We all have that, my favorite was when the one guy I went to school with lost a wheel while turning into sheets one night, he didn't tighten it down lol
Yes sir. Great video.👍 Wow, clearly you have made things a bit more understandable thank you sir. But yes if it's within your budget go for it. If not, don't worry about it just keep saving up the money. I myself did that for 3 years. Several months ago I recently installed a 7 inch BDS coilover suspension kit. The rear shocks as well from BDS. My 2011 Tundra has never felt better on the road and when it comes time to the ranch, hell yeah I'm enjoying it ha!😆. I am very happy with it . 😎👍
Oh ok. Sure. I really don't take pictures of my truck but why not. First chance I get I'll send you all a pic. 😯 But honestly my truck doesn't look as cool as your trucks. But I'll do it. 😎👍
I’m glad I watched this video because I thought about stacking myself after someone did their truck and it looked good but he started having a lot of problems. Once again you just saved me money and time. Thanks guys.
Me and a buddy were just talking about this yesterday! Great video all these I learn alot keep it up! My 2010 chevy 1500 will be up 7.5-10" by the end of the summer.
i just put on rough country 5 inch lift on my 2015 silverado and it kept everything a stock angles, so maybe Rc uped their game ?? And they now offer front struts aswell with the lifts so..
nice, I'm glad I watched this video. I only installed a ready lift on my frontier for now because I didn't know what 6 inch lift brand I wanted to get.
I bought a 2014 f150 2wd Ecoboost. First did the front 2" leveling kit, looked better but those Effie stock 18" wheels and donut tires looked awful. Finally decided on the McGaughys 6.5" lift, 20X12 American Truxx black and polished wheels with a -44 offset (Deep lips) and some 35X12.5X20 tires! The look and ride is AWESOME! I got pics for anyone interested in seeing if their in the same boat! I got a few handfuls of opinions and most every shop I asked said McGaughys over RC any day!
Hey bro! Man it's all about preference. It's your vehicle and if want to lift it lift it. It's no different than seeing a 4x4 lowered. It's all so no different than seeing theses brand new $85,000 4x4 trucks with powder coated lift kits and $5,000 wheels bc we all know they will NEVER leave the pavement! Bro there's NOTHING wrong with those that want that drive 2wd that want a nice stance, some mud tires for the occasional fishing trail drive and park with a tad bit more ground clearance. I had a F350 4x4 Diesel, 4 door, long bed that had a 4" lift and you know what...the 7 years I had it I flipped the 4x4 switch 3x and two of those three I didn't even need it!!!! The other time I flipped it I used it to help a stranger out of a ditch on the side of a road...THATS IT! Bro in the end, it's about mods that an owner likes/wants...I also work in construction, we have NO 4x4 trucks here, I've gotten my chevy 3/4 ton off road so many times it ain't funny, and while I have gotten stuck,a couple times if I would have had MT Tires I would have gotten out with ease!!!! Hate to tell you theses a market for 2wd lifts or the manufactures wouldn't make them! Yes most all of the big namesd lift kit makers has 2wd lift kits.....want to know why...because people want that stance, want that little extra ground clearance, want those tad bigger MT tires for the occasional need...lowered or lifted...in the end it's what WE want...not what anyone thinks or suggests. Until I get hep paying for my truck Payment, vehicle maintenance and repairs....then we will do as we want ;-)
Good shit man,I'm learning a lot from you since I subscribed to your channel a few days ago. Getting ready to buy another truck and lift that shit! I've already bought a set of 8x6.5(Dodge 2500)/ 20x9.5s already to slap on it ahead of it evening bought! And the tires are next! Thanks for the info, keep it coming!
Okay, having a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering and an Engineers Degree, post masters, in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering everything he said about angles is spot on; what I would add is this. IF you are not going more than 4 inches you are probably safe with a more basic lift, more than 4 inches spend the money on the more expensive lift. This is all general and no warranty is expressed or implied. Every vehicle/tire/wheel/kit combo is unique.
It's just like the TerraFlex lift kits for wranglers. A 2.5 inch lift is about $1,300 vs the $300 for a rough country kit. The TerraFlex has special long control arms that have flex joints to reduce stress.
really vital info i've been looking for presented in an accessible format, that i have to strain to pick out from the distracting metal background music.
I’m planning a move to Utah next year from Illinois. Having a house built there. Have my eye on the new F150 XLT. Want to lift it, and keep it a long time. How high of a lift would you recommend? Plan on doing some off-road driving, but most to haul around a new Yamaha YXZ in a trailer. I heard BDS was a good product. I would spend the xtra money for a good quality lift. Thoughts? By the way, first time I saw your video, very cool, new subscriber!
WOW,,, super glad I found you guys on you tube ,,,I can tell ya I'm Probably gonna get a set of wheels and tires from ya. I'm Building my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and would Love to see ya'll venture out towards then too in videos ,,, supper informative ,,,,
Good videos man! Learn alot from you about tires/wheels set and lifts! Just suscribed. Where you guys located at? Soon i'll get diesel 2500hd first diesel truck then do All the cool stuff. Pece😀
Ride Quality is a major difference !!! Spring compression rates along with shocks are specific for each vehicle on the higher end kits !! Major difference in ride quality !
The way I look at it is I'm gonna buy quality when it comes to suspension because that's what my vehicle rides on and hold it together three things I don't go cheap on tires brakes and suspension I also off road quite frequently though
yes I agree but if your ugly going up 4" rough country makes a great lift. I have an 87 ranger and basically RC is the only company that provides a lift. so 4" lift + 3" body lift with shift extension and break line extensions
Steve Kay Shit man 95% of guys out there go for looks ,not functionality.most folks dont go off road. 50000 vehicle, mudding ,dings, rocks, too expensive.
Which ever one fits your build best. Depends what size setup you want to run Dylan. Check our gallery out for ideas and fitment help! customoffsets.com/gallery
Great video bro, thanks for the info. Where does pro comp rate in there? I noticed you didn't cover it. I have the exact f150 (2014 FX4) you showed in this video (only stock), but I literally want it to look just like that one, hood and all. So I'm getting ready to throw some wheels/tires and a lift on it. One of my concerns is if any of these lifts will void the factory warranty. I know that some of the Ford dealerships here in Omaha send trucks out to colorodo to get pro comp lifts installed, which allows them to still sell them as new with factory warranty.
My 6inch kit for my 2016 f250 with fox coilovers were $6600 from BDS. Plus another $1,000 for the traction bar from bds. Then i had crown performance make me longer stainless steel brake lines. Adds up fast! #getmorewad
im glad i saw this before i bought my truck lol. was debating wether to buy one stock and buy the lift separate and install or buy one lifted but tbh i think id rather invest in a lift kit that i choose myself
Can I run a 4" RC lift and 2" RC keys on my 05 Dodge 1500 to lift and level it out and all my angles on the front be ok or will the 4" kit level it out w/o the keys and what's the difference between the 4 and 5" RC bc they're the same price?
I OWN A 97' CHEVY TAHOE(2 DOOR)...I WAS THINKIN' OF INSTALLIN' A LIFT-KIT. I WAS THINKIN' BETWEEN (7 1/2 & 8" INCHES WITH 37" TIRES ON 17" WHEELS. OR SAME HEIGHT, SAME WHEEL SIZE...40" TIRES. WHAT'S YOUR ADVISE OR OPINION,.? THANK YOU.
I have a question , ive got a raptor and have Fox 3.0 coilovers full system front and back , i want to lift the front as they say Its adjustable to 2 inch of lift in front , to squeeze on 37s , but does this Lift within the fox 3.0 coilovers consider a bad idea for the torsen front diff - ball joints - does it damage the suspension even if its just 2 inch of lift on the front of the raptor
I'm going for a bigger a lift kit to fit 37s on my silverado but I want to go away from rough country because that's want i have now and I just wanted to know what you guys think about the 8" superlift lift kit with king shocks front and back. Is it a good lift or for the money I'm spending I could get something better?
I have a 2015 1500 ram 5.7. I just want 2.5 inch to 3 inch lift. Nothing drastic. Any recommendations? Also, will a lift between 2.5 to 3 inches cause any extra wear and tear on other components?
What would be your opinion on a 9.5" lift from FTS full throttle suspension I've seen them ran at sema a lot and I would just like your opinion on them?
Question, whats the biggest suspension lift i can do in a chevy without having to cut anything out or having to drop the differential? And do you recommend combining a suspension and body lift?
There's an old racer saying: "Cheap, lightweight, long lasting. Pick two because you can't have all three." Same philosophy can be applied to lift kits.
Killer video...! The 4wheelsparts in Baton Rouge,La where I plan on getting my 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport lifted 6 inches only do Procomp lift kits are they any good????
+Custom Offsets Thanks man love your vids let me know whenever u in the New Orleans area or down for Mardi Gras love to meet you guys will be doing plenty ordering from you guys. #mykindapeople
Thanks, it is as I figured. I would like to lift 5"-6". I don't wish to buy complete kits because I will not need a rear lift after I install the DOR shackle flip kit. Where is the best place for building my own kit mix and match?
OK so at what point is it OK to use the cheaper kits... if you get a smaller lift should you really buy the highest cost lift or is it safe to use a less expensive kit
All personal preference Steven, comes down to what you can afford, and what specifically you're looking for in ride quality and the truck it's going on
Just curios I have a 3.5 inch Rough Country on my truck i did decide to do that cause of the price but i got the more expensive one that comes with control arms and new ball joints. Now are those just like the stock ones or do they modify them for the 3.5 inch lift or does it just not matter at all with only a 3.5 inch lift?
Now you got me worried about putting the 7.5 rough country lift on my brand new 16' GMC Sierra 1500. I don't wanna have to worry about having my ball joints wearing out within 5k miles. Sad thing is it's on the way to my house. What do I now?
Hey Shawn nice vid bro! Couple of questions! 1. So in respect to the lifts getting out of geometry, are you referencing lifts that do not have drop down brackets? From what I've investigated most crossmembers put the trucks back at factory angles. 2. You stated with the spacers you change geometry, I thought they threw those in if you didn't want to spend the $1800 on fox 2.0 system. 3. Most kits sell the longer cast knuckles, what's the difference from the custom welded knuckle? 4. With a Seaver rear spring set, can you still tow with them? I thought those were only for race setup, ie caged rear ends. Looking to lift my HeavyDuty payload f150, loved the vid and information just wanted some clarification from your vid.
Ro te, noticed he never answered ya question, rough country does put there angles back to factory, he’s just getting paid by the higher end lifts to say that, cause if researched them to, an now days, 5 yrs later with BDS you still have to cut ya truck up to get there 6” lifts on
Thanks for breaking it down, very informative! but if i chose to go with a rcx lift opposed to a cognito lift, does that mean things like ball joints and hubs will wear quicker? Im a cheap guy myself so ofcourse i want to go rough country but im just worried on how that will effect the price of new parts in the long run.
Can you guys make a video for pt.2 ir you lift do you need new CV axles away bars and control arms. Also I want 26x16 do you recommend bds with dual shocks
ok, so I found a 3 inch lift for an old nissan hardbody we have. comes with new HD torsion bars, shackles, ball joints, upper control arms designed to keep the ball joint in the stock position, rear blocks and mounting hardware. is this kit worth the $1000 price tag?
Custom Offsets awesome, but I was wondering if I could get your opinion on the type of lift, because I recently found a 3 inch body lift and gap guards for half the price of the suspension. the truck is gonna be a daily driver and the occasional offroader, so which one would you go with?
I just did the 7.5 rough country lift and having problems with my boot ripping. Was wondering if this is normal? Also if someone could fill me in on what extras I should put on to keep my truck from fxckin up that would be great! I don't go off reading or anything it's all for looks.
James, it depends on budget and which vehicles etc! Shoot our lift kit expert Brad an email and he'll get you setup with what he knows would work swell for ya! info@customoffsets.com
when you said "your shit falling apart on the way to the Walmart truck meet" I literally could not stop laughing😂😂😂
No that shit is everywhere
We all have that, my favorite was when the one guy I went to school with lost a wheel while turning into sheets one night, he didn't tighten it down lol
Kill the music next time. It adds nothing and actually takes away from the great info you are giving.
please dont have the music playing next time
Running down to the WALMART TRUCK MEET! God damn! I laugh every time..
You mean my 6" body lift isn't a top of the line lift kit?
only if you're from the south.
rough country has differential drop brackets to get the cv shafts back to almost stock angles..
Thanks for the video, bro. I just got into lifts with my new truck and this helped me a lot
Great video guys!! Learned a lot. Again.....keep them coming!
Another great video. Thanks for breaking it down. I feel so much better about which kit I want to get now.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Outstanding video, thanks man. Due to my hearing it was a bit hard to hear past the music at some points but really good info.
These videos are terrific. Thanks. I'm learning a ton and looking forward to getting in to my next project.
Can you make a pt2 to this video? For add ons like sway bars. Stabilizers and shocks.
Custom Offsets could I lift the front only and leave the back stock?
John Doe yes with a leveling kit. Its basically the smallest "lift" mod you can do.
killer videos guys!! so informative!!! keep em coming!
i just put on rough country 5 inch lift on my 2015 silverado and it kept everything a stock angles, so maybe Rc uped their game ?? And they now offer front struts aswell with the lifts so..

rough country offers the same thing just costs more than the base option
still less than the terraflex tho
If I bought the rough country's would I still be able to tow trailers and stuff or would my shit be falling apart on my way to a walmart truck meet.
Donald J. Clinton lol yes. Rough country is the most famous lift out there. If you do a rear block lift I suggest "trac bars".
After buying rough country your going to blow your wad on a actual good kit afterwards.
I have a real truck with solid axles.. I just throw cinder blocks between the leaf springs and the frame.
@@haresplitter lmao

new subscriber. great info for a brotha who is just starting out with the riding hi world
Thanks for listen to your supporters!
really vital info i've been looking for presented in an accessible format, that i have to strain to pick out from the distracting metal background music.
Do I need to worry about changing angles of ball joints and tie rods with a 2 inch leveling kit ?

hey Shawn! I was wondering if you could do a "shit i never knew" video on smoke stacks for diesel trucks. like pros and cons. thanks!
Well explained and good to hear that you get what you pay for!
great video guys.. could you guys make a pros and cons of lifting a truck video?
Jose Perez pro. ground clearance. no fat chicks. cons. under ground parking. drive thrus lotta dudes asking bout your truck.
I got rough country because I don't go off-road
not12u ooh
iieLiTe2697 my buddy has a rough country 3 inch lift on his f150, had it for 2 or three years and put in about 3 front ends

thanks for the great tech videos.
very good informative video. anyone who is considering a lift should watch first....
Dolton Bradley i lifted my truck after watching their videos.
GREAT video bro. Thanks
I'm a die hard Prius owner. Idk why I'm here and watched the whole thing
Great video bro, thanks for the info. Where does pro comp rate in there? I noticed you didn't cover it. What's your opinion of Tuff Country lifts? I've been looking at a 4 inch tuff country suspension lift for my 2014 ram 1500 4x4
Great job. Very informative.
Can I run a 4" RC lift and 2" RC keys on my 05 Dodge 1500 to lift and level it out and all my angles on the front be ok or will the 4" kit level it out w/o the keys and what's the difference between the 4 and 5" RC bc they're the same price?

Great info once again. This is shit I truly didn't know.
Can you make a video of what the installation costs are for these kits?
went with zone 4.5 (got 5 inches out of it).
I have a 2015 1500 ram 5.7. I just want 2.5 inch to 3 inch lift. Nothing drastic. Any recommendations? Also, will a lift between 2.5 to 3 inches cause any extra wear and tear on other components?
Typically any lift 3" or more we recommend getting one that includes a differential drop bracket to avoid the bad CV axle angles.
How about a 2.5" level? Does that need any differential drop?
"ahh thanks, for showing me this shit!! geometry bro!!"
So on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being a cheap rough country kit and 10 being an awesome Cognito kit, where does Fabtech fall in at?
All depends on truck, and use/size etc. But middle/higher
What would be your opinion on a 9.5" lift from FTS full throttle suspension I've seen them ran at sema a lot and I would just like your opinion on them?
I live in Indiana.....looking at a 12" Bulletproof lift.....do you guys install those lifts?
Can't get enough of these videos fuckin cool.
Question, whats the biggest suspension lift i can do in a chevy without having to cut anything out or having to drop the differential? And do you recommend combining a suspension and body lift?
Depends on what lifts you go with. Some require it some do not. As for suspension and body lift, tons of guys do it.
There's an old racer saying: "Cheap, lightweight, long lasting. Pick two because you can't have all three." Same philosophy can be applied to lift kits.
Killer video...! The 4wheelsparts in Baton Rouge,La where I plan on getting my 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport lifted 6 inches only do Procomp lift kits are they any good????

informative, but lower the music level, I can barely hear the not so good camera audio.
Thanks for help with a tough decision. What is the effect on a 6" lift with a snow plow? Will I need a new mount?
More then likely going to need drop brackets for it Shultz!
Thanks, it is as I figured.
I would like to lift 5"-6". I don't wish to buy complete kits because I will not need a rear lift after I install the DOR shackle flip kit. Where is the best place for building my own kit mix and match?
does the more expensive lifts make for a better ride and handling or no?
If I buy a zone 6 inch lift for a 2004 2500 4x4 will I have to replace suspension or does it come with what it needs
The lift kit will come with everything you should need to install and go
Awesome video learned alot
i have a 99 chevy Tahoe LT 4x4 ........its at stock height ........all I want is about 2 or 3 inch lift can you help me out?
Also a zone lift is basically the same thing as a bds just without the great warranty bds has
I prefer leveled with -44s and nitto 420s that street look 👌🏼

Ro te, noticed he never answered ya question, rough country does put there angles back to factory, he’s just getting paid by the higher end lifts to say that, cause if researched them to, an now days, 5 yrs later with BDS you still have to cut ya truck up to get there 6” lifts on
6" on yukon mall crawling city slicker truck. bet it has 20" wheels with tiny sidewall
What would you recommend for a 3.5 to 4in lift kit
So the more you spend gives you better ride quality? Not so bouncy?
walmart truck meet lol
I live in chicago, where tf am i supposed to go offroading?Maybe if i lived near the country somewhere i could find a dirt road lol
So if I want to just lift my truck mostly for looks, and occasional off-roading in sand a rough country kit would be good enough?
Thanks for breaking it down, very informative! but if i chose to go with a rcx lift opposed to a cognito lift, does that mean things like ball joints and hubs will wear quicker? Im a cheap guy myself so ofcourse i want to go rough country but im just worried on how that will effect the price of new parts in the long run.
so which would be the better kit?
BDS
Cognito
McGaughpys
Bulletproof
They're all great. Our 2 favorites are BDS/Cognito, we do the most of them
What do you think of the Readylift kits?
Michael Van bulletproof trumps everything
What about CTS?
Can you guys make a video for pt.2 ir you lift do you need new CV axles away bars and control arms. Also I want 26x16 do you recommend bds with dual shocks
No no, and yes. Depending. All lift kits come with everything required to lift he truck!
If I get the 2.5" lift and level kit for my 2012 Silverado, will I risk shit breaking unless I buy other parts?
Awesome, thanks man. Been looking at the 2.5 RC level kit, and 20x10 -25 or -44 and 33's from your store! You guys sell wicked tire/wheel deals
which would you go with: lifted coil springs, or spindles?
Custom Offsets ok let me rephrase, which is less likely to fuck up my shit (going with a 2 inch lift)
ok, so I found a 3 inch lift for an old nissan hardbody we have. comes with new HD torsion bars, shackles, ball joints, upper control arms designed to keep the ball joint in the stock position, rear blocks and mounting hardware. is this kit worth the $1000 price tag?
Custom Offsets awesome, but I was wondering if I could get your opinion on the type of lift, because I recently found a 3 inch body lift and gap guards for half the price of the suspension. the truck is gonna be a daily driver and the occasional offroader, so which one would you go with?
I just did the 7.5 rough country lift and having problems with my boot ripping. Was wondering if this is normal? Also if someone could fill me in on what extras I should put on to keep my truck from fxckin up that would be great! I don't go off reading or anything it's all for looks.
Michael Crowl can i just fill you in?
What would you recommend to get on a 2016 F150 Lariat Fx4?
Ramiro Gonzalez I got a 16 f150 screw with a readylift 7inch on 35s no trimming
BDS w/ fox all the way! Do it once, Never have to do it again.
6"? Jesus christ, I was worrying about geometry issues and CV stress after my 2" suspension lift :D
Which lift gives the smoothest ride?
James, it depends on budget and which vehicles etc! Shoot our lift kit expert Brad an email and he'll get you setup with what he knows would work swell for ya! info@customoffsets.com
with the corrected geometry is the ride better?
