As a Longhorn Alum we never for got being Screwed by the Big 12 in 2008. We lost on the last play to Tech !! We were 11-1 and beat top 10 teams all year. They let OU go play Tim Tebow's weak ass Florida team for the National Championship. Texas would have " Demolish ed" that Florida team. That cost Colt the Heisman and The National Championship which was without question Rightfully "OUR'S" . Instead we played an 11-1 Ohio St. Team in the Fiesta Bowl. That Ohio St. Team put 13 players in the 1st Three rounds of the NFL draft that year. The reason Tech won against UT last year...Simple. Xavier Worthy didn't play in the 2nd half. Plus Quinn was hurt the week before by a Cheap Shot by Bama. This year..You got to see up close & personal..The full display of how good Texas is. Texas is 1st in the nation at both 3rd down defense and red zone defense, and 4th in rushing defense and the Texas defense was a significant factor in Tech's lack of production. That said, I do think Tech also had some bad luck such as a ball bouncing off a Tech player's shoe which Jett Bush runs in for a defensive touchdown.
I agree with Casey. I was surprised why McGuire said he was proud of his teams effort after the game. I saw a team that was not prepared and didn’t show up. Coaches also had deer in the headlights

Texas has had plenty of injuries to key offensive players, and in the secondary and still got it done. Texas has had RZ issues all year or the score could have been even more lopsided. This game was all about McGuire and Yormark’s comments. Tech showed up, they just had a very motivated and focused opponent with a lot to play for
@LockedOnTexasTech I'm not on any of his socials either. But whether by his own doing or not, many of my classmates and other peers seem to just be happy that he's around. Some of them seemed quick to forget that we ever even had Shough on our team. He frequents the local bars pretty often from what I hear, So I imagine he's pretty sociable. But bottom line, much of the talk I've heard from people on campus seems to just be that he's present, and not his actual skills as a player. But Perhaps it's the crowd I'm hanging around.

Standing next to my Red Raider girlfriend, one of only two people wearing burnt orange in the building, and getting small amounts of beer steadily poured over me by a lady that was 70 at a minimum. I walked out that night gutted, getting shit talked to me by my GF, and the back of my shirt drenched in cheap beer. One of the more humiliating experiences of my life. I also remember that the first time my mom saw me drunk was after Tech embarrassed Chris Simms when I was a student and ruined a direct path to play for a Natty. After watching the Raiders ruin our shot to play for a Natty twice within apx a decade, and having been at both stadiums - anyone who says this wasn’t a great rivalry doesn’t know what they’re talking about. Much respect to the Raiders and one of college football’s great towns and game day cultures. 🫡

I don't know if play-calling would change anything, to me UT's defensive front was way too stout for our o-line. Even the gains Tahj had were basically coming after he was taking a shot or two or three at the LOS. Actually one of his more impressive individual efforts to me given the opponent, but will be for naught & lost in time due to the, yunno, 50 pt margin of defeat. Texas fan here, yall have a great RB for sure. Him, Brooks (Ours that went out w/ ACL), and OSU's are most of the Doak semi-finalist. The loss was deft fueled by the remarks from the coach last year but mostly it was the big 12 commish. He and his number two making comments really made the players focus. I will say from a fan perspective, we put yall with OSU as both dont beat us a lot but play us tough most the time and when you do win its bad and cost us a lot. Tech is the third highest in revenue in the Big 12…. Made some great moves in the facilities area…. Has a well respected coach in Texas high school circles…. Third in the state with boosters with money. You guys have the chance to run the Big 12. 1st If was your coach…. Put a full court press on DJ Lagway from Willis… he is a Florida commit…. Get him and Hudson together…. Can really do something going forward

That's a good point, the chicken or the egg... the skill positions or the big uglies.... we've tried it for many, many years w/ no meat in the middle & only flash on the outside. Longhorn here, I agree with you on our redzone execution. It’s horrendous at times and it’s not what elite teams struggle with. I think the game would have been closer and more competitive if Yormark didn’t add fuel to the fire in August. It was a classless and unprofessional move by him in my opinion. He then follows that speech with a memo on ‘sportsmanship’ in the conference. Very bad look-regardless of us leaving-we’re still in the conference for ‘23-‘24 athletics. We wanted to rip the head off of the lion sent by Cesar in the arena he was presiding over. The intention was to embarrass both Tech and Yormark, that’s the reality. A few of Brooks’ runs were pretty impressive. He gets small and runs with power, great back. I like getting views from the opposition. I love the college game and I’m not here to gloat. This coach over complicates the plays in the Red zone. The players seem confused running first time plays in the red. All he has to do is run the damn ball. What gives?

I’ve been a Longhorn since 96’ born and raised in west Texas I never had an issue with Tech till 08’ 😂 I remember the feeling of walking out of that stadium pissed from the disrespect I got leaving. I look back and laugh and see how it was still a bad ass experience. I’m gonna miss the hate and craziness of the big 12 and Lubbock Texas! Chris’s analysis was so spot on and especially the fact that we’ve seen this before and on repeat. When Texas is bigger and better and fired up they really mean to take it out on Texas Tech. Hard to admit but I thought Tech was obviously playing very hard and simply getting outmatched everywhere but managing keeping the game within arms length for a half. Aside from the game, contrary to Chris’s lament, the loss of the rivalry is the much bigger loss.

Let's talk about some positives. McAlpine showed out in that game. McRae is looking like the guy you were expecting. A lot of young players got a lot of playing time. But yeah, our lines need to be much much better. 4*-quality recruits playing as Jr's and seniors. McGuire was always a 4-5 year project, keyed on bringing the line quality up to standard. It was not better this year. Will the redshirts be ready to make an impact next year? Is there room for a true freshman to make themselves available? We shall see.
I was right behind Chris Level on the first row at the 50 at DKR Memorial Stadium. The guy next to me was reading the Texas line over and over again and telling me how much Tech was doing wrong LONG before they did it. Somehow, Tech’s coaching staff couldn’t see what we could all see from just behind them. THIS game was a COMPLETE coaching disaster.
I am from west Texas originally. My oldest brother was on the Tech fencing team in late 1940's early '50's. My brother next to me graduated Tech law school. My cousin, Rick Spinks, was ALL American football early 1950's. I had a sister-in-law graduate Tech. I was a Tech fan until Tech stabbed Mike Leach in the back. That was too much for me [and it destroyed Tech football] I was really warming up to Texas until they stabbed the Big 12 in the back. So, I watch Big 12 football, but I guess I'm a man without a team. However, I must qualify that by saying this: Anytime a team from the state of Texas is playing an out of state team, I pull for the Texas Team.😊😊😊😊

You have always had 5 star players, maybe you finally do have a 4 to 5 star coach, and you have had a 3 to 4 star fan culture. Congrats on really putting it together (first time since 2005) and you have everything in front of you this year if you don't revert to the overconfident, entitled team that often has been seen for the last 15 years. Historically, UT beats Tech (TTU 17 wins, UT 53 wins). In most cases when the game is in Austin it's a pretty severe beatdown. However, when Tech does beat UT, that victory is very sweet. The last time Tech won in Austin was 2015 (48 - 45 Tech win), and that win was AWESOME! Anybody remember the "Little Man, Big World" play?😁
As I recall it was a downpour. Chris Warren gained something 275 yards before he left the game hurt in the 3rd quarter and UT's QB, Tyrone Swoopes, could not complete a pass to save his life.
UT, and all TX and Big 12 programs bring their A game, we are the program everyone hates to lose to while UT is the program everyone loves to beat. No one really celebrates when they beat us, but there is a lot of complaining when they lose to us. The problem with the O is that there is no development. We talk about McGuire HS recruits showing promise on D, but Eakin is the only one on O and now we are talking about transfers to fill the gap. Transfer OL is pretty hit or miss with us. We are complaining about poor OL play once again & only 3 are transfers.

Texas has had plenty of injuries to key offensive players, and in the secondary and still got it done. Texas has had RZ issues all year or the score could have been even more lopsided. This game was all about McGuire and Yormark’s comments. Tech showed up, they just had a very motivated and focused opponent with a lot to play for

@LockedOnTexasTech I'm not on any of his socials either. But whether by his own doing or not, many of my classmates and other peers seem to just be happy that he's around. Some of them seemed quick to forget that we ever even had Shough on our team. He frequents the local bars pretty often from what I hear, So I imagine he's pretty sociable. But bottom line, much of the talk I've heard from people on campus seems to just be that he's present, and not his actual skills as a player. But Perhaps it's the crowd I'm hanging around.

TexasEx here. I was literally in the Texas Tech alumni center during that 08 game. Standing next to my Red Raider girlfriend, one of only two people wearing burnt orange in the building, and getting small amounts of beer steadily poured over me by a lady that was 70 at a minimum.
I walked out that night gutted, getting shit talked to me by my GF, and the back of my shirt drenched in cheap beer. One of the more humiliating experiences of my life.
I also remember that the first time my mom saw me drunk was after Tech embarrassed Chris Simms when I was a student and ruined a direct path to play for a Natty.
After watching the Raiders ruin our shot to play for a Natty twice within apx a decade, and having been at both stadiums - anyone who says this wasn’t a great rivalry doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
Much respect to the Raiders and one of college football’s great towns and game day cultures. 🫡
Already over it lol expected to lose. Expected us to play better but all things considered especially the strengths and weaknesses of each team the outcome was not altogether surprising. I don't know if play-calling would change anything, to me UT's defensive front was way too stout for our o-line. Even the gains Tahj had were basically coming after he was taking a shot or two or three at the LOS. Actually one of his more impressive individual efforts to me given the opponent, but will be for naught & lost in time due to the, yunno, 50 pt margin of defeat. Texas fan here, yall have a great RB for sure. Him, Brooks (Ours that went out w/ ACL), and OSU's are most of the Doak semi-finalist. The loss was deft fueled by the remarks from the coach last year but mostly it was the big 12 commish. He and his number two making comments really made the players focus. I will say from a fan perspective, we put yall with OSU as both dont beat us a lot but play us tough most the time and when you do win its bad and cost us a lot. Hope all goes well in the bowl game, happy to hear the kid is okay too. Hook 'EM!

Tech is the third highest in revenue in the Big 12…. Made some great moves in the facilities area…. Has a well respected coach in Texas high school circles…. Third in the state with boosters with money. You guys have the chance to run the Big 12. 1st If was your coach…. Put a full court press on DJ Lagway from Willis… he is a Florida commit…. Get him and Hudson together…. Can really do something going forward
I want full court presses on OTs, OGs, & DTs. Without those WR is probably the least impactful position on a team, but would love for Micah Hudson to prove me wrong next year. Thanks for the comment #GunsUp

I agree with you on our redzone execution. It’s horrendous at times and it’s not what elite teams struggle with.
I think the game would have been closer and more competitive if Yormark didn’t add fuel to the fire in August.
It was a classless and unprofessional move by him in my opinion. He then follows that speech with a memo on ‘sportsmanship’ in the conference. Very bad look-regardless of us leaving-we’re still in the conference for ‘23-‘24 athletics.
We wanted to rip the head off of the lion sent by Cesar in the arena he was presiding over. The intention was to embarrass both Tech and Yormark, that’s the reality.
A few of Brooks’ runs were pretty impressive. He gets small and runs with power, great back.
I like getting views from the opposition. I love the college game and I’m not here to gloat. I enjoy your content, amongst others.

This coach over complicates the plays in the Red zone. The players seem confused running first time plays in the red. All he has to do is run the damn ball. What gives?

Totally agree. Sark has a tendency to do that, like that disastrous set of plays at the goal line against OU. Hopefully he’s realized that the red area isn’t always a place to overthink and throw in gadget plays.

I’ve been a Longhorn since 96’ born and raised in west Texas I never had an issue with Tech till 08’ 😂 I remember the feeling of walking out of that stadium pissed from the disrespect I got leaving. I look back and laugh and see how it was still a bad ass experience. I’m gonna miss the hate and craziness of the big 12 and Lubbock Texas! Wish yall luck and excited to beat some Aggie 🍑 starting next year!

Chris’s analysis was so spot on and especially the fact that we’ve seen this before and on repeat. When Texas is bigger and better and fired up they really mean to take it out on Texas Tech. Hard to admit but I thought Tech was obviously playing very hard and simply getting outmatched everywhere but managing keeping the game within arms length for a half. Aside from the game, contrary to Chris’s lament, the loss of the rivalry is the much bigger loss.

Let's talk about some positives.
McAlpine showed out in that game.
McRae is looking like the guy you were expecting.
A lot of young players got a lot of playing time.
But yeah, our lines need to be much much better. 4*-quality recruits playing as Jr's and seniors. McGuire was always a 4-5 year project, keyed on bringing the line quality up to standard. It was not better this year. Will the redshirts be ready to make an impact next year? Is there room for a true freshman to make themselves available? We shall see.
I was right behind Chris Level on the first row at the 50 at DKR Memorial Stadium. The guy next to me was reading the Texas line over and over again and telling me how much Tech was doing wrong LONG before they did it. Somehow, Tech’s coaching staff couldn’t see what we could all see from just behind them. THIS game was a COMPLETE coaching disaster.
I am from west Texas originally. My oldest brother was on the Tech fencing team in late 1940's early '50's. My brother next to me graduated Tech law school. My cousin, Rick Spinks, was ALL American football early 1950's. I had a sister-in-law graduate Tech.
I was a Tech fan until Tech stabbed Mike Leach in the back. That was too much for me [and it destroyed Tech football]
I was really warming up to Texas until they stabbed the Big 12 in the back. So, I watch Big 12 football, but I guess I'm a man without a team.
However, I must qualify that by saying this: Anytime a team from the state of Texas is playing an out of state team, I pull for the Texas Team.😊😊😊😊

You have always had 5 star players, maybe you finally do have a 4 to 5 star coach, and you have had a 3 to 4 star fan culture. Congrats on really putting it together (first time since 2005) and you have everything in front of you this year if you don't revert to the overconfident, entitled team that often has been seen for the last 15 years. It was the perfect storm with everything going right for you and everything wrong for us. You should get in the playoff, and if so I hope you win it all!

I wish I could have heard Level's specific opinion regarding no show or out gunned. I am just speaking in terms of final score. Were we as out gunned as the score indicates, or was it a mix of that plus not showing up? I thought the Vegas spread was realistic if Tech brought their A game...
Historically, UT beats Tech (TTU 17 wins, UT 53 wins). In most cases when the game is in Austin it's a pretty severe beatdown. However, when Tech does beat UT, that victory is very sweet. The last time Tech won in Austin was 2015 (48 - 45 Tech win), and that win was AWESOME! Anybody remember the "Little Man, Big World" play?😁
As I recall it was a downpour. Chris Warren gained something 275 yards before he left the game hurt in the 3rd quarter and UT's QB, Tyrone Swoopes, could not complete a pass to save his life.
UT, and all TX and Big 12 programs bring their A game, we are the program everyone hates to lose to while UT is the program everyone loves to beat. No one really celebrates when they beat us, but there is a lot of complaining when they lose to us.
The problem with the O is that there is no development. We talk about McGuire HS recruits showing promise on D, but Eakin is the only one on O and now we are talking about transfers to fill the gap. Transfer OL is pretty hit or miss with us. We are complaining about poor OL play once again & only 3 are transfers.
We don’t celebrate as much after beating Tech, because you’re not blow u or Alabama etc. You’re are little brother. 🤣

Glad we were able to play y’all with Quinn at the helm. Last season was upsetting and with Quinn at QB, Texas can compete with ANY team.

Kittley and the Offense never really got it figured out this year. And what happened to Bradley this year? First team all big 12 and he seems checked out.
The crazy thing with Bradley is he very rarely got any jump balls. I feel like they used him as a route runner this year.
If their name ain’t miles price, our receivers ain’t much to talk about. It just hasn’t made sense all season. No separation, seemingly limited route running/route tree period. I’ve stopped trying to figure it out, but the regression of our passing game is glaring
