Retro album reactions??? Ohhh I'm so here for it
Pls do more throwback album reactions!
Looking forward to Linkin Park eventually.
Doing old albums is a great idea, would love to see more of these!.
The bridge in "Science" is still one of the best thing I ever heard in a song
Wow, what a glad surprise. Is this new type of content? This is fire 👀🔥
this was one of the most fun streams in quite a while . Would love do have more of those throwbacks in the future :)
I literally remember the first time I heard the one two punch of Prison Song and Needles. My friend Matt was playing it through his huge JVC stereo in 2003. "What the FUCK is this?!? Can I get more of it?!?"
One of the most game-changing, complete metal albums ever.
Maaaannn remember listening to this album in 2001...I was 11 and didn't understand the message...but once I got "bigger" I realised this album is epic masterpiece and classic material :) great reaction btw (Forest is also my most fav song off this album)
had no time to catch this one full stream but its so cool youre doing some different stuff from usual reactions. not that I love them less, its always so good to listen to song together with yall
and hope hybrid theory comes soon haha
Thank you so much for this video. Really. I hope you're going to do this with more old albums.
I love the idea of doing a reaction vid for a classic album followed by a video essay style vid on the same band! I'll definitely check it out!
I really liked your stuff in the past but now you tell me you're a big ass soad fan. Bogdan, I think I'm in love! I'm reeeeaaaally looking forward to seeing your retro reactions
Would love more throwback reactions!
Just got to see them live at SNW. They still sound fucking amazing, Toxicity is a certified classic and a masterpiece.
Oh hell yeah, I'll take some old-time-banger album reactions!!
saw someone say this on the live chat, we need either hybrid theory or meteora next
It'd be super cool for you to check out these OG albums and see if they still hold up.
this is the best content you've put out in years, i often thought that i'd like to see your re-reaction to older stuff like there is a hell by bring me the horizon (imo their best album by far)
You should react to Hollow Bodies, this is like a blend of Post Hardcore and Currents/Invent Animate's core
I'm down with this type of content
I probably speak for many of us when I say “sooooooo many bands /albums to check out…so little time”. We need retro deep dives. TY BOGDAN🔥
True story.. I’ll hear songs and load them onto a playlist to check out later. My list is growing so fast btw 🤣. A few days ago I heard “Sugar” by SOTD for the first time. Added it right away. Before that…Chop Suey was my only SOTD. Then Bogdan does a deep dive into Toxicity!! Parallel Metal Universe 🤘 nice 😊
This album was life changing. My gateway to metal
Pls do more classic albums! That's so cool 😍
Oh man! If you're doing reactions to things that arent new then No Place by A Lot Like Birds is my favorite post hardcore album ever, I think you'd like it
Forever a Banger dude
Please do their first album next!
I remember buying this album on release, then 4 months later getting it signed. They went from barely known to well known by normies so quickly.
The live show was chaotic, only time a band member has spat on me…
This album, for me, is probably the best of my lifetime. It set up a lot of my musical taste for the rest of my life. I haven’t listened to it in about 10 years, but I think about it regularly.
So down for listening to some of the GOATS
If your doing old albums, PLEASE do Swan Songs by Hollywood Undead, or just any of there old albums. I’ll be happy with any
Toxicity was the first CD I ever bought. I was on a school trip in 2018 and I bought it out of curiosity and has been one of my favourite albums ever since
AHHHHH MORE THROWBACK ALBUMS PLSSSSS
Fun Fact: Serj picked a random book out his library to find lyrics for a section of Chop Suey. It was the "Why have you forsaken me" part and its from the bible.
A great throwback album. 🤘
6:00 "Chop Suey" was also originally titled just "Suicide" but the label didn't like it so they just "Chopped" the word in half "Chop - Sui". If you listen closely at the beginning you hear them say "Rolling Suicide"
Always been my favorite band
The only album I know every lyric 'til this day.
Dude yes! Forest is by far the best SOAD song. Love the throwback reactions.
I would love a Demanufacture reaction. Fear Factory pioneered so many things that we take for granted in modern metal on that album. The riffs are stanky too.
Serj has the most clean, yet crushing vocal style in music. He absolutely kills every song on this album. A bona-fide 10/10. Perfection defined.
So I am old fan here (34 y) and I love seen this generation engaging in the metal scenario not just for the noise but for the cause (politics, social awareness, war, etc). Coudles on that!
Quick facts about soad (from someone who grew up listening to them)
1 :Lyrics: You wont find a single time any of the band members explaining about their songs. They leave it to the audience. Since music is art you dont label it
2 :Creative differences: As you said, yes that has been going on for while, and for sure prevented them for releasing new content. Serj has said that he doesnt want to tour anymore, and on his recently release book/memour he said: “ I told the guys to try a new singer, to replace me”. They tried secretly but that did not work, according to Shavo the “new guy” growling and screaming wasnt near as good as Serj. So they decided to move on as it is, and only tour and perform whenever it was ok for Serj. It all happend in 2017. Guess they stull have that agreement
3 :Serj never wanted to record the Mez/Hyp. He even claimed that he does not sound as connected on the last two album, as he was in the first three records.
4 :Recorded material: John said that they have material recorded from the 2005 era that did not fit any of the two albums. Back in 2009/2010 when the band was in Hiatus, there was a rumour flowing over the net that an album supposedly called “Apologize”, would be released (similar to what happen with STA) and the band would be back. Well, they were back on tour but the album never got released. However, this songs were recorded again in 2015 when they attempted to make new material (According to John and Serj), but due to creative differences, naming rights, the projects never got finished.
5 :In about 2010/Shavo wrotte down on his twitter, what the fans would think about a new soad vocalist and other things. He shared other posts, like enraged with the whole situation. He deleted it and then the official page of the band posted that they would be back together whenever the whole band felt like the moment was right (Probably wrotte by Serj)
PS: Just watched them in SNW 2024. They still sound amazing , and energetic. All their content as a band is extra ordinary, mind blowing. As long as they trully want to record something it would be amazing, but if they are only doing this “new record” to honor the fans, or doing it while putting up with inside drama, they better leave the 5 bad boys as a legacy. For me they were always a remarkable example of putting heart and soul in what you do, regardless of what everyone thinks.
Peace 🤟🏻
First album i ever bought witu my own money 💜💜💜
down for it!
Self-titled album is such a good album dude, some of their best tracks are on there if you're into the heavier side of SOAD. Would highly recommend familiarising yourself with it my man
Please listen to Alura, the disappearing act.
I almost forgot how fking good this album is, almost no songs that I'd skip. Everything is a banger.
ATV Off-road Fury 2 on PS2 had Science by SOAD and Here to Stay by Korn, and that was so much more influential to my music tastes than I give it credit for. They don’t make riffs like that Science riff anymore
Mid 2000s games literally shaped my music tastes. All the Tony Hawk, MX vs ATV, and Madden games lmao
I love System of a Down by chop suey, that song changed my life.
Mezmerize* is still the greatest album ever !
i prefer the self-titled, but all of their albums are great in their own way!
This is maybe a hot take but I think that Mezmerize and Hypnotize are their 2 best albums. I love Toxicity and their self titled as well. But their last to records felt way more creative to me💪
X is my favorite song off this album. Had me moshing in my room when i was 7
Вітання, пан!
Bro. I NEED your reaction to Linkin Park's Reanimation. Not enough people talk about this god damn masterpiece.
Aerials is by far my favorite song from them
bro you gotta react to Slipknot self titled - Vol. 3
I would love to see you react to “The Satanist” by Behemoth
The greatest Black Metal album of all time
Ponlo completo 🤬🤬
It's really a shame Serj and Daron were never able to truly work out their creative differences. I feel for Serj since System was his outlet for writing his poetry and political activism at the time and then suddenly Mesmerize/Hypnotize happened and he only got to write 2 songs in two full albums of music. Like it's no wonder he ran out and released a solo album a year later.
👏👏👏👏👏
System is a GOATED band. When they dropped Chop Suey! I fucking shit myself
SOAD = GOAT
12:48 is a shocking take IMO.
you can't deny how much harder that solo/ending hits live tho ;)
@bogdanhxc I genuinely wanted to hear your reaction to that 1 part of the entire album.
One of my all time favourite solos and endings ❤️
Wage war dropped a new song
System of a Down is awesome, too bad they stopped releasing music during the prime of their careers
Best cover of SOAD's Chop Suey is still Lil Uzi Vert. Extremely talented multidiversional artist that did an epic cover, if you know what I mean. :D
I disagree but it is hugely influential and a massive win for getting metal widespread
Fun facts:
Shimmy is actually about the failure of public school systems.
Toxicity is about Armenia.
I know Wiki tries saying there were only two songs written about Armenia pre-Protect The Land, but I believe that's wrong. You can see it in so many songs. Toxicity is one of them.
I've always hated soad with a passion the vocals suck so bad imo 😅
Slava Ukraini!!!
I will die on this hill that System of Down is hella overrated. Vocals are bad
You're entitled to your opinion but you're dying alone on that hill brother
I mean i respect that but you are wrong 😂
L take
I never liked his voice
It's hard to get past for me
I think it's better on hypnotize/mesmerize
That might be why I never liked the band. Except a few songs here and there
Worst band ever.
