This was a very entertaining movie even though the plot was difficult to follow. However, all the beautiful women in impeccable dress sure was easy on the eyes.
Tone turned in a great performance here playing Stuart Bailey who was later portrayed by Efrem Zimbalist, Jr. in 77 Sunset Strip. Huggins wrote the novel and later developed TV shows you might've heard of: Maverick, The Fugitive, 77 Sunset Strip and The Rockford Files.
Great movie!!! I got confused with all the ladies because they were all beautiful looking similar and the scenario was full of twists but the movie is just a click before the masterpiece level!! Thanks for the upload!
What a great movie. Never seen this before so much better than the trash they turn out today good plot gorgeous dames and fast paced super stuff thanks
I’m excited to see this movie , it was on TV this past weekend and I didn’t see the beginning of the movie . Several actors in this one I really like. 🎥📺😍
Back in the day when men & women dressed their best, even if it's just to walk down the street or go shopping. I'm an old movie buff & I enjoyed this one. Thanks for the upload!
@@pressureworks: No. When I was a kid in the 50s men wore ties, jackets and even hats whenever they went out in public. Women wore stockings and girdles. I like it less formal, but I can understand why some people miss it. We act according to how we dress.
This guy maybe wasn't a Cary Grant, but he was one of the smoothest in the hundreds of ole movies I've watched. 61 and know enough about being smooth and I know his voice, tone, has something to do with it...🤔😒👍🏻👍🏻 🌬💀🏴☠️
Another great find pizza flix. Always liked Franchot Tone since mutiny on the bounty. He knows how to take a beating to. In reality as well from Tom Neal.
Great plot. I didn't see a number of the twists coming. My only complaint about some Noirs is they rip each other off = stealing phrases of dialogue. nothing important but still. Also the whimsical humor is unnecessary and detracts from the overall vibe. I'm not complaining, my favorite noir did the same thing. I'd love to see a digitally restored version of this in high definition. I'd buy that on DVD. I'll have to check and see if it exists. Thanks for the upload, it made my favorite list.

Aw, shucks, was hoping you'd have a trivia monologue to go along w this one, PizzaFlix. An interesting noir, to be sure, this one, along w The Chase, The Dark Corner, and a slew of others, I keep returning to, as if it's some sort of 'Noir standard'
What a great Film Noir this is as I am a big fan of this type of film in this time period and as a subscriber I watch until my heart's content and thanks for having such a "Classy" site to feed a Noir's appetite~!!!
Rats!!! i usually love these old B/W films but couldn't watch this one because of the over-dramatic fiddle background music!!! And I really wanted to see Raymond Burr. But Every time the characters took a breath from their dialogue...yikes my ears! ☹️
It's Friday and I'm here for this movie. Thank you. 😊
It’s a very good one 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕
Me too! 👍☺️
Me too! Already seen several times but it is an excellent movie!
Friday again!
*This has been on my list for years. Thanks, PizzaFlix*

@@sohara.... glad you waited for a good print to be uncovered.

Lately the question, "what is a woman?" has been asked frequently. This film answers it beautifully.

Classic film noir! The plot is twisty and convicted. The dialogue is snappy and the tension is high. Great movie!
Raymond Burr here as A low life "Heavy". Went on to virtuous roles but stayed heavy . . .
He was also the “Heavy” in ‘Rear Window.’
I wish more films were that good!
Great movie!!! I got confused with all the ladies because they were all beautiful looking similar and the scenario was full of twists but the movie is just a click before the masterpiece level!! Thanks for the upload!
A true Noir has a complex plot. I don't know a good one that doesn't take at least two viewings to figure out... if one ever does.

Love it! It's taut in its own sloppy drunk way. More like this! And that SOUNDTRACK!

Great film brilliant thanks for the upload 😎
What great dialogue. Excellent plot, pretty good acting. Interesting plot. How did I miss this one before?
Superb film with some gorgeous females
Now this is what I call a decent murder mystery movie. Full points all the way 'round. 🎉
Quite a story - so many names and unknowns. Fun! Thanks.
💖 ~ Remarkably complex film noir with exquiste stinger lines = pure luv! ~ 💖

I grew up in the 50s. I don't miss having to wear a starched shirt and tie.
@@KutWrite Agreed. I just wish everyone else did !
Perhaps you're confusing the fantasy world of films with real life.

@@KutWrite the Fonz never did.
I recognized the beginning shot with Bank of America as my neighborhood. I moved there 50 years after this was made- Great film
Where was that... Westwood?
Yes... the village shopping district@@KutWrite
Very good film.
I like the slight Bogart style of talking. I wonder if diction/voice coaches were busy teaching the Boggie Style.
Love this channel!!! ❤
So many beautiful women in this movie and a great story line.
👍👌👏 Thanks a lot for uploading and sharing this great old crime movie. Best regards, luck and health in particular.
Thank you love this noir
Pretty good movie 👍🏻

🍕Hi Ben 🍕Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you 🍕
It's Saturday because I sleep early
🎉😂❤ Our Ralph Johnson is portrayed by the actor who will be "The General" in "Destination Moon" 😂😊
Il y a longtemps que je n'avais vu un aussi bon film.Vraiment excellent..
Surement. Il faut chequer "Dead Reckoning" aussi
Ok
26:16 he stole my heart at "well, come in." ❤❤❤❤❤
Super Enjoyable!! Thank you ❤
Happy Friday!!! Love this thank you.
$40,000 back then is worth over $500,000 in 2023 dollars.
😯
All the babes, beatings, and wise cracks, it could have been Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer. Good one.
Hammer was a sadist.
Good one. More twists than a knotted snake. I wish they made them this way nowadays.
they can't make movies like this nowadays because they actually have genders and know their roles
Approaching perfection, no joke. 💘💘💘💋😎👍
Another great find pizza flix. Always liked Franchot Tone since mutiny on the bounty. He knows how to take a beating to. In reality as well from Tom Neal.
He was nearly killed by Neal, who was a professional boxer and hot tempered man. A horrible incident.

'Fran-choh' is how he said it
Great film.
It was almost getting comical though the way at the end people kept knocking on his door.
I love Noir. It's so OT.
adorable and classy
Looks very good - thanks for the post!
I love Franchot Tone. He has made some magnificent films. He had an interesting love life too... Tumultuous even..
Thank you so much for this.
Roseanne Murray as Miss Phipps, the sarcastic waitress, stole the movie.
Good afternoon movie 🎬 while sitting in car absorbing the sunshine 🌞. It's like time warp , leaving the world for awhile.

Fast talking ?? You mean Smooth Talking.
woohoo im late but i made it! 🎬🎥🥂🧓🦉
Janet Blair Janet Blair Janet Blair. What a cutie.
When a dope loves a dame no sap can be a heel.
For Jenny sake what a story😭
You'd think after a million movies and tv shows with the cops suspecting the PI of doing the murder, another plot angle would be developed.
❤
Keep up the good work !
This was a fun romp.

For all the movie's good points, Tone, a good actor, seems miscast physically as a tough guy.
Could one also say the same for Bogart? Maybe it doesn't matter so much.
The unlikelihood might add to the quality
OK! What a great movie. I admit I started watching the movie to see the cars. But, wow. This one is in my top 100 now.
ALL CLASS! Super flick, great lines, gorgeous tamatas, excellent leading man...this is why I watch these old movies
Good until the last slice of pizza was gone , Angel!
14:11 everytime you walk in an alley ...... someone tries to run you down, or hit you on the head.
A+ film noir!
My only complaint is music drowning out the dialogue.
