Love that you are down to earth and humble about your abilities. Which makes me wonder why people would give your videos a thumbs down. Keep up the awesome videos. : )
Love Kubota tractors. I've owned several brands of tractors over the years and keep coming back to Kubota. They have the smoothest hydraulics in the business and arguably the most reliable diesel engines. There is a reason that the majority of reefer units on the road use Kubota engines.
GP, From years with a long hilly driveway, using the stump bucket to make low-profile slant ditches at near-90 degree angles to the road to divert run-off down-slope to protect the crown and surface edges... and add some larger egg sized gravel in the ditches if there’s any erosion after... Or use your endless supply of natural rocks (rip-rap sized ones) as serious ditch erosion control. Cheers! ;)
Morning Hugh! Thanks for the great tip. I just took the stump bucket back last week! I wasn't thinking. It would have worked great for this job. Oh well. Thanks - have a good one!
Glad the advice helped. I never use my box blade without my little level and with the magnets it stays easily with the tractor. Worth every few $ bucks it costed. 👍☺
@@GPOutdoors ... Reminder: Just don't forget to level the tractor first by checking to see if parked on level ground (my check spot is my level storage spot right behind the seat on the fender cross support or my front bucket), then level box blade. It works front to back as well as side to side. 👍😉☺
Good Morning GP... Willie here..... LOL I gotta tell ya, the ability to set the blade at a compound angle is awesome. You are finding quickly how beneficial the additional weight of the tractor changes the performance of the accessories. Now if you just had a 4,000 pound roller...... (-:
Morning Willie! LOL! I figure if you start hauling that roller up here today , I should have Thanksgiving Dinner ready for when you finally get here. :))) Cheers T!
@@GPOutdoors Hahahahaha...maybe you guys will let us guys visit Canada by then....LOL. On a serious note, you would really be surprised how much compaction helps hold the road bed in wet weather though.
Good morning Stu!. That's great. If I may offer - there is a UA-cam channel called daveknowshow - if you look back through his videos - he has a few on there created a couple of years ago that shows how to use a box blade - I have watched them a dozen times as I learn ( I'm no expert for sure). Super helpful for us new guys. Good luck and let me know how it turns out!
GP !.....just got back from the cabin this weekend. Catching up on your channel. Funny thing, had my driveway graded...graveled....and crowned last year, ended up this weekend cutting grass on THE WHOLE DRIVEWAY! , due to the limestone the weeds grew there, not in the woods, or anywhere else. Go figure? Coming up on 25K !!!!! Good stuff!
Hey good morning John! Hope you had a great time there - LOL! Yup, they sneak in anywhere they can. Yes, very exciting - just turned 25K this morning! Thanks - have a good one!

Good afternoon GP. You are doing great. Learning as you go. Comments from all that watch are a great help. All it takes is one and your job just got easier. Your thinking why didn't I think of that. I'm glad you are liking the new tractor. The extra weight makes a difference with the implement work. Looks like the tractor had zero issues with pulling the blade or the box blade.
A tip: If you angle the inner ,forward cutting edge to the sky (play with those angles ) using your top link of the 3 point hitch you should be able to herd all your larger rocks in a pile lift up and use rear cutting edge to push them into your desired location. Also if you use that same set up as stated above and air gap the front cutting edge and drive forward with the rear cutting dragging the driveway it will make it a smooth finish. I recommend a hydraulic top link cylinder and tilt cylinder set up. Job well done with the blade and as a whole
This is a wonderful channel.... so kind, peaceful and the opposite of most other videos I seem to watch! lol... A welcome change! Thanks for sharing. I could use you and your tractor for an hour or two on my parking area, it's always a mess.
Gravel & dirt roads need about a 4% crown for adequate drainage to achieve the longest intervals between maintenance. There'd be about three inches difference from the center to the edge of a 12ft wide road & about a five inch difference for a 20ft wide road. With the rolling acton of the rear blade the rocks are more likely to sit on top of the dirt, a simple experiment showing the process is to put rocks in a cup & covering them with sand where when shaken the larger pieces will rise. The box blade finish changed the rear blade's finished product.
Hey Gord, Lovin' the new rig. Can't beat a factory cab with heat/ac. Wish I had one with the temps around here the last week. 105-112 with major humidity due to that monsoon stuff coming up from down south. Had a major lightning outbreak the other day starting around 0300 PDT. Had a strike on a utility pole 4 houses down from me and the detonation was so loud it shook the house. Glad it didn't hit my 80' Amateur Radio tower. Felt like a couple hundred pounds of ANFO detonating. Man that was loud. Then we lost power immediately after. Lucky I have a 10kw diesel genset. PG&E had to replace the transformer. Fires on Mt. Diablo east of me, fires all over Marin/Napa due to lightning. You did a nice job on the driveway. Looks like a crown to me. One of the things I want to do on my L2501 is install a couple rear remotes so I can add top/tilt to my box blade. Not cheap tho.. Looks like you are enjoying the new machine. BTW, you ever let Guy, Bob, or Bill operate it? Just curious. Guess it could be a liability issue. Have a safe week. Cheers.
Good job Gord. If you keep the road crowned like it is those ditches should be adequate. Your take-off ditches should be far enough up from the culvert that sediment can filter out through the forest floor before hitting the stream.
GP, have you ever tried using a landscape rake on your driveway to pull the gravel to the surface and leave the dirt below. I have been doing this for years and it works great once you have the shape you want. I only use the blade or box blade for shaping, much like you did.
You had a gravel road; now you have a dirt/mud road. Slant the blade the other way and grade the DIRT into the forest til you have the ditch line you want. Now, turn the blade the other way and carefully pull the gravel, not the dirt, back onto the road.
Good morning GP. My property is also at the end of a private road, so owners as a group must maintain it. Allowing that Canadian and U.S. zoning and right of way laws might be very different, I do have a couple of observations. So in my county, when a group of landowners file for a private road, a 50 foot wide right of way is mapped through those properties. Parts of our private road look like yours though - maybe 20 feet in spots. Many private homeowner associations will tend to open up just enough of that right of way to get a semi through while their houses or cabins are being built. As the trees on the edges of whatever portion was cleared grow, the roads tend to get narrower over time. Right now, I need to go back and clear more were I to want a large truck through (not to mention a 200 foot wide cul-de-sac at the end for it to turn around). It looks like your association may need to pool resources and clear your right of way to the specified width (which is hopefully more than you are working with there). We need to do that on ours, but when you go looking for money to do this sort of stuff, everybody seems to be broke. Is it wrong to assume you might have utilities buried along the road? They should be below your frost line, bu can still make their way up. I would guess you guys have a "call before you dig" number up there. The other thing I notice is a lack of geotextile fabric under your base rock. It also looks like they layers of your road didn't use multiple grades of rock either. Same thing here with us. We scrape it, box-blade it, and add more stone. Maybe you don't need multiple layers of stone up there on the shield though. It would probably be a $100,000 plus per mile road to get it done professionally, so I guess we both will prefer to get some tractor time!
I think I mentioned this once before , but here’s a reminder , contact your implement supplier and see if they would be willing to trade your back blade for an offset back blade , you may have to kick in a little bit to do this but I think you would greatly benefit from this and find it much more useful for getting to reaching out to the side of the roadway while your tractor stays in the middle of the driveway .. just something to consider , have a good day 👍🏽 ❤️ 👍
I am glad you posted this video. I need to do a similar job on my driveway. Good explanations and feedback on your job. I am looking forward to see your excavation job for the gutter to drain away from the road. Have a nice week!
Thanks Marc! This will be a first for me. So...fingers crossed. LOL. But I have to somehow shave those sides or the water will just flow back into the driveway, I think. Take care and good luck with yours!
Greetings from Wisconsin! Another great video. I just did a mile long job on my buddy's driveway with my L2501. Used both rear blade and box blade. I have my trust torpedo level, and I made a cheat sheet in a mini notebook that I made. Hooked up to my attachments in my level garage, I found level and counted the exposed threads on my top and tilt to the locking nut. Then I had a reference point. Especially on my box blade, because I really need to know what blade is digging, and which is grading. There's a very knowledgeable guy on UA-cam called "daveknowshow" he really has some great pointers on setup and use. I love learning how to be more efficient with my tractor and implements especially with long driveways where it could be a full day's job anyways. Cheers my friend

Yup - I must have watched his box blade and rear blade videos dozens of times trying to learn how to use them over the last couple of years - kind of like a quick refresher before heading out - his videos are super helpful for sure! Good morning Gord, great job with the LX !!👍👍. You’re getting it done quickly. The right away looks good and they always need some TLC and each time just a little different. Sure enjoying your chores around there, always enjoy watching. Thanks for sharing with us.
You did a pretty good job! Much better than I'm doing on mine lol I made a mess and had to bring in about 22 more tons of gravel :-) You sent me a list of videos to watch for newbies and I've watched most of them. They are helpful. Thanks
Hi GP; I just want to say how much I appreciate your videos. In one week we are moving from Niagara area to rural NB near Moncton. 3 acres, half wooded, will require a tractor and your videos have guided me to a B2610 from my original choice of BX2380. Your implement reviews have been invaluable as well. Thanks and keep up the good work. BTW..there's a Kubota dealer 7 minutes from the new property in Salisbury. How handy is that..I'll be visiting him after the 14 day quarantine.
Good day Daryl! Wow - that is an exciting time for you and your family. Beautiful out East, so I am sure you will be happy out there. Good luck with the move and all the best to you and yours! Cheers!
Good video as always, stump bucket and rip-rap what a ditch it makes. Top soil makes a mess I would get rid of that. 2 inch down to dust is the ticket. Cheers and great job
Hi G.P. looks like the LX handles implements very well. That tractor sure looks comfortable. The more I see it the more I like it. My BX handles the box blade I have but it struggles with traction. I have a 48" Land pride. Thanks for sharing have a good week
I have a 100 yard long driveway with a slight hill made with high quality sure pac (crusher run?) I use my rear blade and I can keep it in tip top shape so it doesn't wash out in heavy rains and it is one of the most fun and enjoyable things I do on my tractor.
.....hey G.P. , tell Kubota to make them cab doors quick change ......... ........then you can install some screen doors when the weather is nice.....AND NO BUGs. Perfect ax-ses-ory after a beans and franks supper the night before......... ........... oh , and thats what the backhoe is for......... side ride trench'n........ CHEERS me friend ! Bee Safe & Bee Kind
Great video. Looks like a good crown now. Hopefully the water runs to the side like you want. I think digging a couple trenches to let water evacuate to the woods before getting to the bottom of the hill is a good idea.
I've always done grading like you have but there's been one thing I've been wanting to try is setting the angle outward on setting I don't know if it would even work but it's a thought I would love to try if I ever get the chance. A better way to level your three point hitch is the connecting rods on the lower links. Go to the stationary side measure with a tape then go to the other side measure then adjust. This works weather you are on level ground or not.
Beaut job GP. Your driveway looks better than the council road to my property which was graded last week. For a case of beer they graded my driveway as well, that's a day in my life I got back ha ha.
Keep up the good videos I really like them. Also good camera setup on the blade. Iam glad you got that tractor it's smaller than what I need but I think it would be good for my wife.
I would like to see witch job lasts longer, I feel the box blade is quicker and moves more material but it is also why it dosent last as long disturbing too much material, I feel the land plane takes longer to work but the results will last longer because it only moved the top 2-3 inches of material.
Hi GP, The regraded driveway looks great. As you mentioned likely more gravel will be required. So, how do you like the cab so far? One thing you might have noticed. Having a cab takes a bit getting used to. I'm sure you have noticed that the cab somewhat desensitizes you to what's happening with implements. But, having one for both hot and cold days makes it so much more enjoyable. Take Care, Tom
Good job GP. Nice to watch. I’ve got to do that to my roads in the woods. May not happen until next year though, I’ve got to cut back the over growth of brush and tree limbs on the sides first. That will be a good job for my grapple 😁.
Looks great now. Don't throw the rocks off the road. It took thousands of years for the rocks to find your road. Now it they have to do it all again. Take care.
Awesome video Gord. Your camera angles, and explanations are really helpful (to me) to learn as we get to watch you. Came out great, I love this new LX!!!
From Queensland Australia, I ordered a Land Pride post hole digger for my BX23S and 14months later still waiting for it, I think it's lost at sea, lol.
Nice video. Only thing that would bother me a little is the dirt mixed in with gravel I wonder if a guy could use the bucket get rid of the dirt first and maybe add some gravel if there is a way of grading the ditch without getting the dirt onto the road
Gord, There is a fella on YT named Andrew Camerata. Great channel. He has videos where he is creating drainage ditches on the sides of roads to do just what you talked about. However, he doesn't use a tractor. But with bucket and back blade you might be able to do it. You might have to rent an excavator with a hammer attachment to get through some rock.
Hi Brian. Contractors I believe and the land owner did manual work on it, as I understand. Much easier and cheaper being able to use the tractor now. Take care!
I'll bet you are starting to wish you would have gotten the rear hydraulics for that new tractor. That way you could add the hydraulic angle kit to your blade. Hopping in and out of the cab every time you want to change the blade angle has to be a pain.
Good morning, Gord! You did fine work on the driveway! Seeing you use the rear blade reminds me that a rear blade is on my short list of next attachments. The are really great for driveway maintenance and trail building. Gonna have to get me one! It seems like the HST transmission sounds pretty loud in the cab. Do you find that to be the case? Kubota’s compact tractor HST transmissions are notoriously loud. My L3901 is too, especially at high RPM. I find if I keep below 2,000 RPM it’s not bad. Great video! Cheers!
After a few 🌧 storms? Seems I do remember this strange phenomenon where moisture falls from the sky, but sure is rare these days. Press on, from s. Colorado.
How's she goin'? Great job with the box blade GP!!! During the job it always looks like a disaster, but when you finished up it looked pretty nice!!! I'm glad you mentioned about the different feel with the new tractor. I was going to ask about that!!! Take care!!
I’m a novice, this may be dumb question but why not use box blade to put crown in instead of blade. You can adjust with 3 point hitch too. Lots of dirt on drive now are you bringing in more gravel.
Fairly new subscriber here, soon I hope to be a first time tractor owner. I have about 2 acres of ground and was looking at your videos with the B2601 and now with the LX2610. I went and looked at both models and I believe the B2601 will do pretty much everything I want, but not having any real seat time in a tractor doesnt help me decide. There isnt much difference in price between the two here at my dealership. Would you have went ahead and bought the LX2610 instead of the B2601 if you were to do it again? I could even go with the LX2610SU that doesn't have the Mid PTO but you do loose some features like the tilt steering, arm rests and the mid PTO, but only saves like $800. So I am leaning toward the LX2610 even though it may be a little bigger than I need. Also how do you like the Digital dash screen? I would prefer the Dash on the B2601 myself, but it is what it is. Loving all your videos, keep them coming! Undecided in Indiana! LOL!
Good morning Joseph! That's great - you must be getting excited. First time out I think I did the right thing getting the open station B2601. Cold in the winters of course but so much to learn about operating a tractor - especially when operating it in the forest on uneven and bumpy terrain. I am pretty sure I might have had a few mishaps if I had the cab while learning. LOL. I'm not a fan of digital - I prefer the old instruments but it's not bad at all. Hopefully the cold in the winters won't affect it. Mid-PTO is helpful if you will be running a belly mower or front mount blower among things so something to think about before you make your decision. Arm rests etc are pretty important to me - much more comfortable and able to rest my arm when doing FEL work etc. Good luck with your decision and perhaps let me know how it turns out. Cheers!.

How handy is that..I'll be visiting him after the 14 day quarantine.
Good day Daryl! Wow - that is an exciting time for you and your family. Beautiful out East, so I am sure you will be happy out there. Good luck with the move and all the best to you and yours! Cheers!
It won't be long until we'll be watching you plow the snow where you graded today. You'll be ready!
Nice work GP! I'll have the same work going on once the loggers are done. I always pick up some idea's from your projects to help me in the future.
Good stuff Jeff! And good luck with the roadway!
Driveway looks great, apparently you are an expert at grading! Thank you for all the training & tips...
Can't imagine having all those boulders to deal with a workout in every job
LOL Bubba! Too funny. My wife Carol would agree with you that screen doors would be best...:))) Cheers my friend!
Great work G, P., I learn something every time I watch one of your videos.
Beaut job GP. Your driveway looks better than the council road to my property which was graded last week. For a case of beer they graded my driveway as well, that's a day in my life I got back ha ha.
Looks good GP.
Thanks Bob!
That is one beautiful tractor!
Thanks so much David! Still pinching myself. :))
You could also mount RV levels to the back and side of the box blade to check for level side to side and front to back.
BTW nice job on the driveway.
Another good video! Just took delivery of my LX2610 on Friday so still learning the ropes. Keep up the good work!
Awesome! Congratulations Patrick! Hope you enjoy it. Let me know how it is going from time to time. Cheers!
Morning Barbara. Interesting thoughts -I am not sure to be honest. Thanks - have a great weekend!
Hi GP,
The regraded driveway looks great.
Take Care,
Tom
Good job GP. Nice to watch. I’ve got to do that to my roads in the woods. May not happen until next year though, I’ve got to cut back the over growth of brush and tree limbs on the sides first. That will be a good job for my grapple 😁.
That blade does the trick it seems. Looks like it came out really good!
Thanks very much Doug! I am pretty happy with it. Take good care!
Love the new tractor ; and your channel!
Nice job!
Cheers!
Welcome to the cab life...you'll enjoy this winter!!!
Thanks Mike! I tried the heater last night just to make sure it worked - it got hot quick in there! LOL!
The multi-purpose empty coffee can has a new use. Safety pylon.
LOL! Hey, I enjoyed the coffee but the can keeps on giving! LOL!
Maybe a extra SMV triangle on a stick with”Working” or “Work in “Progress” written on it or around it if nailed on a board?
From Queensland Australia, I ordered a Land Pride post hole digger for my BX23S and 14months later still waiting for it, I think it's lost at sea, lol.
Every human being on this planet has a lot to learn...
Bruce.
Thanks Bruce. So true. Cheers!
Oh by the way awesome new tractor! Makes you look like a pro.
Nice work!
Like you said it seems the this tractor can pull more dirt eith that blade
Your driveway looks great
Have a good week!
Nice job on your driveway, GP! Before you know it you'll be blowing snow surrounded by the nice heat off your tractor! Cheers!
Nice video Gord. I took a drive out to Orangeville today. Had to drop by the TSC in Mono there. Didn’t make it to Farmers, maybe next time.
Morning Sunjay! You should drop by to see them sometime. Cheers!
Looks good from here! :)
Thanks DA!
That’s one bad machine and the driveway turned out great!
nice job on the roadway. the landpride is a nice blade looks like it will hold up very well.
Good day GP😊 Great roads works Sir 😊👍 and you too have a great week and I know that your are a kind man 😊👍 Cheers !!!
I really like that video GP....
I love your new intro - very well done!
Thanks Frank! Cheers!
Hi, Gord great job. Looks good, with a little patience things get done. Cheers.
Looking amazing gord..
Thanks Dennis!
Good morning Gord , I think you actually do a very good job grading the road, who maintained it before you came along.
Hi Brian. Contractors I believe and the land owner did manual work on it, as I understand. Much easier and cheaper being able to use the tractor now. Take care!
Good job
Awesome job GP. I'm old school too, i think you definitely need the crown you were talking about. Turned out great.
Thanks Dean! And great to hear from you. I am pretty happy with it. Now, I need to dig out those sides. This will be a first!
I'll bet you are starting to wish you would have gotten the rear hydraulics for that new tractor. That way you could add the hydraulic angle kit to your blade. Hopping in and out of the cab every time you want to change the blade angle has to be a pain.
G P LX looks great and works good
God Bless
PaK
Good morning, Gord! You did fine work on the driveway! Seeing you use the rear blade reminds me that a rear blade is on my short list of next attachments. The are really great for driveway maintenance and trail building. Gonna have to get me one! It seems like the HST transmission sounds pretty loud in the cab. Do you find that to be the case? Kubota’s compact tractor HST transmissions are notoriously loud. My L3901 is too, especially at high RPM. I find if I keep below 2,000 RPM it’s not bad. Great video! Cheers!
The box blade was slanted but was your tractor also setting on level ground. To use that level you have to check the level of the tractor as well.
Morning Tom! Thanks for the good advice - reasonably flat - that's why I backed up to that area first. Thanks for the good tip though. Take care!
Take care!!
Morning Grampie! It didn't;t look too bad after all. LOL. Always a mystery until the end - like a good movie! Cheers!
Morning Gord I’m going out on a limb here but I’m guessing you like the new tractor? lol Got the driveway looking good. Take care brother
Great content, video, relaxing to watch and listen to. Watched, Liked, Subscribed, Shared, and Commented. Please share more...
Thank you so much. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Looks like you did a pretty good job 👍🏻, looks like you’re enjoying that new cab 🙂
Like the video GP .
Nice job GP.....wasn't sure at first, They may want to hire you for interstate work!! ha ha
LOL Mitch!
I’m a novice, this may be dumb question but why not use box blade to put crown in instead of blade. You can adjust with 3 point hitch too.
Lots of dirt on drive now are you bringing in more gravel.
Hope your enjoying being bug free with heat and ac
I sure am Jace! So nice. Have a good week!
24.9 GP hope you get your big 25,000 viewer soon! Cheers
Cheers!.
@@GPOutdoors Thanks for the tips and yes the cab does look like it would be nice getting out of the weather but much different feel then out in the open. I will keep you posted on what I end up with. Yes excited like a kid in a candy store! :-)
Gord, I think you could just use your rake and Angle all those rocks and stones off to one side
Morning Ken. Thanks - I don't have one but have thought about it now and again. It would have come in handy for sure. Cheers and thanks again!
Nice job GP. you look like you've been doing this for years. Have a great week. Cheers
You are far too kind Roy! But thanks very much. Be well my friend!
GP you should try out a set of our Pto adapter. Nice video.
Good morning PTO! That's an interesting product. Happy to discuss further. You can email me at gordpotter55 at gmail dot com. Thanks for the comment.
My favorite channel. Click on a video, hit like, then watch the video.
Hello Gord. That's a good tip about the level.
You mentioned the right of way. Is your driveway a public road that unmaintained? I remember that you installed a gate at the concession road, is the section you just worked on between the gate and the road?
Have a good week.
Alain
Hi Alain. No, it's a private driveway but is a right of way for a couple of people. This section is between the road and the second gate you saw me build last year. Cheers!
Makes sense now. Thanks for the clarification.
I don’t think you need to be an expert at grading I know I am not you know what you won’t it to look like and if it takes ten extra minutes oook job looks good thanks for sharing
Out of curiosity, why didn't you use the land plane to finish it off.
