analyse and compare with the transformation of the movies.
Yea, she's a great character and they also translate her character effectively from book to screen. In the books, Katniss is pretty soft towards Effie and her and Peeta's stylists because she understands the damage done to them by the system. They may be privileged and sitting atop an oppressive and brutal power structure but they're also kept dumb and helpless and pampered. Katniss pities many of the people in the capital she could just as easily hate. The fact that Jack and Dan were able to see Effie as a kind of victim in her own right shows how well that concept was shifted from page to screen. Effie's internal transformation is emblematic of what the other capital citizens could become once you take off the leopard print fur handcuffs and introduce them to reality. Katniss sees the shades of gray at play that certain other characters might not.
Peeta is the GOAT. It was Peeta's idea to fake a relationship and Katniss just kind of goes along with it during the series until she doesn't. ALSO, Gale is a very dynamic character, and not always right. Every character in this series has their own weird motivations that don't really come to light until the very last movie.
I'm gonna add a bit of stereotyping here but male gaze vs female gaze is a thing. It makes a lot of guys think Gale is a love interest while we're here cheering for Peeta. It's sad how society taught you that Gale's type of masculinity is so much more valuable and desirable than Peeta's that he's automatically the one for Katniss
And the thing is the ones producing the movie wanted Gale and the "love triangle" to be more than what it really was, that's why they sidelined Peeta so fucking much and gave more screen to Gale, the funny thing is with all that Peeta still won over the fans 😂
You're here cheering for Peeta because you think tossing a burnt loaf of bread in the mud is more valuable than a confidant, friend, and hunting buddy, like Gale has been all those years when Peeta was forming this one sided romance with Katniss without ever speaking to her. God help you in your future relationships if you think that's healthy.
@Br0nto5aurus Being a hunting buddy and a confidant does not automatically mean endgame romantic interest, which is what Gale and some readers instantly assumed. Thank you for worrying about my future relationships, tho. I'm sure my current husband needs to be aware of my literary preferences dooming our marriage lol
34:38 the reason they didn't kill off anyone from district 12 when doing the three-fingers sign was because this sign is a traditional district 12 sign. They do that in a form to sat "goodbye" to someone. So when other districts did it, it was a sign of rebellion, meanwhile at 12 its a goodbye sign (that also had an underlying rebellion hint).
Even though Cinna is innocent I actually appreciate that they were cautious of an older man with power around a child (presumably 16 year old Katniss). Keep it up guys!
Same. I understood why they might think that way. Sadly you see that happen with adults who have power a child/teen. Like someone said, the books went more in depth on who Cinna was and why he was nice to Katniss. Just like I can understand why they think Gale was Katniss's true love. Love movies like this where you don't really know what is really going on.
Gluttonous doesn't even BEGIN to describe how I'm going to treat this video😂. Beyond thrilled to watch you boys experience one of the greatest sequels in all of cinema history!
Sorry on the delay with this one, copyright really didn't like this video 😅 Got a few muted sections as a result, but i hope that you'll still enjoy it! 😊
These are difficult for all the reactors to do. Music does kick off copyright problems often. Don't forget to save Joanna too with your Peeta extraction mission.
I love how you guys wanted Mags to be protected. “Get granny a bed.” Her death in the book isn’t just her walking and disappearing, Katniss describes her as doing “a twisted dance” as she has full-body spasms and contorts on the ground. Poor granny ;(
It's made more explicit in the books, but Gale and Peeta are symbolic of war and peace and Katniss choosing the life she wants to live! As it stands, she's unable to commit to Gale because their relationship is dangerous and Peeta because despite putting on the facade because the circumstances surrounding their relationship are so twisted and unjust that she can't pick apart what she genuinely loves about him vs. what she's supposed to feel for him - it's a mirror of her position in District 12, and how she doesn't want a rebellion on the surface because of the risk it poses to her family but simultaneously can't embrace the unjust, oppressive peace the Capitol is offering. It's significant that now that the war has begun, Gale is the first person to tell her about the loss of her home and they've left Peeta behind for whatever the Capitol is going to do to him.
Of all the books, this one was my favorite by far because of how much Katniss' whole world shifted. Not only was she dealing with PTSD from her previous games, this book was also where she realized her feelings for Peeta only for The Capitol to take him at the end, and also where the revolution efforts begin. And she was barely 17 years old through all that.
You are the first reactors I’ve seen note the shift in Effie at 34:05. It’s subtle but has always been so important. You can see her be physically relieved for a second when she pulls Haymitch’s name, no one wanted Peeta to go back in.
Mags won the 11th games and at this point was the oldest surviving victor, she was also the first to enjoy the perks of victory and suffer all the mistreatment at the hands of the capitol, before her victors were simply shipped back to the districts and that was that, there was no villa or any sort of celebrity status or money prize. Haymitch actually participated in the 50th games, meaning he was part of a Quarter Quell, the second QQ was particularly brutal as each district had to present FOUR tributes instead of two, which means 47 kids died in the games that year, and Haymitch himself barely survived.
Yeah even than haymitch may have “won” but he still payed he price for winning with snow killing Everyone he loved for that so called “win” it broke him.
I can see a lot of people have already pointed out that Katniss gives in to genuine feelings for Peeta during these games, but I'm going to acknowledge that you are absolutely going to see Katniss giving mixed signals (more so to Gale, tbh). On top of the fact that she's 16, this series explores the impact of trauma really accurately. Katniss is not in touch with her emotions, she has needed to detach from them to survive. When she tries to convince Gale to run away with their families he asks if she loves him and she says she can't think of anyone like that right now because she's focused on survival (for her and her loved ones). Gale doesn't hear her and constantly wants her to show him she loves him. She genuinely doesn't know when/if she's in love. Peeta is one of the greatest male love interests ever, and I'd definitely say the primary love interest. An interesting thing about Peeta is that he's a fantastic example of a "female gaze" love interest, he's emotionally intelligent, communicative, supportive, kind, and yet incredibly strong with a remarkable sense of self. Gale is like the classic "male gaze" love interest, the one we're told we're supposed to want by (mostly) male writers. You'll notice many women watching this series can't stand him. He's possessive and pouty about not getting enough attention from someone who's fighting to save everyone around her (including him). But he's also brave, loyal, protective and overall a good guy (some people might argue with me on that latter point, and they'd have valid reasons). Men usually respond quite well to Gale and figure he's the guy Katniss must want. And maybe Katniss used to think Gale made the most sense (IF she was interested in any relationship at all) until the games and Peeta...
verrrry great point. I want to reread the series--I haven't revisited the books since they came out (it's been more than a decade), and I've forgotten a lot of how both Peeta and Gale were written and how Katniss felt about them both. I only remember being completely emotional about Peeta and Katniss's relationship (so I know their love story had to have had some depth to get me that way). You're so spot on about the male and female gaze, too. I totally see that.
@@passionable90 Thanks! Honestly it's been a while since I read the books too, I read them twice, but they've combined with the films which I've rewatched several times introducing friends to the series. Both the books and films are fantastic, though. One of the best adaptations I've ever seen, I think.
Does that change happen when it's on streaming? Bc I've seen quite a few people not take note of that, so is it that they're not noticing or that it isn't happening? (I haven't watched the movies myself on streaming in a long time so don't remember) I will say, I think that ratio change was definitely something made specifically for the cinema experience bc it makes such a huge impact when you get to see it on a giant screen. Ugh, what a time to be alive 😩 take me baaaaaack 😭
@@thecavalieryouth I’m not sure but I have noticed on streaming it doesn’t but if you purchase it I believe it does. I originally noticed it on the blue ray back when it came out
To be fair, this is a common thought process for movie watchers (those who haven't read the books), as the films portray a lot of things differently, or slightly different from the books. Under hunger games reactions you see people getting upset when reactors don't catch on to things that aren't as obvious if you haven't read the books. It feels unfair/harsh since if you watch the films alone most people would probably make a lot of the same assumptions based on how the movies are setup.
guys i loved this reaction but pleaseeee not too much on my girl katniss😩😂 gale is not and was never “the main love interest”, none of the boys are “the main one”! she cares for them both but in this movie specifically it’s clear that what she has with peeta it’s less of an act than it was before and it’s slowly turning into something else (trauma bonding is real af!) loved this tho, keep em coming🫶🏻🫶🏻 edit: i said trauma bonding but what i meant was actually “bonding over shared trauma”! idk if there’s a name for that :)
@@clover2739 damn i just checked and you might be right! I’ve always interpreted it as in “bonding over shared trauma” but thanks for commenting actually! I’m italian and sometimes I get stuff mixed up 🙈
You do realise that it was Peeta and Haymitch who orchestrated the whole lovey dovey storyline, right? Not Katniss? He knew from the beginning she might not return his feelings. He did it for survival even if his feelings seem to have been real. He is just like her a victim of circumstances, not of her. And since when is asking for comfort from the only person who really understands you and giving comfort back playing with feelings? This is why Peeta has green flags and why women adore his character. Peeta doesn't read shit into normal human interaction just to turn around and accuse you of playing with his feelings even tho you have made your feelings very clear (cough cough Gale cough cough) Katniss is a 17 year old traumatized girl who doesn't know how to handle these interactions very well in a traumatising situation. But she doesn't deliberately play with feelings. She tries her best to navigate Peetas and her own boundaries. She is tho not handling Gale well imo. But I wouldn't fault her for it either. He continuously pushes even tho she also told him very clearly it was not gonna happen. But she does love him and he knows that and he pushes. Peeta never pushes. Katnisses relationship to Peeta is much more healthy and more respectful even tho their circumstances are so complicated. That says alot imo. But yes, she isnot nice and she learns all these lovely things from him. So she likes gale but isn't sure and also never wants to marry and not have children but then she gets forced into pretending to be in a relationship on tv then develops a friendship with the person kinda responsible for that but also kinda falls in love with him cuz aside from that he is the king of green flags but friendship, love, her own unwillingness to fall in love, trauma and war get all mixed up with that while a childhood friend also pushes for more, while she is 16/17. Excuse me gentlemen: how would you handle that, huh? She is allowed to be confused. And yes as haymitch said: peeta is a guy who few ppl deserve. Ahhh, but I get why you get angry on his behalf, he's like one of the best characters ever. Fan fav for a reason. My god, I got emotional just watching this again. Ahhhh PEETAAAAAAAA.
I was a "pro" Gale when I watched the (two first) movies, then I read the books and I was like "ewwww Gale is ewwww" (I have to admit I didn't get some points when I watched the movies, like the "secret" line from Finnick, had to read the books to get it...
I’ve always said that! Peeta never asked anything of Katniss, he was hurt and bummed after the first arena, but he moved on and wanted to be friends. Gale was the one who kept pushing Katniss to choose him. Gale isn’t a bad guy at all, but Peeta is a better man 100%.
@@marcom6089it's just a movie of course but it's deliberately obtuse to suggest that people's feelings about what happens in the movie aren't relevant to how they perceive things in real life. Our opinions about what's happening in the movies are almost always formed because of our life experiences and perspectives.
In the books you really aren't aware whether Plutarch is good or bad. But that initial meeting Katniss was confused because the conversation and his watch was another bit of foreshadowing to the arena being a clock. But Haymitch and everyone in the resistance knew that Katniss doesn't have a poker face and that Snow would also be laser focused on her as well
Quick recap on their ages Katniss and Peeta were 16 in the first movie when they won their games, gale was 18 Catching fire takes place a year later so Peeta and Katniss are 17 while gale is 19 (they continue to stay that age for the rest of the franchise)
I always thought Katniss saying "it was an act" meant she wanted to believe it too. Maybe she even did. I'm not saying she was in love in the first games, but also, feelings are complicated. When Peeta mentions during the dinner in the first one that she can shoot a squirrel right through the eye it's interesting that her answer reveals she was aware of Peeta through the years after the bread situation. She noticed enough to know things about him. In the movie the scenes in the cave are actually creepy, but in the book they are very different: Katniss thinks they will be acting while Peeta starts talking about real things with his real feelings present (partly because of his fever), and she is reminded of her father and all that (did you know? Peeta's dad liked Katniss's mother, but she "married down" to Katniss's dad). She clearly didn't expect to feel that way, it was a genuine connection. And I guess a part of her was so attached to Peeta because Rue died before her eyes not too long ago, but when the games are over and they come to pick them up she is acting absolutely feral when doctors take Peeta from her and she has to watch his heart stop as they are trying to save him. Not that she had any room to examine anything she might have felt since that was just not her priority. But to say that she is playing with his feelings this whole movie is just false. They have to act before the cameras, yes, but since their talk on the train they came to an understanding. And they know there is no one else(safe for Haymitch) that could understand how are they feeling. Not Gale, not her mother and not Prim. So they gravitate towards each other. I guess she might be hard to read for some people because of her character, in the books at least you are in her head. Btw did you know that Peeta is also a painter? He not only decorates the cakes, but he uses painting as a form of therapy after the games. And I'm surprised how convinced you are that Gale is the love interest that Katniss wants etc. because she never hinted at it? Even their first kiss here surprised her, he did not ask, he just took it. All that time in the woods they spend together before the games Katniss never thought of Gale that way? And Priscilla was great, thank you for that. Cannot wait for the next one.
Peeta only objective is to do what he can to save Katniss, it takes her a little longer to figure out her feelings with Peeta but, every move he made since they came home but really since they were forced back in was to do what he can to make sure she survives!
While I absolutely agree that the uncertainty and back and forth is heartbreaking and hurtful to peeta I don’t think it’s fair to pin it all on Katniss not making a “choice”. The literal ONLY thing on her mind is staying alive and ensuring her loved ones are alive she couldnt give two shits about a relationship or romance with either guy. But I think what we see in this movie is that she DOES love Peeta, I think the second they start spending nights together and helping eachother through that trauma it stops being an Act and katniss does truly love him. But again she has a million other things to think/worry about and which boy crush she’ll end up with is no where on that list.
I mean to be even more fair to Katniss and Peeta, in the second book, the second they're reaped they're carted off to the games and both resigned themselves to dying for the other. In that way it really is just 2 of them from the time they leave district 12. They really do give everything to each other because that's all they have left and they won't know how that feels to anyone else, because again they both think by sacrificing themselves for the other the other will remain and their memories with the other is all that remain of themselves. They, but especially Katniss, really do open themselves up completely because it's the last thing they'll do that matters.
Katniss was not in love with Gale before her first Hunger Games. They were friends. She was focused on survival. Would they have ended up there if the games had never happened and Peeta never asked her out. Who knows? It's possible. But she only ever cared for him as a friend and couldn't think like that, just like she says in this movie. I understand why reactors think they are in a relationship. It's because the movie doesn't explain it correctly. But those are the FACTS.
I'm very glad the two of them couldn't guess everything that was going to happen. On the first movie they're were spot on, it made go "oh my favorite teen movie is kinda predictable huh" but at least they were surprised with the end of this one. But really, so impressive how many guesses they got right, crazy
They are not quite relating to the emotional depth of the story yet. They are new to reacting and have been concentrating on humor in their reactions up until now.
By the quarter quell Katniss does really love Peeta. They try to make that clear through her actions in the arena. Even y’all were saying how real it looked because it was real. The beach scene is where Katniss realizes that she has real feelings for him. But she’s a teenager and obviously very preoccupied with trying to keep herself and all her loved ones alive so she doesn’t really get time to process those feelings. Therefore shes not 100% sure it’s love. Shes confused and stressed. She’s in the same boat with Gale. She knows she cares about him but she’s not sure in what way. She even says in this movie that she doesn’t have time to think about those types of things right now. So even though she’s not sure how she feels about Peeta we, the audience, do. The writers showed it to us in the arena. Like Katniss said everyone else seems to know her secrets before she does.
Yay, I’m finally watching one of these react videos when they actually come out and can finally share some insight. Just a couple of answers/fun facts: 1. Panem is supposed to be like America with District 12 being modern day Lower Northeast/ DC area. 2. In the books Gale was passed off as Katniss’ cousin to try and explain why they were always together and so close 3. The salute they give Katniss was a District 12 specific funeral salute/farewell wish [or something like that] which is why District 12 wasn’t in trouble for doing it, but why it was so much more impactful and controversial when other districts did it. 3. Gale has never been Katniss’ primary love interest. She never really saw him like that and was basically trying to force and convince herself that she should feel more for him based on their past. If anything, she was stringing him along more than Peeta. You get more of this in the books from her perspective. 4. The building they burned was the District 12 Black Market. Pretty much the only way they were able to survive poverty. 5. Haymich won the last Quarter Quell [50th Hunger Games] In his games they had double the amounts of tributes, and he used the bounce back from forcefield around the arena to get the last tribute. 6. Katniss was prepared to die when she heard she was going back in. She never wanted to be in the spotlight and knew Peeta would inspire more hope because he gave her hope. She had already decided she wasn’t walking out of the arena a second time which is why she was so reckless the whole time. Also why everything she did in the games with Peeta felt real. It absolutely was and she really didn’t know how to cope with her feelings. 7. The victors standing together hand in hand on stage was so big because it had literally never happened before. Capitol specifically went through great lengths to avoid Districts mingling, communicating or interacting outside of the Hunger Games. So them actually showing collaboration right before they were supposed to battle it out was the ultimate slap in the Capitol’s face. 8. District 12 was one of the Districts that had no large bodies of water in its borders so none of them should have known how to swim. Katniss only knew due to her father [illegally] taking her to a lake during their hunting trips outside of the District 12 fence. They tried to set her up having them spawn in the middle of water. Peeta also lost his leg in the first Hunger Games and was wearing a prosthetic [why Peeta made the wounded comment at the beginning] in this book. That with not knowing how to swim is why he struggled so much at the beginning of the games. 9. Finnick’s District [4] is the fishing district. It’s why he was so good in water and so lethal with a trident 10. At the party when Katniss first met Plutarch he had a pocket watch [clock] with him that had a hidden Mockingjay symbol, kinda like he was trying to hint at what the game was going to be. Hope you guys watch the next 2 movies and can’t wait to see your reactions!
@@NavyParty fun facts don’t usually have to be necessary. 🙃But since you mentioned it, 3 and 6 give context to Katniss..context that is explained in the books, but isn’t as clear in the movies. 7 was mentioned because most people have questions about the level of communication between Districts. Thanks!
I understand the excitement for the games, but that's exactly why the writer doesn't want to write about them anymore. Because she doesn't want people to get excited about the characters killing each other in an arena, especially since they're usually kids/teenagers.
Katniss was never in love with Gale, Gale was her best friend, and he took good care of her family while she was gone, but Gale was always the one who wanted more from her. Katniss has has so many other things on her mind she's surprised herself when she finds herself beginning to have feelings for Peeta in Catching Fire. I'm surprised so many reactors miss this, mostly guys. Highly recommend reading the books too just to get the added context and ability to look into the heads of the characters a bit more.
1.) Gale isn't the primary love interest. 2.) the reaping is a yearly event in July ( according the a balled of song birds and snakes) 3.) the victory tour is at the midway point between the games (so the districts can never have a moment of peace) 4.) the quarter quells are each a exercise in brutality 25th) the districts had to vote on which kids would go in 50th) twice the normal amount of tributes (this is when hymitch won) 5.) the kids on the beach is the moment katniss realized she loved him
I understand your love for Peeta (your passion matches my own) but I don't necessarily understand your resentment every time we see Katniss falling for him. I think maybe Katniss should be shown a little grace because she’s a teenager, DEEPLY traumatized, and she’s being pushed around a lot into making romantic decisions and declarations- fake and real. It’s probably hard for her to not only tell what’s real but also what she even feels beneath all that fear and anxiety. She obviously loves Gale because he’s her lifelong best friend (though that doesn’t necessarily mean “in love”). She loves Peeta too after they survived so many harrowing situations together and developed a real bond (again, that doesn’t necessarily mean “in love”). Trauma bonds and friendship dynamics are tangled webs even under the best of circumstances. There’s enough roadwork done in the movies to make either choice a valid potential so at this point, it could go either way. It’s just that in my mind, there’s only one *good* choice. Katniss faked love for Peeta in the first games and Gale got all pissy. Yet Peeta, who was deeply in love with her and was the target of the fakery, managed to get over it. In fact, he continued the ruse despite how much it was probably hurting him because he understood the necessity. Gale got pissy when Katniss said she’s too traumatized to be thinking about romance. Peeta was willing to meet her where she is mentally. Not only does he understand she’s in no condition to be making mature romantic choices, he knows that her feelings for him are new and need time to grow organically so he never pushes. Gale got pissy about bringing Peeta along in their escape plan even though he should know that she cares about him at least on some level since they survived the games together. Peeta gave Katniss a locket with Gale’s picture, knowing that she cares about him deeply and his picture would be a comfort. In many ways, Peeta subverts expectations of a traditional romantic hero by embodying what women look for in a healthy relationship. He's supportive and kind to everyone. He sees Katniss's bravery and strength and seeks to support her in that, not eclipse it or push to balance it. He's patient and empathetic rather than looking for a fight. He knows how to show friendship and emotional support to a woman he loves without using it like an IOU coupon. And most of all- MOST OF ALL- he recognizes when he's putting unfair expectations on her feelings and accommodates in a way that shows compassion and understanding. “Pissy” will always be deeply unattractive in my book. It’s not really fair that we didn’t get to see the years of fun and friendship Katniss had with Gale prior to this and that’s probably a massive factor in Katniss’s feelings. But it is what it is. All we get to see of Gale is pissy in this movie.
I literally felt so offended when you guys said Cinna was a creepy, at first immediately I saw him as father figure to Katniss, he showed kindness when first meeting her, different from Haymitch, who's also a sorta of father figure but a more aggresive one.
PanEm is indeed post-apocalyptic and post-sea level rise America. District 12 is the Appalachian Mountain range in the East. West Virginia, Virginia, North and South Carolina, on up into Pennsylvania. There are maps for where all of the districts correspond. Basically the Capital District is in Colorado and the Rockies, which won the apocalyptic wars when climate change borked the world.
"if this was me, I'd be bloody knackered halfway through. I'd drown." Dan, the delivery of that had me absolutely cackling 😂 that would be an unfortunate way to go

They are my favorite duo to watch a “scary” film with, bc their reactions are hilarious & fantastic! You should definitely check out the Paranormal Activity movies with them! They really aren’t very scary (except the very last clip of the first one maybe?)
Spiles are a real thing. It takes longer than that, usually, but the water can taste sweet. It's how maple water (can also be drunk like water for survival) is collected for maple syrup. Very handy, definitely take one on hiking/camping trips in case you get lost and can't find a source of water.
Man, the excitement of experiencing this in 2013... Indescribable! Even more so because it premiered early here in Brazil, epic! Hunger Games is my favorite saga!
the capitol citizens wanting to cancel the games because of the pregnancy is one of my favourite parallels/commentaries about real life politics. how people are pro-life when it comes to a fetus but don't care about the hundreds of kids who were forced to die for no reason.
I love how you catch up with so many important character development moments. It really really makes it a lovely experience to watch it with you. Also double handet salute, yeah 😊
You guys need to remember that Katniss is only seventeen years old, and you’re expecting her to choose who she loves right now? In the middle of the chaos?
Hell yeah! These movies are SHOCKINGLY excellent. I think newcomers often have slightly lower expectations because there have been SO many mediocre (or downright bad) young-adult movie series in the last decade, especially with dystopian-style settings. But Hunger Games was always the top-tier exception to that trend. :)
They shot the old man because the three finger gesture is unique to District 12. Them doing the gesture in District 11 shows unity among the districts which contradicts the purpose of the Games of fighting against each other.
I like that they kept the characterization of Peeta from the books. He's kinda like the Sansa Stark of this series, a kind person who didn't let go of that kindness simply because the outside world is brutal to him.
Peeta may have volunteered, because he loves Katniss, but also, because he doesn't want Haymitch to be in the games. He loves Haymitch too, I feel like, in a platonic, kind of family way.
You guys are too funny loved the reaction LOL. About Katniss though, the books are written from Katniss's POV where you can read her thoughts. The movies do a shit job of conveying this. You have to understand Katniss is a teenager living in district 12. She never had time to consider romance when she's taking care of her family all on her own and just trying to survive. Not only that, she never wanted to fall in love and bring a family into this evil world or thought of that even being an opportunity for her. She's known Gale since she was young and they love each other, trust each other, and take care of each other like family. But again, she never even had time to think about her romantic feelings towards him even before she got sent off to the first games. Insert Peeta, it was originally a show put on for the games. She doesn't owe him any feelings in return. However, you can see that she finds comfort with Peeta and deeply cares for him as they've been through something together that nobody will ever understand. But again, she doesn't have the time nor mental capacity to think about her feelings for Peeta either. Especially now with Snow down her neck, her family in danger, and being sent back into the games. Yes, she kisses them both for a multitude of different reasons each time. Feelings are complex on both sides and there's too much trauma happening to dissect or discount each one or put blame on her for trying to figure it all out.
It’s a shame you missed out on Katniss/Peeta because you thought it was fake 😂 it’s such a beautiful and well-developed relationship. Otherwise you guys pick up on every little detail and are absolutely hilarious
New subscriber here!! In the books they specify that the Victory Tour is halfway between the annual Hunger Games (6 months later). It’s said to be the Capitol’s way to always keep the Hunger Games fresh in the Districts’ minds throughout the year. Not only that, it’s another strategy to add to the anonymity between the districts to prevent them from joining together. Imagine seeing the person that killed the mods from your district and have to celebrate them.
If there was a scene I’d used to convince someone who’s never seen the hunger games before to watch it, it be the dress turning reveal scene. The anticipation, the buildup, the music, the look of pride on Katnisses face. Absolutely stunning scene.
More trivia time… When Plutarch dances with Katniss, one thing they left out was an important hint. Plutarch has a games makers meeting at midnight, so he is always watching and talking about what time it is. He pulls out his pocket watch that personally had made for himself. It is GOLD and when you rub your finger across the crystal, the mockingjay symbol appears and then fades away. He showed it to Katniss but she didn’t understand it. She just thought it was weird. (“… I’m an open book. Half the people know my secrets before I do.” Finnick: “You know, unfortunately I think that’s true”) Plutarch was showing her that he was on her side and a hint about the arena being a clock. The scene where Peeta gives her a pearl… In the first book, Effie has her first assignment as a tributes guide. As she does better, she moves up in rank by getting better districts. Katniss and Peeta was speaking with her about their chances. She wanted to remain optimistic since they are from the coal mining district and knew they had no chance. She says, “well you know what they say… if you crush a lump of coal you get PEARLS. Katniss & Peeta look at each other and smirks. They know the real saying is “if you crush a lump of coal, you get DIAMONDS.” It showed how clueless Effie is and they knew the truth that if you crush coal, all you get is crushed coal. 🙄😑🤣
Mate same!! I'm honestly so into these movies, i was genuinely so annoyed when the credits started rolling on this one 😅 the temptation to sit there and binge the entire franchise is so high haha
I love how you guys talk at the begining about the Champion of champions and how it is kind of like reality tv shows because that's the whole thing. The hunger games it's a parody of the society we live in and how people have to act and make up drama just to survive in the world, the society and the sistem that we ourselves created to feed the rich with the work of the poor. Love the reactions❤
Finnick, Snow's grand daughter, and even Snow was convinced when Peta was brought back to life by Finnick, but not these guys. :D Also, Katniss is literally trying to survive and protect her family, being in a love triangle is the lowest of her priorities
They waited for katniss to be in the tube to get Cinna to purposely disorient her and upset her right before the games. I remember the complete shock when I first saw it
I like how you get every single detail so well. You are so good. I think katnisses feelings is the only thing you don't get but everything else even the tiniest think you catch it's wild.
not gonna lie, I was baffled when he said that Gale was her primary love interest. Super interesting how people interpret these movies from their own lens.
Now you two have to watch: Mockingjay part 1 Mockingjay part 2 The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (President Snow’s backstory) And… the author will be releasing the book for Haymitch’s games next Spring with a movie for it set to come out in 2026
The hunger games does take place in a post war state of North America. It’s slightly bigger than the USA, but not to funny encompass all of North America. District 12 is located near the Appalachian mountains, which are known for being incredibly rural and behind most major cities in terms on technological advancements. It’s also known for being one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world and were known to be the home of many Indigenous peoples. In the books there’s a bit more ambiguity to Katniss and Gale’s phenotypical race. It’s implied that people from the edge of district 12 are indigenous, and Katniss’ mother left her decent life further in town near Peeta’s family to live on the outskirts with Katniss’ father.
Do you honestly think that Katniss a young girl, teenager would want to have a family in this Society? You remember what Gail said, he had to kiss her at least once, meaning he never kissed her before. Peeta was Katniss's first kiss.. she isolated herself from everyone because she knew they would die. She's only friends with Gail because their dads used to hunt together to support the family.
The movie definitely does a disservice to Katniss with the lack of inner monologue but there are certain things that a lot of people miss; like what you said, it was their (Gale) first kiss in all that time spent together.
I remember when these came out during my high school days all the girls who watched / red the books talked about Finnik, Peeta or Gale. I was crushing so hard on Johanna and still lovers her till this day
There was 3 months between the announcement of the quarter quell and the games. Peta decided that the team should approach these games like careers, and train hard. Which is why Katniss was so good in the simulation room and went for the center at the start of the games.
This film was life changing to experience in high school after having read the books. Just unreal at how much they were able to convey/include. THE WAY YALL UNDERSTOOD SO MUCH i love these movies. so well done
re: peeta gale Katniss ❤🔺 reminder Katniss is only 17 and has been starving and in survival mode her whole existence. her father died, her mother is sedate and non responsive, she watches people and children die of malnutrition, and kids get sent off to a death arena. aside from the moments in nature when she hunts, her life pre-games wasn’t normal. this is all to say that romantic love and marriage and kids wasn’t even in her mind. she said in the books she would never ever have children just to watch them starve and die. which without contraception… means she’d likely sworn off the idea sex too. Gale: Gale was her childhood best friend. they had a whole lifetime of bonding. they know each other deeper than anyone and as they hit puberty some feelings started popping up, but they hadn’t addressed them. Again, they’re both young, starving, and terrified to have kids. not exactly prime teen dating. Peeta was an average nice boy in town that had once thrown bread out into the rain and saved her life. Otherwise she knew nothing about him. During the first games she grew to care about him because Katniss, despite her refusal to have children, is naturally maternal and can’t help helping weak or wounded people. she didn’t feel romantic towards him… as far as she knew they were both going to die and was just trying to survive. but she did think he was too good of a person, knew his mother abused him, and felt guilty for leading him on. everything after that first game becomes a whirlwind (as you just saw) and she doesn’t know or care who she ends up with. she loves and cares for both these guys and she’s probably going to be dead soon… that’s all she’s thinking. she’s not picking one because why pick? when they’re all on deaths door? what does a boyfriend matter when the whole world is on fire and everyone’s looking at you to be a leader? hope that gives you context because she’s not done feeling feelings and kissing both of them. but she’s not going back and forth… she’s not with either of them. she loves them both and does what she needs to do in the moment to make sure they know that she loves them. ❤
the way they keep predicting whats gonna happen in these movies is mind boggling to me like i couldnt have predicted half of that😭 (but then again i watched these movies as a kid)
I think you find Cinna a little weird because it’s Lenny Kravitz. He’s a rockstar that oozes sex. Even him being fatherly seems seductive. But that’s just how he is. Those of us who grew up with him in the 90s just see Lenny Kravitz in a cool role, and we know he’s a smooth dude. If you don’t know Lenny well, I can see how he seems flirty.
Thankyou for your reaction guys. Glad that you enjoyed this one too 😃 Love how much you love Peeta. He's the best! The 'love triangle' is a complicated one but it was definitely hyped up more for the films. In the books, when you are getting Katniss' feelings and thoughts, it's a lot easier to make sense of certain things. They do both mean a lot to her, but it's in different ways. Plus she's so young going through so much. It makes sense that she's confused about pretty much everything, but what you saw for Peeta in Catching Fire was real 🙂 Can't wait for Mockingjay part 1&2😅
Peeta is the blueprint for perfect book boyfriend! Genuinely he set my standards SO high as a child. I love that you guys love Peeta. This was great fun to watch! That said, as we go into the next one I need y'all to remember Katniss is barely 17 and incredibly traumatized, and now with a bad concussion to boot. Please cut her some slack! She's doing the best she can to cope, meanwhile Gale keeps pestering/guilting/manipulating her into figuring out her romantic feelings which isn't helping. She said at the beginning of this movie that she hasn't been able to think about ANYTHING except the safety of her loved ones since she was in the first games, but really it goes farther than that. Survival has been the only thing on her mind since her dad died. When Peeta threw her the bread, he literally saved her life, as they were starving to death. That kindness started the chain of events (by seeing a dandelion, long story) that lead to her ongoing survival. After that she taught herself to hunt with her father's bow, and ran into Gale in the woods as he was setting up snares. His father died in the same mining accident so they shared skills and teamed up, becoming the breadwinners of their families when Katniss was only 11 and Gale 13. The books make it clear that Katniss genuinely never thought of Gale that way (or knew that he liked her) until after coming back from the games, and a big part of the reason she begins to question if she DOES like him is simply that she's trying to separate herself from the capitol and her trauma as much as she can. Peeta is who the capitol wants her to like, and when has she ever given the capitol what they want? So she feels confused and conflicted. She has a sense of loyalty to Gale because of their reliance on each other for so long, and after realizing he liked her she kind of tries to brute force her way to returning those feelings. But she can never bring herself to feel for Gale what she does with Peeta. While yes she was initially acting in the first games, she did actually begin to like him for real, and that has only grown since then. Everything between them in the second games was for real. She's ultimately just a child who is getting used as a political pawn by both sides, who never signed up for ANY of this. Katniss literally cannot catch a break, let alone find time to sort through romantic feelings she's never had the chance to feel before.
As a side note, I must say well done. The Hunger Games (books and movies) are my special interest and I know them front to back and every which way, but you guys made me notice the detail of the man touching Katniss' shoulder at the capitol party scene for the very first time! No spoilers, but that detail has weight down the line, and I was so pleased to find something new in my favorite series
To answer the geography question (I’m sure someone else already has), Panem is a post-apocalyptic society set in North America, mostly the modern day United States. There’s no “official” map, but lots of fan renditions are based off the author’s comments and correlations with descriptions of each district to real world places. For example, district 2 (the armory) is in the southern Rocky Mountains (Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona), and the Capitol city is supposedly based off Denver, Colorado. District 12 is supposedly in the northeast, Pennsylvania-New York area. Hence the harsh winters and beautifully green deciduous forests.
It's kinda fascinating how a majority of guy reacters I've seen always favor Gale or think he's endgame for Katniss, and all the girls I know who've seen the movie always favor Peeta from the start
I know, right? It's the whole male vs female gaze thing
They prefer his bravery and uncompromising attitude about revenge.
It says a lot about them and what they consider “good masculinity”
I mean, the thing is, is that Gale starts out favored by Katniss, and she doesn't start with many feelings for Peeta, so it does make sense for the viewer to favor him at first. I have a very strong tendency to ship characters based on their actual preferences shown in the media, rather than trying to impose my own pairing on it.
I've said this before... And I'll say it now... Peeta is the best love interest in any teen movie ever.
(For now)
by far... he is not toxic at all... and makes perfect sense all the way
God help you in your future relationships. If you think throwing a burnt loaf of bread in the mud makes a better love interest than being a friend, confidant, and hunting buddy helping Katniss feed her family for years, you'll probably end up with a bare minimum man, too.

HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA MY EXACT THOUGHT
I was like “when are they watching the songbirds and snakes movie”
Something that’s important to remember with the romance is that they are 16/17. Katniss has never thought of romantic love in any real way for herself until she is forced into the games
because she went from child to primary breadwinner at the age of 12 when her mom was catatonic after her dad's death
Everybody is already ranting about Katnisses feelings, so I'll just leave a little fun fact (not really) here:
Haymitch participated in the 50th Hunger Games, the second quarter quell.
Oh my... So that is what's going to happen in the new book? 😢
There’s an awesome fan made film on yt depicting it as well
Yes, he's absolutely not a "party boy".
Beautifully said
I've never read the books myself, but even without the added context given in the books, to me at least it was pretty obvious that by the time that Peeta nearly dies after hitting the force field that Katniss is in love with him.

lol you two are deep in the friendzone mindset. katniss was forced into these romances by haymitch on one hand and by gale on the other. she wasn’t in love with either of them until she developed feelings for peeta throughout the second games, seeing as he truly loves and understands her like no one else. gale feels entitled to her in some way, meanwhile she’s just trying to survive.
Well said 👏
The films do a bad job, I've never read the books, but out of the love triangle, Peeta is the only real expressive one so without dialogue the audience has no idea what the characters want or need.
Gale is presented as Katniss' partner and as a humble and sweet guy (we only get a few lines and even less scenes) so it doesn't even look like there's any motivation for her to want Peeta when all he does in the first two films is throw tantrums about Katniss not wanting him.
The way the films do it, it looks like Peeta badgered Katniss into a relationship by emotionally manipulating her which Katniss' blank face and stilted body language sell more than any real feelings being felt imo.
it's a toxic high school love triangle crap.
I agree with this. The movies are good, but the books share more about how Katniss thinks and feels, which leaves less guessing about her decisions.

The books straight up say that this arena has been in development for years, so I don't think the clock theme was a message.
She's my favorite supporting character. So much development.
I can't wait for you to watch the next one! It's SOOOO good!!!!
My favorite is seeing Effie almost weep cause she has to pick “ladies first” and knows it’s Katniss. She is literally mourning
And she’s relieved Haymitch was called
Peeta deserves the credit for the “fake relationship”.
That kiss was reallllll, katniss loves peeta
The Kiss on the beach
34:38 the reason they didn't kill off anyone from district 12 when doing the three-fingers sign was because this sign is a traditional district 12 sign. They do that in a form to sat "goodbye" to someone. So when other districts did it, it was a sign of rebellion, meanwhile at 12 its a goodbye sign (that also had an underlying rebellion hint).
Even though Cinna is innocent I actually appreciate that they were cautious of an older man with power around a child (presumably 16 year old Katniss). Keep it up guys!
I appreciated that, too. Even though I love Cinna so much lol
So not a child

Great job gents!
These are difficult for all the reactors to do. Music does kick off copyright problems often. Don't forget to save Joanna too with your Peeta extraction mission.
It was super enjoyable to watch your reactions. I can't wait for the next one 🤗
I'm just waiting for the 3rd. Mockingjay you guys are gonna lose it.
I made my dad watch these movies and he was soo pissed at the ending!! He was all “what!? This is BS start the next one!” 😂😂
Them fangirling over peeta whenever he does literally anything is so real
Did you guys notice how the aspect ratio changed as Katniss rose up in her pod into the arena?
Does that change happen when it's on streaming? Bc I've seen quite a few people not take note of that, so is it that they're not noticing or that it isn't happening? (I haven't watched the movies myself on streaming in a long time so don't remember)
I will say, I think that ratio change was definitely something made specifically for the cinema experience bc it makes such a huge impact when you get to see it on a giant screen. Ugh, what a time to be alive 😩 take me baaaaaack 😭
@@thecavalieryouth I’m not sure but I have noticed on streaming it doesn’t but if you purchase it I believe it does. I originally noticed it on the blue ray back when it came out
I feel like they're the only reactors that haven't noticed it. Everyone else talks about it.
Gale is not her primary love interest, good Lord. Peeta is HUSBAND! Now and always. And by husband, I mean my husband lmao
😂😂 I was going to comment this, it got me stressed they were saying Gale was the love interest
YES GIRL YES! Can you share though? guess he's mine too! LOL
@@cece28860 Oh I'm not upset at all, it's all in good fun.

Peeta doesn't read shit into normal human interaction just to turn around and accuse you of playing with his feelings even tho you have made your feelings very clear (cough cough Gale cough cough)
Katniss is a 17 year old traumatized girl who doesn't know how to handle these interactions very well in a traumatising situation.
Calm down… it’s just a movie. 😂
what an essay
@@marcom6089it's just a movie of course but it's deliberately obtuse to suggest that people's feelings about what happens in the movie aren't relevant to how they perceive things in real life. Our opinions about what's happening in the movies are almost always formed because of our life experiences and perspectives.
In the books you really aren't aware whether Plutarch is good or bad. But that initial meeting Katniss was confused because the conversation and his watch was another bit of foreshadowing to the arena being a clock. But Haymitch and everyone in the resistance knew that Katniss doesn't have a poker face and that Snow would also be laser focused on her as well
Quick recap on their ages Katniss and Peeta were 16 in the first movie when they won their games, gale was 18
Catching fire takes place a year later so Peeta and Katniss are 17 while gale is 19 (they continue to stay that age for the rest of the franchise)
And Prim was 13 in this movie, already providing medical care for other people, she matured a lot in the span of one movie
Can I say it “Revolution”😂😂😂😂

Just a couple of answers/fun facts:
1. Panem is supposed to be like America with District 12 being modern day Lower Northeast/ DC area.
2. In the books Gale was passed off as Katniss’ cousin to try and explain why they were always together and so close
It’s why he was so good in water and so lethal with a trident
10. At the party when Katniss first met Plutarch he had a pocket watch [clock] with him that had a hidden Mockingjay symbol, kinda like he was trying to hint at what the game was going to be.
Hope you guys watch the next 2 movies and can’t wait to see your reactions!
3 and 6 are unnecessary
Maybe 7 as well
@@NavyParty fun facts don’t usually have to be necessary.
2.) the reaping is a yearly event in July ( according the a balled of song birds and snakes)
3.) the victory tour is at the midway point between the games (so the districts can never have a moment of peace)
4.) the quarter quells are each a exercise in brutality
25th) the districts had to vote on which kids would go in
50th) twice the normal amount of tributes (this is when hymitch won)
5.) the kids on the beach is the moment katniss realized she loved him
I understand your love for Peeta (your passion matches my own) but I don't necessarily understand your resentment every time we see Katniss falling for him.

(HOW IS DAN SO GOOD AT PREDICTING THINGS?)
Has Dan been banned from wearing gym shorts Jack? No more flashing us in the intro? There will be a riot
😭
She didn't know Gale all her life, she met him when she was 12, so it's only been 4-5 years...
My bad. take that part out and everything I said still stands lol. Sorry! "since they were young" is better.
an hour and 23 minute video is very much deserved for this one, peak cinema (long video but dan wearing pants….we won but at what cost)
More trivia time…
When Plutarch dances with Katniss, one thing they left out was an important hint.
The scene where Peeta gives her a pearl…
In the first book, Effie has her first assignment as a tributes guide. 🙄😑🤣
This upload is the best news I've had all day ! ❤
I hope you enjoy the video mate! 😊
District 12 is basically east coast america, yea. The Appalachian mountain range, there’s an official map you can find online of Panem
I’m SOOOOO excited for you guys to see the newer hunger games movie
Mate same!! I'm honestly so into these movies, i was genuinely so annoyed when the credits started rolling on this one 😅 the temptation to sit there and binge the entire franchise is so high haha
@@JackDanReact do ittttt! Then binge Haunting of Hill House! It’s the best 10 episodes in Netflix history
BOMBASTIC SIDE EYE😭✨
They waited for katniss to be in the tube to get Cinna to purposely disorient her and upset her right before the games. I remember the complete shock when I first saw it
I like how you get every single detail so well. You are so good. I think katnisses feelings is the only thing you don't get but everything else even the tiniest think you catch it's wild.
not gonna lie, I was baffled when he said that Gale was her primary love interest. Super interesting how people interpret these movies from their own lens.
Now you two have to watch:
Mockingjay part 1
Mockingjay part 2
The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (President Snow’s backstory)
And… the author will be releasing the book for Haymitch’s games next Spring with a movie for it set to come out in 2026
To be fair, as a women, I too was confused about which one Katniss truly loved - till the end of this movie
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for this ever since the part1 was uploaded. Enjoyed it as usual, excited for the next part!
The movie definitely does a disservice to Katniss with the lack of inner monologue but there are certain things that a lot of people miss; like what you said, it was their (Gale) first kiss in all that time spent together.
lmfao i love the reaction when cinna showed up.
recently discovered this channel and i'm loving it! catching fire is my favourite hunger games movie. thanks for reacting!
THE WAY YALL UNDERSTOOD SO MUCH i love these movies. so well done
re: peeta gale Katniss ❤🔺
reminder Katniss is only 17 and has been starving and in survival mode her whole existence. her father died, her mother is sedate and non responsive, she watches people and children die of malnutrition, and kids get sent off to a death arena. aside from the moments in nature when she hunts, her life pre-games wasn’t normal. this is all to say that romantic love and marriage and kids wasn’t even in her mind. she said in the books she would never ever have children just to watch them starve and die. which without contraception… means she’d likely sworn off the idea sex too.
The sneaky hidey man was among the first group of fallen tributes/victors. His face appears on the dome.
That’s such an amazing (and accurate )description of Lenny Kravitz 😂
This is one of the best book to movie adaptations out there. I cannot wait for yall to see the rest of the series!
Thankyou for your reaction guys. Glad that you enjoyed this one too 😃
Love how much you love Peeta.
It makes sense that she's confused about pretty much everything, but what you saw for Peeta in Catching Fire was real 🙂
Can't wait for Mockingjay part 1&2😅
