I am SO happy I came across your channel! I have been selling decals on mercari for a year now and have never mastered how to neatly pack them. I include all you have minus the cardboard and this is such a PERFECT way to protect them! Thank you! You should do a channel on how to have a successful Etsy shop. I tried and failed lol
Thank you for posting this video. You do a lot of little extra things that I think make your product stand out. Question. Do you include the time it takes in with your cost? And if so, how do you determine the value for this?
Thank you so much for your video. I received a custom order of 14 vinyl decals and had no idea on how to package then. I know you use to create vinyl orders and I looked up your videos and found this video. It was so very helpful. Thank you!!!
Okay wow! Thank you for such great tips! I’m trying to start my own decal small business and I’ve been doing so much research. This video was so insightful 💕

How much does it usually cost to ship these? I'm trying to decide on a mailing method myself, and I'm thinking of using rigid mailers. I think the Etsy shipping estimates are a little steep (like $4+ for a 6x8 envelope), so I'm really trying to determine how much it actually costs.
Love your channel and so glad I came across it! I also have an Etsy shop selling similar products! I’ve only been selling wood signs to family and friends because I haven’t figured out the best way to ship them! How do you ship them and how much do they typically cost?
Thank you so much for this video. It was a great help. How did you make your vinyl decal application instruction sheets? It looks like a sticker, if so what size is it? So glad I found your channel!
Christy just Google "instructions for applying vinyl decals" and you will find various options. Design Bundles also has a template that you can purchase if you don't want to make your own.
A quick tip, instead of adding the single popcorn thingy, you can use an envelope with the bubble wrap inside, or a sheet of bubble wrap :) (The popcorn is probably less expensive, but I’m afraid the customer will watch it fall out and think I’m crazy lol)
Thank you for this, Sallie! Very helpful and very thorough. :) I'm wondering where you got the instructions for applying the decal, or did you create them yourself? Thanks again! :)
This is amazing. You're so knowledgeable i just binged your channel. I wanted to know if you created the vinyl instructions yourself or where did you buy them? Sending many blessings
Great video! Is there a link for the cardstock you use to prevent bending? I’m planning to open an etsy shop and I need something sturdy to prevent bending on cake toppers. Is there something you recommend?
Thank you! I get them at hobby lobby! It is called "heavy duty cardstock". If I was doing cake toppers I would probably use cardboard cut to the size of your topper, just to be extra safe!
Have you shown how you make or where you get your custom stickers from that you use on the little white plastic cards? Much appreciated! I look up to you so much! You provide great videos, tips, etc.!!
Thanks for the extremely helpful video and tips! How do you ship a 24” long vinyl decal? Would you cut them down or do you send it whole! I guess maybe rolled like you mentioned? I have a customer who wants to order several but Im not sure how to ship them to her. So hard love doing vinyl decals but its a little stressful. Hugs. Christine
I love your 4x6 label. Can you share how you make your labels and the content you include in this large label? I am really keen on this packaging method for my car decal business. I love you videos and watch all the time.
awesome tutorial. looking for something to put on back of my HTV design to send but can`t find the name of paper. Sitting on floor is ADHD and Autism trait lol apparently. i love floor time too
Where can I find the blue background from your decals. I find it really hard with my white decals that are not visible. Appreciate the advice, thank you.
Question, i noticed that you pack your decals just attached to the back of the blue sticker backing ( not sure what its called). You dont put it to a transfer tape? For them to easily apply?
Hi! My decals do have transfer tape over the top. I use a clear/see through transfer tape called "rtape clear choice at65". Hope this answers your question 😊
Hello, I sell decals and in the summer I've had a handful of people tell me the decals won't detach from the backing. I'e tried pre peeling them but for some that still doesn't work. Do you have any ideas on how to prevent this?
When you go to print your invoices, there is an option under printing where you can select two pages at once. It was a game changer when I started doing it this way!
@@SimplySallie Thank you! Is that something Etsy has already set up where I can download all open orders invoices and then print them two per page or would I have to do that myself manually? Thanks again.
She doesn't. She's selling the decals directly, so she cuts the decals out of the vinyl, weeds them, and then puts transfer tape over the top. The vinyl doesn't get removed from its original carrier sheet until the person is actually applying it to something. Usually the only time you would be moving vinyl from its original sheet to another sheet is if you are making layered decals.
What is the light blue vinyl type backing you use with the decals when shipping? I’m new to decals and am trying to figure out the process when you burnish the decal on the transfer taped then back on the backing? A little confusing at first.
I sell decals on eBay and been afraid of selling thins bigger than 8.5” know I started selling 12.5” decals and I got my first order today but I need to keep shipping cost low
I would definitely recommend rolling them up with the vinyl side up if you're doing long decals. I just had run out of my boxes I use, so I did it the cardboard method in this video. Good luck with your first sale, so exciting! If I can help with anything let me know 😊
Is there a certain brand of vinyl that has the blue background? My colored vinyl has the same color background and u can't see the image for packaging?
Question, how much you charge for decals , and how you deal with the weight , if you charge 2 dollars stickers but your shipping is 5 dollars because of the weight i dont see the bussines , make a video about it thank you
Decals are one of those items that are pretty cheap to ship depending on your method. I will definitely make a video on this soon! Thanks for the recommendation.
First class mail letter/small package cost $2.39 - $3.60 for me buying the USPS labels off Etsy vs USPS website since Etsy discounts it. Some shops do free shipping and ship in a regular envelope with stamps and don’t offer tracking unless you pay for the extra shipping charge.
How do you do your shipping labels? I have a usps account & a scale... how do you know the labels are paying enough for shipping.. or are these labels created because of your Etsy shop? Because sometimes I just take orders from family / friends and need to know the best way to ship without always having to go to the post office. Any suggestions?
Sallie, do you not include a transfer sheet with the decal? Is that not necessary? I’ve seen a lot of people transfer the decal onto a surface that way!
I was thinking of using kraft or chipboard USPS approved for letter envelopes to send my smaller decals in. That way I can use just a regular stamp to ship. Do you know if that would work? Good to know about the packing peanut too. I think a couple of my orders were lost because they may have been too thin when I sent them first class.
I used to ship this way, and it is great and cheap, although I wouldn't recommend it 100% because orders are slow and get lost constantly and you do not have a way to track it . Most customers are willing to pay for shipping for the peace of mind. Hope this helps! 😊
I’m wondering why my shipping labels print up looking different then yours from Etsy (and most peoples I see lol ) mine don’t come up with the big barcode down them it’s like just a tiny barcode in the upper corner and then the persons address small in the middle and my return small in the other corner. after the decal is complete on the backing paper u keep transfer tape ontop of it to send off so the person can use the tape to put to any surface? (Finished my first decal recently after many errors) my transfer tape isn’t clear which made it a challenge to line up for layering a decal
Simply Sallie so do you put the sticky side of the transfer tape ? I’m so confused. I cut out a bunch of small iron on ( for masks ). So I have the decal and the heavy paper you keep on it ( the part the iron goes on top). But the back isn’t sticky enough to stay on my parchment paper. I don’t want to send them off with the back still sticky.
Do you provide instructions for your customers on how to apply the decal? I see you are providing a Alcohol prep pad as well as a a plastic card for burnishing.
