      Good morning! Happy it helped a little. Funny thing, that blade is probably the most simplest looking attachment I have, and it took me forever to eventually learn how to use it ( I'm still learning). LOL. Best of luck and all the best!

    Good job. Box blades take a bit of practise to use. “A few minutes to learn, a lifetime to master!” Lol
    I know with mine, at the end I like to lengthen the top link as far as I can so you are only dragging the rear blade
    on the ground and it does a great job for the final grade instead of dragging your bucket around.

      Quick question for you. If you want your blade to dig more or less, do you tilt the box blade by increasing or reducing the length of the top link? Thanks!

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 років тому

      Good morning Joe. I was told by several subs that if you want it to dig more , you lengthen the top link, so I always shorten it to tilt the top of the box towards the tractor. It seems to work well for me as it never digs in too much, but always just enough. Cheers!

    Gp i love my box blade. When I got my tractor about 3 months ago, one of the empliments I ordered was the box blade. After the second day when the wife was out of town I decided to try it out on my drive way. When she got home she thought I had ordered a load of rock and re-graveled it.
    I was surprised myself at how good it looked as I had never operated one before. They sure make an old drive way look good. Take care bud, you did a good job too. Looks nice.👍👍👍

      Hey good day Dean! LOL. I'll bet she was very impressed at your handy work. Sorry for the delay but I seem to have missed a whole bunch of comments last week. That box blade does work great and save a lot of $$ to have someone else come in to grade it. Thanks for the support as always - have a good weekend!

Hey also, I tried to respond to your last comment you sent over a week ago, but you included a website URL, and the way I set up the channel, it blocks comments with URLs. I found it in the Held file but when I tried to release it, it disappeared. Have a good week and thanks again!

      Yes I'm very excited! I could've picked it up tomorrow but we're still waiting on the 3rd function kit to arrive so I opted not to pick it up until everything was ready. That way I can bring everything home in one trip. My dealer is 90 minutes away and I don't want to make unnecessary trips.

    You are getting good with that tractor! When you are grading with a box scrapper you ideally want to have your scarifiers set below your deepest hole. It will give you a much better job that will last a long time. I know this can be difficult in rocky ground. I live in coastal Maine, I have an intimate knowledge of rocky ground.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 років тому

      Thanks dp! It certainly is- some spots are one rock after another as you know. But that makes sense. I will try doing that the next time. Thanks again! Have a good one.

    Great job G.P. your videos never disappoint my friend and I've realized that I can give a thumbs up before even watching.
    I've never really graded with my boxblade, you make it look easy. I usually loosen up things with it then just use the loader. I found for smoothing and not really pulling much material I leave my bucket level with slight down pressure and adjust as needed. Then at the end of the drag I roll the bucket back slowly and it helps spread it evenly so there's no hump where I stop. Hard to explain with words, and everything finds stuff that works best for them. I look at it this way, it's just basically dirt. You can't hurt it and there are many ways to the same outcome.
    I wasn't saying any negatives, I hope it didn't sound like it. I'm not good with wording. Drives looking great and can't wait for the next video.
    Sorry about writing a book here.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 років тому

      Hey good evening Bill! No, not at all negative - all good. I am glad you explained it. I do similar things now. I started doing the same thing towards the end of the drag with my bucket, I rolled it back slowly because I found out, by accident, that it eliminates the hump I used to get. So now I do it every time. After I use the box blade, I start dragging the bucket in float but sometimes it doesn't level it so I go back and use down pressure just as you are saying. You are right, we all figure out our own way of doing things and we learn a little from each other - all good my friend. I feel more confident now , knowing that you also do those things. Thanks! See you on the next one!!

    Good technique. It looked like you had the box blade tilted forward a bit so that it rested on the front blade when lowered. This allowed you to evenly spread most of the material collected when you pushed it back. I will give that a try next time i work my driveway. Thanks.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 років тому

      Good catch Terry! That's why I always push backwards all the material I pile up at the end of the run. It leaves just a little gap on the rear blade which allows me to return the material evenly back over the area I dug out. Cheers and good luck!

    GP looks like you’re getting the hang of it, but I have one suggestion for 💭 thought 💭if you have the funds you might want to look into getting a hydraulic cylinder for the top link on your three point hitch. It will make life so much better.

    You did a really good job. Is your box blade a five foot wide model? Also, what type of stone are you putting down. Thank you! Cheers!

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 років тому +1

      Good morning Darrell. Thanks! It turned out pretty good I think. I am glad I took the advice to drop the scarifiers down lower as it did work much better having them dig a little deeper into the ground. Yes, it is a 60". The outside width of the B2601 is 49" and I was told it is always good to make sure it is wider than the back tires. I always use crusher run now. We originally dropped B or C gravel way back when but now always put the crusher on it as it hardens up great over time. The last time we dropped crusher on it was 6 years ago. Thanks for watching and for the kind comment. Cheers!

    Great job! You’re getting better every time! Probably doesn’t hurt that you have a small army’s worth of advice coming in, does it? Lol. How many hours are on the tractor now? I think I’m still only at 43.2. Did you see that Paul and Kathy got that B2601 in finally? Gonna have to watch closely, might be a few items worth putting on your Christmas list if ya know what I mean ;) I’m hoping for a bucket level indicator, ditch lights and a step. We’ll see about that, though. You’re doing such a good job you should come down to MN and grade our road for us, lol! The city is doing a pretty awful job right now to be honest. They only grade it when it’s already flat and perfect, but don’t grade it when we have washboarding five inches deep... fishy. Anyways, hope you’re having a good week. Don’t work yourself too hard now, that’s what the tractor is for. Cheers!

      Good morning Adam. Well, it is basically a path cut through the woods decades ago - no base or foundation. Just a bunch of different types of gravel dropped on it here and there as needed over the previous decades. Since I have lived there, I have primarily been dropping crusher run on areas as needed. So it's a big mix of earth, sand, C gravel, A gravel, crusher etc. Hope that helps. Cheers!

    I have to ask, how you put the tractor into float for the bucket?

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 років тому

      Good evening Erick. When you push the joystick forward and then give it a little extra shove, you feel a click ( they call it a 'detent') and that puts it into float. It allows the bucket to follow the ground up and down without any down force or lift force from the hydraulic cylinders - its kind of like the hydraulic cylinders are turned off (just my attempt at describing it). Hope that helps!
