  • Deadly to the tree but delicious for me! Pay attention to this sign of trouble. It could mean that the tree is getting ready to fail! Mushrooms on the wood always are indicators of some sort of decay. Not always serious so unless you know what the fungus is, don't jump to conclusions.

I found your videos as a result of my love for trees, and because I'm buying a property with many trees on them. Your videos have grown my love for trees immensely. I see so much more in them now. Thank you!

grieske welcome, I try to post at least one or two per week. Most often about trees but a bit about woodworking and tools

❤️🙏👍👈 you did a nice analysis of that tree Blair what's the matter with it. About 2 years ago I got out from out west a tree an oak tree actually blew up inside of the trunk it was so hot the weather blew the trunk up and the whole thing fell into the road did you ever see that in your business how long you been in business.

Thats a yum yum tree. Time to intermittently water it, harvest the chicken of the woods - and yum yum !

That would be delicious indeed. I was thinking it was a "dyers polypore." You may be right tho.

That is all just remnants of fruiting bodies. The fungus itself has already devoured 100 times (or more) what you see on the ground.
I believe you can dye wool with that mushroom.

Dremwolf glad you enjoyed some of my older stuff. I'm going to try and do a new intro for each year. Bacon was fun but time to move on. Always move forward.

It has been quite a while since I have had to remove a tree of any size
(A Golden Rain Tree, 25ft tall or so). After watching a number of your
videos I am glad to say most of the stuff I had learned from watching a
variety of things on TV were spot on. Luckily it was all from the ground
and nothing came close to the house or power line.
Pruning however is another story. Most of what I had seen was, flush
cut. Your videos on pruning make much more sense! So the Crepe Myrtle I
had to remove some dead wood from thanks you.
      Leave no bacon behind. LOL

Thanks for another interesting video, I've never seen that particular fungi before. Wondering if you can help...I have a recently planted shrub (a small RIBES planted in early spring) in my garden that has developed a fleshy looking cup shaped fungi growing around its base...reminds me of fresh pasta, even the colour is a creamy caramel pasta shade..lol...I wonder if you have any idea what it could be or could you point me in the direction of a book or website that could help identify what it is is and if it's harmful to the plant or surrounding plants, I have tried researching what it is but haven't found anything that looks the same so far...any advice would be greatly appreciated but I do understand if you'd rather not help especially as you haven't seen it. So in most cases it is not a chicken and egg argument. The opening/injury is there which opens the door to the fungus? I have seen that on mulch. If I do and that introduces to the yard does it increase it finding its way to our Oaks and maples?
    Great video
    Jim
On this one I hope they took it down

phooesnax different fungus on mulch. The study of fungus is amazing. Some are really important for tree health. Some turn the trees back into soil.

If you were to prune or take this tree down, would you put a strap around it first? I notice that the Aussies do this.

Not knowing which fungus you have, it is hard to say. Many fungal organisms consume the wood under ground, when the wood is gone, so will the mushrooms.

How do i stop fungus at base of my mesquite tree before all branches dry up dont wat her to die

    • @arboristBlairGlenn

The fungus is living in the system of the tree. All you can do is keep it as healthy as possible by mulching and not causing further damage. Sorry

How do you kill the mushrooms?

    • @arboristBlairGlenn
      @arboristBlairGlenn  2 роки тому +1

The mushrooms are just the fruiting body of the fungus. Can’t kill it without removing the soil. Mycelium is everywhere.
