FIRST BARBEL of the SEASON..! River Severn Barbel Fishing at Monkmoor in Shrewsbury..

- My first session of the season and great to find a few Barbel bites on a really wet and overcast day using simple feeder fishing tactics which anyone can adopt.
Join me on the Shrewsbury Town Fisheries Monkmoor stretch to see a few Barbel being landed with some back-up Chub - This video isn't he longest as a lot of the clips were ruined by rain on the microphone wrecking the sound quality unfortunately - Not ideal however I'll be back with another video on a different stretch very soon which will be a longer next time.
The equipment & bait I used is as follows -
Rods - Korum 1.75lb TC Barbel Rods
Reels - Shimano ST4000 Baitrunners
Line - ESP Syncro 12lb
Rigs - Running rig with 8lb flouro hooklength
Hook - Size 8 wide gape
Bait - CKO Cocoons from Vortex Baits & Meat
Ground bait - Dynamite Big Fish River Range - Meat Furter flavour
Hopefully you enjoy the content.. Thanks for watching.

Thankyou! Grateful for the support. A few more videos to come over future weeks 🙏👍
As an ex-fisherman - after having all my gear swiped from our shed 15yrs ago - loving your videos and your infectious smile that you have when out on the bank. It's making me want to invest in some new gear and get out there again. Speaking of which...you seem to have all top-notch stuff (inc your cams...excellent footage!) Keep it up, and you'll have me back on the bank...lol! Cheers Rob.
Sorry to hear you lost your equipment. The kit I’m using is all affordable and value end product. Hopefully you pickup some equipment again and get back on the banks soon 🙏👍🎣

Cracking video Rob, what a great start to the season. Is Monkmoor a day ticket stretch? Looking forward to your videos throughout the season.
Thanks Ian.. You can fish Monkmoor on a day ticket via the Shrewsbury Town Fisheries website. You need to buy a day ticket online before wetting a line 👍🎣
@@RobsAnglingCheers Rob.
Great session well done mate, cracking fish. 🎣👍
Thanks very much 🙏👍🎣
Ive just got back from 4 days at Hampton loade I was on freeliners section on the opposite bank to BAA it didn't fish to well that side I only had 2 small barbel the BAA section only fished a little better but its much more accessible on that side I'm going to get BAA ticket I'd love to see more videos from BAA waters Im from Luton so haven't got much knowledge of the waters new subscriber as of today tight lines buddy I'll be binge watching on Sunday 👍
Thanks Kim.. I’ve got a few more BAA stretches that I’ll be covering over the next few weeks. Thanks for the sub and good luck next time you’re out 👍🎣
@@RobsAngling thanks mate I'll be on the river lea next week holds a good stock of barbel and some stunning carp look forward to your next video 👍
@@kimmason8533I fancy a dart at the Lea at some point - I don’t know much about it though. Where roughly is best to head..?
@@RobsAngling goggle stanbrough lakes the river runs through the park and next to the lake go on the lake section follow it up stream past the lake it goes up a few hundred metres to a bridge that's as far as you can fish it produces big chub and I've heard of barbel to 16 pound the whole section produces fish it's day ticket it also hold huge carp to 20bls plus it's such a small river simple ledger rigs work well also you can head upstream to a free section called lemesford mill it's about half mile upstairs 👍
@@kimmason8533Thanks buddy - I’ll try and get down for a look later in the season. 👍
glad to see them coming out now rob was there on the first day it was terrible loads of fish crashing but not feeding definitley worth a look now
Thanks Tony.. Temps are a lot better now.. Could still do with some rain though. Good luck with your own angling 🌧️🎣👍
@@RobsAngling Cheers Rob ive heard there catching at Sydney avenue as well might go on sunday give it a whirl
哥们,牛逼
Good session Rob...do you ever trot a float...those swims look ideal for wading out and running a float through.
Thanks Kev.. I do however filming it when you’re on your own and in the water brings challenges. I’ll look at how others do this and put something together soon 👍
Nice vid what about trying the Severn around Welshpool area I'm sure a lot of people would love to see how you fish that and hopefully catch.
It’s a bit of a trek from where I live however I will get up there to give it a go.. Where do you recommend..? 👍🎣
Hiya mate, great videos btw! Fished the top end of the stretch last week got my first barb of the season. Quick question, what size feeder is that? Looks like a 3oz but couldn't tell.
Thanks Rob.. I’d got 2.5oz and 3oz feeders with me that day. You’d likely get away with a 2oz in the slower moving water on that peg 👍
Going over to knowle sands Tomorrow rob first time fishing it which section would you choose this time of year cheers
Hi mate, there should be Barbel along most of there at this time of year. Watch out towards the end of the stretch though as it gets deep. All of the pegs in the meadow and wood are decent and should do some bites in the right conditions. Good luck 🎣👍
@@RobsAngling thanks. So would you fish section 1 n 2 would you say we’re you have to walk down the steep hill?
Where can u get a license for this stretch ?
Hi, the Shrewsbury Town Fisheries website is what you need 👍
Is it on a day ticket 🎟 or a members only book ?
Hi Kieren, you can buy a day ticket on the Shrewsbury Town Fisheries website. You need to buy it before your session as it will then provide you the gate code to access the stretch. 👍
