"Oh my new box of toys is so big it doesn't fit my filming setup.", humble brag. 😆 Some really fun bits and things to repair, I think some of the less typical items represent new challenges for you repair skills.😉 A very nice grail item, I hope it doesn't take decades to complete.🙂
The space 1999 eagle is fantastic. I look forward to you what you can do in the future to this project. You have lovely subscribers and toy-friends. Keep up the good work.
AHHH so this is what you were talking about. Awesome..... hopefully not 20 or 30 years to complete. If I find some of the missing parts in the wild I'll send 'em to ya. I hit alot of antique shops looking for parts I need for my restore/custom projects. Repair on Brother....😎
Great memories, Space 1999 was my favourite show in the '70's. I had the Green Dinky Eagle as a kid and just finished building a 25 year old AMT kit which I did not paint white. I did it to match the Dinky one I had.
All the badges in the 'What do you think you are doing Dave?' packet are from 2001: a space odyssey. There are many Mattel Eagle spares and printed upgrades about, but from the prices you'd think they were made of gold!
I do remember getting that big eagle back in the day. The box was as big as I was. I remember the helmets for the figures were really cheesy. It also had a fishing pole in the middle of the deck for some reason. The niftiest part was connecting the engines to the command module, so that you had something you could actually play with.
Hey Dave I sincerely enjoy seeing more of your videos and with the addition of TP2, it has brightened my utube time. Congrats on your gifts, i look forward to watching upcoming projects. Take care😊
Great score on that Mattel Eagle. I am nearly finished with mine, I did the peroxide retro-brighting technique, which worked out great! It took a long time to source all the missing bits, but essentially it was just a project that you throw money at to complete it.
So pleased on you finding one of your grails. Always a great moment. Do you customise as well as repair Dave. Maybe your spice girl could become a space girl 😁
I had the Eagle in the 80's. Unfortunately, like so many of my childhood toys, it didn't survive my sandbox and British Columbia weather. Great video. Have fun. 😃
You now have parts to make bionic spice. - the ship is cool. The first thing I spotted was the At-St sticker. The ones inside are rebel transport stickers. Hopefully you can salvage some of them. I wonder if you could make a second wedge to your death star. Maybe a few custom rooms to show different scenes in star wars. That would be cool
Speaking of Star Wars stickers on the Eagle, I never had a Millennium Falcon as a kid, so my Eagle "stood in" for one. Han and Chewie could fit in the cockpit if you kept one arm out of the front window.
A friend of mine refurbished a couple of these. I know he had found some folks that made replacement parts. I'll let him know you are working on one and have him reach out. He might be able to help.
Super cool unboxing. I've never seen the eagle from space 99. Definitely an awesome looking playset. I'll have to do some research of my own. Just to see what it's all about. The pins are pretty too. Now you're gonna have to get the rest of the spice girls to complete the set 😂. Happy hunting Dave, and as always thank you for the videos, and the time you put in to feed our toy addictions. Lol
13:20 might want to try the vapor version of retro bright process for that. I'm not sure of the details on the most recent version, but it doesn't require submerging parts or strong sunlight.
A fan wish… the Eagle, can you make it an ongoing series? Just a bit now and Then, maybe 1 video a month? Then we won’t have to wait a year to see more. ;) :) really looking forward to this…
You can save the original stickers by soaking in "Ronsonol" lighter petrol/fluid, which eats the glue (and evaporates clear). Using a little on a scalpel blade allows you to slide the stickers off. When they are dry, re-glue them with UHU to your chosen toy.
Yes indeed. I've been doing just that for many years. It's my go to. ua-cam.com/video/J6mODIux1e0/v-deo.html&pp=ygUTdG95IHBvbGxvaSBzdGlja2Vycw%3D%3D Cheers
They may be on the wrong ship, but a lot of those SW stickers look to be in good enough condition to soak them off and keep them back for the right vehicles in the future, that may need them.
1999 just wasn't quite as advanced as we thought, it's 2023 and still no awesome space ships traversing the galaxy However, great piece no matter the condition
That particular Six Million Dollar Man (Blue Walkie Talkie) is known as the Porta Communicator from 1976. There were two of them inside of the particular box, so that way you and your friend can pretend like you’re communicating and sending Steve on missions..

Honestly, I’d leave the Star Wars stickers as the eagle’s computers. They’ve been there 40 years, so it’s practically O.E.M. Plus one day a fan is going to recognize putting them there. My bad if you have shown it, but do you ever paint over the yellow for a better finish? Blue walkie talkie is the transmitter. A long white cable connects it to the backpack speaker. Might have come with a white helmet for the figure as well.
work on toy aisle in B&m, and never knew purose of half sock, from alternate reality. have some here, as often buy broken ? incomplete returns cheap, saving to to bundle to dave.
@@ToyPolloiTwo I had one of those big Eagles. When I saw how yellow it is, I figured it was out in the sun a long time. I can't wait to see it repaired with your ingenuity and creative clagging. I watch because I really cherish the era these toys come from. Best regards.

I’m gonna love watching the restoration of the Eagle you create.

I have fond memories of the little die cast version of this ship, I'm pretty pumped to see this one fixed.
The diecast ones are great. One of my favourite toys. This though is on another level. It's huge!
Thanks Dave, look forward to seeing that Eagle restored to its former glory.
You and me both!
I look forward to the Eagle being in a better nick.

That headless guy was wearing MEGO Spock's trousers. That's one of the figures I am looking to get. but that Eagle is amazing.
WOW that Eagle looks amazing.
Congrats on the Eagle! :)
I'm in total agreement, I'd be glad to get it in that used condition.

Nice! If you ever restore that Eagle, I'll be all over those videos... I have about 75% left of mine, and would love to do the same.

Epic unboxings as usual ! You got some great subscribers...space 1999 was a great series
Couldn't agree more!
That Eagle is amazing. I didn't even know such a large version existed.
It's massive. I didn't realise quite how large it was !
Dave ! The repair/restoration/parts fabrication of the Eagle is going to be epic. I gather it is going to take some time. Still, I can't wait...
