I've been tempted to make a video about it but as I generally like to talk about positive stuff in my videos I haven't. Perhaps I will in the future! A lot of the stuff (not all) that Netflix Mexico makes is good stuff (like the Taco Cronicles).
In addition to chocolate, VANILLA also has its origins in Mexico, more specifically in the Totonacapan and Papantla region in Veracruz where the habitants of their towns began to use it to flavor their recipes, for medicinal purposes and even as an offering.
Yep, Mexico has delivered a lot to the world, number 0, corn, vanilla (btw for many years it was possible to harvest it only in Mexico), chocolate, tomatoe, could you imagine pizza without tomatoe salsa?
I was thinking about why I enjoy your videos more than others. 1. You concentrate on content and presentation. 2. It's not a vanity video. So many youtubers insist on having their mug in every shot. 3. You're respectful of the people and their culture. 4. I can watch them again and see something new.

Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first appointed U.S. ambassador to Mexico. In 1825 while visiting Taxco found the traditional Flor de Nochebuena and he sent some back to his own town in the US. The flowers were named after him.
A Mexican chemist, Mario Molina, was awarded the Chemistry Nobel Prize in 1995 for his work on discovering how sensitive is the ozone layer of the biosphere and what can injure it. He shared the prize with other 2 chemists but it definitely counts. He was one of the first, if not the first scientist to warn about climate change.

Look up Rodeo, la riata, vaquero, arena, sombrero norteño(look familiar?) not an American invention. The "American" cowboy style" is a rip off of the Northern Mexico cowboy way of life. When the U.S. took California, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, parts of Oregon, Arizona, parts of Oklahoma and New Mexico from Mexico they adopted the Mexican vaquero way of life. All you needed was Hollywood Western movies and John Wayne to make it theirs.
No joke, I got so excited when you talked about Suites Havre that I knocked over my wine glass! We stayed there, in the penthouse with a lovely roof deck, in 2017 and 2018. I wish we had known it was famous! I am not surprised hear an inventor stayed there. We met a few international students in the elevator. We loved Suites Havre and the neighbourhood (and would recommend it to any first time visitors to CDMX). The fantastic Gabi's Cafe is just around the corner for coffee roasted in house and great breakfast, lunches and pastres. Thanks for another brilliant video!

All common beans other than Lima, Lentils & Garbanzo as well as all chilies/bell peppers & squashes/pumpkins originated in Mexico. They were domesticated here 7,000-5,000 years ago. That is why they are an integral part of Mexican cuisine going back thousands of years. Interesting fact, all chilies used in other countries known for spicy cuisine (parts of China, Thailand & India) can be traced to Mexican chilies as their origin! 😉
Nachos originated in northern Mexico, in a city very dear to me, Piedras Negras, Coahuila. And need I say more when I say that Mexicans make beautiful music? Viva Mexico!
Mexico has the best REAL ICE CREAM BARS! I've been to many many countries, and you can't buy real ice cream bars, but you can buy the actual ice cream cones, etc like in the Balkans and Italy, but not YUMMY real homemade ice cream bars with REAL fruit 😋😋😋
What abaut the turkey, here it's a Bird with the name of guajolote in the pre-hidpanic time, now it's a clasic dish in christmas because the Queen Victoria make it popular in the 1800s :)

What abaut the turkey, here it's a Bird with the name of guajolote in the pre-hidpanic time, now it's a clasic dish in christmas because the Queen Victoria make it popular in the 1800s :)
