As a European i say it's foolish to trust our defense on any outside force, anything can happen. Be self sufficient, that's the key.
@michaelpezzullo3591 No, the USA had to make nato, and getting Europe to join instead of then siding with Russia. If tramp gets in power, maybe Russia will try to invade Alaska and Europe will let tramp deal with the Russians alone. You know. Just maybe.
@@straightreject2947😂 As if America isn’t the center of military power anyways, if sh*t hits the fan we’re going to have to get involved no matter what because our leaders are globalist supporters, they’d never put American interests first over the European ones.
@@straightreject2947 😅🤡
You must have been born in the 60s. If it wasn’t for the United States and the Marshal Plan that rebuilt Western Europe after WW II, everyone in Europe would be speaking Russian today.
@@straightreject2947 Incorrect. NATO was a direct result of WW2. However, it did evolve thru'out the cold war in response to RU and other threats. The US created the Marshall Plan to help rebuild Europe to stabilize the economy and social/political enemies like the neo-Nazism movement post war. Ruzzia was trying to destabilize Europe in order to be "their savior" and to push the merits of communism. If you want(ed) to side with Russia you could have then and can still now. However, the US didn't want to run Europe but be partners. NATO was a way to help ensure that everyone that wanted to have a free society could do so without threat.
The US has not threatened Europe with war...Russia has.
Once the cold war started to gain footing, things got a bit messier, and Europe was perceived as a direct to threat to russia and even a pawn used buy ru to further the cold war.
When did the cold war stop? When russia stopped being an 💩🤡
But here we are again. POOPler using Europe as a scapegoat for escalation.
The US has arguably done more for peace in Europe than any other nation...ever.
No Canadians were threatened in the attack, the embassy was abandoned some time ago (2012 I believe).

May be worth mentioning that the Canadian Emabssy has been empty for quite a while. That is rather important.

We don‘t know what will happen in November. Would be a bad idea to count on somebody who is unstable. So, Europe should be ready for everything. Greetings from Switzerland.
Switzerland, aka don't even fuckin think about thinking about it, buster!
Interesting coming from Switzerland - Neutral through two World Wars
"During World War I and World War II, Switzerland maintained armed neutrality, and was not invaded by its neighbours, in part because of its topography, much of which is mountainous."
The CEO of RheinMetall makes a very good point and a very realistic one, Washington has failed Ukraine in their time of need despite the security guarantee that was signed in the Budapest Memorandum. Six months of ifs and buts and still no support. It's clearly a mistake to depend on Washington and make plans hoping for support from Washington.
America hasn't failed Ukraine because it's not our responsibility. Americans pay taxes and have next to no social safety nets. We instead fund war everywhere else making it more affordable for those citizens in other countries. I have no desire to see Russia win against Ukraine but this isn't "free money". We are footing the bill and we have sent a hell of a lot of money already. Why do we have to spend more of our budget on war than the rest of NATO exactly? Most of the members of NATO aren't even spending 2% of their effing budget on defense. Why exactly do my children have to pay for it? I've looked at the numbers. I resent hearing Washington failed Ukraine.
It's not about USA being totally unreliable and I don't even blame them for the delay we're seeing right now - big thanks to Americans for the support so far! But we need to be able to take care of ourselves as well. Presidents change, situations change, there's always something unpredictable. Our weapons industry means faster logistics, more experienced specialists and it means deterrence, as well as the capability to help our allies with their crises.
The Rheinmetall dude definitely wants his company to make money - that's his job - doesn't mean he doesn't have a point.
Very true! Also, it's not like Europe has always supported the us....
@@kaltenburg2637 with a few exceptions europe has backed up the US. but a stronger europe, less reliant on US backing, means the US can spend more time on other fronts. the pacific has been neglected for a while. china feels it can do whatever it likes to it's neighbors. that never should have been allowed to happen. I wonder how north korea would react if japan shot down a few of those ballistic missile tests they do to gain attention?
@@warhorse03826 you are definitely correct... the collective west assumed the end of the cold war meant an end to threats to civilized order. Clearly, this was not the case, and both Europe and the us needed to stay in top of military spending

We built a Rheinmetall factory in my part of Australia a few years ago. I think it makes sense to build more factories in preparation of a larger escalation. We still need US support 100%. I said it before. If it wasn't for our allies and especially USA I'd be speaking Chinese right now .😅

RE: that insulation factory - I spent a bit of time between a couple of my TV jobs working for a buddy's brother's company installing computer LANs in factories in the late 1980s. One jobsite was in a wiring factory. There are so many caustic materials and weird plastics involved in insulating wire that there was a constant stink of molten plastic through the place. So bad that when the job was finished, I threw out all the clothes I wore on the site (I could still smell it). I see the flames & that thick black smoke in the Visegrad vid, and think, '..there's no way they're putting that one out.' There's some really nasty stuff in those places.
I could smell burning plastic when I started the video! LOL
Has to be a coincidence but reading your message made me laugh.
I had the same thought, that smoke is a toxic cloud of death and the fire inside that building is going to be ridiculously hot and difficult to put out. Sadly this is one of the side effects of modern warfare is the massive polluting events like this one and any oil/gas refinery, especially in a country like ruzzia where environmental policies are non-existent.
Interesting, that factory didn't seem to be too well insulated - certainly not against fire.
This won't end well !

--somewhat valid point - Thanks Matt.
Rheinmetall has a point, europe cannot rely on the US....
its also a very good business trick, but yes i agree.
Even Rheinmetall could not survive without US contracts sadly. BAE are the only huge defence company in Europe and they are a small fraction of a company like Lockheed Martin. The USA still owns war they are responsible for half of all war exports. Germany and the UK are about 3% each. We have a long way to go before being close to self sufficient. All of our European weapon systems have American parts in them. We really just need larger armed forces not companies. I'd rather use US made equipment than homegrown anyway as we cannot compete. Their fighter jets are a perfect example of just how far ahead of the rest of the planet they are. F-22s blow Typhoons out of the water in almost every aspect that matters. Their stealth capability alone makes them better than any other aircraft other than f-35s.
And why should we? You all hate us Americans but then when crap hits the fan we're expected to save the world.
Can't rely on Germany either Sadly
@@richbob9155 No one but the US will ever have f22s tho'. f35 would more likely be seen across the globe, with the latest versions owned by the US alone.
I agree with you that it is good to build a military infrastructure (alliances, bases, personnel, ammo, ground attack/defense machines, etc) It is expensive to keep on top of the latest tech. But there's a lot more to a military than just secret airplanes and big boats. Each nation should figure out how best to support themselves directly via homegrown machines and training or via purchases. Also make strong alliances with your neighbors.
Both! Valid point and business

@@robgrey6183 No argument about Americans protecting Europe against the Soviets, although America has benefited considerably from the resulting global prosperity, so it's not without a return on its investment. The US has a duty to the defence treaties it is part of. They are honour bound to come to the defence of its allies. Ukraine is sadly a different matter as it is not part of NATO. I do not believe the US would betray Europe, as it is a trustworthy country that honours its commitments. Therefore, the CEO is talking nonsense. However, that doesn’t mean Europe should completely rely on the US. Obviously, all European countries should prepare for war.
US is a big customer of Rheinmetall. If they are warning about the issues about US in beeing loyal to EU, they will have some information, we ar not aware of.
