My $5,000. hearing aids were really $3,000. I was charged $500. office fee, $250. for the FREE hearing test, $250 for the impression and a yearly $500. for ongoing adjustments. Even though there was a mountain between us he claimed that he was adjusting my hearing aid. I got tired of paying him and darn if the HA didn't stop working.
Very interesting insights about OTC hearing aids. I have asymmetrical hearing loss and need a cros hearing aid solution. I haven't come across any OTC products that have cros capability. Maybe this is a good topic for one of your upcoming videos?
Good question. At this point we haven’t come across good OTC options for asymmetrical loss. Most advanced products can customize by ear but they don’t go as far as to provide CROS capabilities. Maybe something we will see in the future!
@Hearingsoundly I was thinking of getting my mother the Sennheiser All Day Clear OTC since she is an android phone user. She has a mild-mod sensorineural loss in both ears but also a cookie cutter loss at the mid frequencies in her left ear. Will this hearing aid have enough programming options to adjust to her loss. Do you have any other recommendations of OTC aids to consider? Her ENT suggested OTC since her loss is not bad enough to be covered by insurance.
Interesting question! Sennheiser has a great product overall and solid customization options. However, the programming aspect of the hearing aids is done on both years in the same way. She will be able to change the volume per year, but she won’t be able to change the programming to be different in her right and left. If she has a significantly different shape of hearing loss in her two ears, she may need to try a product like Jabra Enhance Select. That product comes with professional programming so they can tweak things to match her hearing loss. The price is reasonably similar as well. Here’s my review on Jabra m.ua-cam.com/video/vZtj_nCju2E/v-deo.html
I have cookie bite hearing loss like the announcer. Which does he find works best? I have used Starkey, and Phonak and the adjustments at the audiologist doesn’t seem to hit where I need it.
@@CeliaEM19 you can take calls through your hearing aids but you will have to "accept" the call on your phone screen. You can then walk around freely within range of your hearing aids (usually 20-30 feet).
Thank you for mentioning your "cookie bite" hearing loss! That is mine too (severe head injuries). Which of these five would you recommend for the cookie loss? Thank you in advance. :)
OTC devices are capped by the FDA to certain output levels that are appropriate for mild to moderate hearing loss. For those with severe or profound loss it’s necessary to be treated by a licensed professional. It’s still possible that OTC devices lend benefit to higher hearing losses, but they aren’t recommended
Jabra Enhance Select 500 is the new version out just a month or so ago. The sound quality is nearly identical (same chip and algorithms). The big differences are the size (slightly smaller) and the Bluetooth Low Energy Audio capabilities (only available through 500).
Wrong! Hearing aids do not work like prescription glasses. Glasses can get you back to 20/20 vision but hearing aids never get you back to full hearing.
Yes, I needed a new water filter for my refrigerator, Lowes offered it to me for $59.99 plus tax, I found the exact same one on TEMU (3 for $19.99). I needed a specific type of dog harness for my 77 pound pooch, on Doggy Kingdom it was $36.00 on TEMU it was $9.48. My wife has a real problem finding bras to fit her; she is a 32C. At Nordstrom's they were well over $80 and she still had to alter them, on Temu under $20. Temu eliminates the middleman (like Jeff Bezos) and delivers direct from the factory.@@bookernoel6471
Biggest change is that the carry case now comes with portable power (instead of needing to be plugged in while charging). They also just rolled out streaming for Android devices which wasn't previously available.
We’ve had a lot of people say they loved that product! No indication they are bringing it back but hopefully that points to where the sound quality for smaller devices might go next.
The new so called Bose hearing aids is no where close to the Bose Hearphones which evidently worked too well. I've bought several pairs and I depend on them greatly. I have two pair I have never used and I won't break them out until my old ones fail. Such a shame that Bose dropped hearphones.
@@Pine4205 i know right, the "new" one are the bottom of the barrel joke. Hearphones have more useful features than the most expensive heading aids in the market. i will NEVER buy a hearing aid from the pathetic hearing aids companies, banking on social shame for "smaller"hearing aids. they even got rid of color versions. 30+years and literally no improvement.
I had the Sony CRE-C10s for 13 months. Absolutely loved them.....WHEN THEY WORKED. Had to be replaced twice under the year warranty and they failed again a month after it expired. They would not do anything except try to get me to buy a new set from them. Very poor customer service, in my opinion. A corporation the size of Sony should take better care of their customers. Very disappointed.
What legislators SHOULD have done is have Medicare and Medicaid PAY for hearing aids!!! It is in fact a disability! Medicaid in RI pays men to get breast augmentation and penal reduction which is NOT a disability!!!!
Update: Jabra Enhance Select released a new version of their flagship this week. Here's a link with more information 👉 bit.ly/3wxAcom

I bought a pair of LINNER OTC Hearing Aids for my grandfather. They offer great value for money, and I highly recommend them.
Do they reduce Tinnitus?
I don’t need a pair. Do any of these OTC aids offer single ear options? My hearing loss is in one ear with significant tinnitus in that ear,
Two thousand dollars is still more than most of us retired people can afford. Huh?
I’ve been looking into Lexie B2 Plus and Sennheiser, both around $999. Still deciding.

You need to see Audiologist and ENT

I have the Lexie B1 and very happy. Plus smaller than B2’s
Glad to hear it! And yes! Slightly smaller than the rechargeable version.
Hi You can answer cellphone calls directly from them?
Thanks!

How do i ordwr hearing aids i live in South Africa Bloemfontein
can any of these help with severe to profound hearing loss? ty
Not recommended; OTC mild losses ok
Thank you for mentioning your "cookie bite" hearing loss! That is mine too (severe head injuries). Which of these five would you recommend for the cookie loss? Thank you in advance. :)
I would recommend Jabra or Sennheiser for their customizations abilities. Both sound good to me!
Did you do a review on Blaids?
We haven’t yet. Is that product you’ve tried?
Have you reviewed TOO POWER?
Can you give me an over-the-counter device that works with severe to profound hearing loss?

How does the Jabra Enhanced Select 300 compare to the Jabra Enhanced Select 500? I though the 500 was a better, more robust model?

So, in your opinion which one is THE BEST? Which one?
That’s tough to answer with no context since they are “best” for various priorities. In general my favorites are Lexie B2 or Sennheiser.
