My sister just got me a set for my birthday and i was so excited, but I had no clue where to start! This has been immensely helpful and I’m going to make my first bowl now!!!!
I was told rubbing the matcha in the softer can bring out bitterness in the tea. It was recommended to simply shake the sifter to remove the risk of creating a bitter flavor. 👍🏼
One important point is that water temperature is recommended to be 80 C or a little bit lower so that the delicate matcha is not burned by higher temperature water and losses its bright green color and turns bitter.
I feel like 60 ml of water for 2 grams of matcha powder is too low. Can we do like 2.84 grams (half tsp) of matcha powder for 118.294 ml (half cup) of water?
Thank you for this! I got a Japanese matcha kit and wasn't able to make my own froth, even though I swear I've been able to whisk other foods before. Turns out the instructions on the kit I have say to use about the same matcha powder but double the water. I drank half of it, then used your technique and started to get froth. 😄
Awwww first off: thank you so much!!! I’m so touched that you mentioned me. 🥰🥰🥰 Second: this is exactly what I needed. So informative and excellent information!! 🙌 Question: do you leave the whisk on the holder in between sessions or just to dry? Thanks so much!!! 🥰🙌🙌🙌
U say your not a expert matcha whisker but then u whisked it sooo much better than me i almost feel depressed lollll, i really need to get better at using my wrist lol
@@thebarefoottealady i tried 70°c water first then eventually switched to 100. It's opened a lot but still not fully. I've put it on the stand to set in shape and I'll try again tomorrow
How about doing a Battle of matcha gear. Together with a matcha battle Cheapo VS Normal VS expensive For the Cheapo you Source everything from Aliexpress/wish for the Normal one you use the Gear you already have {Assuming they are not from aliexpress/wish} For the Expensive You look at the ones supplied by a Ceremonial Matcha Tea store. And have Friends Taste test it Blindfolded. So they do not know what cup is what. For the Matcha you can use Something like: Cheapo: Culinary matcha Normal: Standard quality Matcha Expensive: Ceremonial Grade So they all have to taste test 9 Cups of matcha.
I have done a video where I compare a traditional whisk to an electric frother. As far as cheap vs. expensive, that would be a fairly involved conversation about craftsmanship (traditionally, part of the tea ceremony is to examine the tea scoop, which was often the most prized part of the tea kit) and aesthetics vs. function. It's an interesting idea, but I should probably do a bit more study with an actual master first!
@@thebarefoottealady They do not have to be 9 Normal sized Bowls. What you can do is Use Shot-glasses for the test. so the Amount of Matcha they would drink is at most 2 Cups. for the test of the Whisk maybe do that together with a Professional and have him/Her explain why a Good whisk is better than the Cheapest thing you can find. Was asking it since i recently got some "Culinary class" matcha Myself. {bought Culinary mainly since it was the first time buying, and I mainly wanted to use it in recipes, and Occasionally drink it} and if i Like it i might start looking into More expensive Gear/Matcha powder. ur forgetting a very important thing, macha will lose the health benefits, and the taste will be altered if you use metal with it. its the reason why you use bamboo scoops etc
This is entirely false and has absolutely nothing to do with this video. I drink matcha for the experience and the flavor, not for any supposed health benefits. The reason for using bamboo is that steel wasn't widely used in the 16th century when the matcha ceremony was codified.

Omg!!! My sister got me set too😭 but for eid not for my birthday.
Same
I’m a big tea gal, but I’ve never made matcha. My mom got me a matcha set and I had no idea how to make it, so I’m glad I found this video. 😊
Thank you for the basics! My girlfriend got me a matcha set and learning more about this practice makes me excited to drink matcha every morning!
Just opened my bday present and got so exited!! Thank you so much for this video, can not wait to share matcha with my family and friends

Thank you so much for creating this intro video! I was curious as to how to prep my whisk. I appreciate you!
Very helpful! Thank you so much!!
I just get a matcha set and your video is going to help me a lot! You basically answer all my question withou tell :) Thank you!
P
Dry the warmed bowl, so the powder doesn’t stick to the bottom.
Lift the whisk slightly & whisk over the surface gently to pop the larger bubbles.
I got my matcha 🍵 set for Christmas and now I know that there’s a holder for your Matcha Wes
I so identify with that face when I take a sip of good tea/matcha.. :) I finally got the whisker, so thanks for this video.
Absolutely in love with the Matcha series that is presented, oh yeah I found the Blog too!!! LOL

I almost tasted that matcha tea just by watching you taste it and also felt how delicious it was. Isn't it weird and amazing at the same time? 😁
Great video, thanks!

I definitely leave my whisk on my stand all the time -- it sits perfectly in the bowl in my cupboard!

I got a match a set and I thought the risk was damage but with your information on going to try again thank you good
Do I just leave my matcha whisk on that stand?
This is like a cool montessori practical life work 👍👍👍great preparation
I was so excited i didn't prepare my whisk and used it while curled 😭
Great informative vidéo. Thanks !!!
Thank you that's a great video it explains a lot.
I don’t have money to buy matcha what should I do?
My whisk did not open, even after the warm water.
Wonderful video!
Thank you!
How long do you leave your whisk in water. Mine is still curled up
Looking at the raw footage, it looks like it was just a couple minutes. Are you using hot water?

Not really, just enthusiastic about it ;)

Wow…I just used my whisk for the first time and simply because of hygiene I boiled it
