Even though I've been to Thailand a few times, I've never been to Chiang Mai so I can't do a comparison video and I would have to know you really well to know what's better FOR YOU. They're very different spots! In Chiang Mai you'd have all the infra-structure in place for digital nomad work. Great internet, co-working spaces etc TONS of expats (too many?) It's most certainly NOT off the beaten track and I would imagine fairly westernized. Tropical weather. Tbilisi is more of a city but keeps a small town charm, just as cheap, good internet, not tropical and colder during winter (which means snowboarding) As for beaches, you'd be better off in Thailand. The reality is, there is a lot of arrogance and shit attitudes in Georgia (lack of patience, casually lying, Soviet style straight faces, no respect for other people's solitude etc etc) not by Hospitality industry, who've obviously been conditioned, and trained to interact with humans, but when you get out into the reality, the culture still has it ingrained. The menus drive me crazy, everywhere you go - Pizza, barbecue meat, soup. When in Juta or Mestia, Kazbegi, Gudauri etc almost every menu is a photocopy of other restaurants. Same for tours, same places, same stops same times. Don't get me wrong, country and culture are terrific, but the current human society let's it down , but nobody calls it out

I’m in Istanbul now and interested to coming to Tbilisi in the near future, but was wondering, how fast are the data speeds for Magti, and also, is it possible to hotspot/tether from your phone? I’ve asked Airbnb hosts on the home Wi-Fi speeds that they have and doesn’t seem to be that sufficient so having an efficient backup is always handy. Thanks again for the great video! I learned which app to use for an Uber alternative, so thank you :)

Very informative video. I have a few additional questions - first, is Tbilisi pronounced "Ta-BLEE-si" or "tee-ba-LEE-si"? I've heard both. Second, would you recommend Georgia as a place for retirees? I'm looking on all kinds of websites for a cheap studio apartment, ground floor, with patio or garden. Internet available. Shower/bath plus toilet. Hot water and heating. Furnished. Where to look?
I don't unfortunately. Only a few airbnb tours with prices. I mainly have been using airbnb. I actually suggest you test out airbnb first and then if you're happy with your place, you can speak to the owner and try to negotiate a price outside of airbnb. You can find cheaper apartments in local listings here. I know there's a website called myhome.ge But I don't have any experience with that and the level of English is presumably lower. Best of luck to you! Thanks for watching!
Find a hostel. There are many nice new hostels in Tbilisi. 20 gel for one person. Try taking a room with 2 beds. You will have more privacy. Sleep nicely, wake up fresh in the morning go out and explore the city. Buses are cheap, avoid taxi mafia. Walk around, you will see numbers posted in balconies. Call them, check out the place. Bargain and move in. Batumi you see these signs with numbers a lot. Tbilisi not so many but still explore and you will find many.

Open a bank account in TBC bank and everything will come easily for you. Their international support is amazing. Choose a car, my opinion toyota Prius. Pay a taxi driver some extra cash and he will bring his passport and provide a permanent address for you and your car will be registered. Buy the insurance or not, it's up to you. Buy the parking pass from your TBC app if you are not in the country.
Good points and useful advice for tourists But still, a few inaccuracies - there is also another big operator besides Magti and Beeline that works 100% better than Beeline - “99.99% speaks Russian” is a miscalculation. As of today, that number may be 50% and still decreasing, while nobody cares for Russian language these days

Great video, very informative. I will take your advice about Magti, haha! I'm having to move there for work early 2022 but am monitoring the covid situation. Very scared to leave Australia at the moment :(
Hey, thanks for watching! If you're in Australia, I think it's about time for you to do some traveling. Hey! Thanks so much for watching and leaving a kind comment. :-) I 100% recommend it. Love that country! Things to keep in mind: it will be a little chilly (end of winter), low-season (which is good for prices) & because of the war next-door, prices have gone up since I was there, so it's a little pricier these days. Hey Katrine! Normally Georgia gives 1 year visas to many nationalities but I would double check who they are allowing in at the moment, because of COVID! Thanks for watching. :-)

Do you have a video on how to go about finding an apartment to rent there in Tbilisi ? what to do or what not to do etc
