I had her in 7th grade 12 years ago, and I graduated college last year. I've begun a teaching credential program and I'm aspiring to be a teacher. Every single thing President Obama said about her is exactly how I've always felt about her. She has been my main inspiration to not only push myself in school, but to strive to be my best in life. I was finally able to tell her that yesterday because it's been so long since I stepped foot in my middle school, and she is just as gracious and kind as she was 12 years ago. Congrats Ms. Mieliwocki, and thank you for being my biggest inspiration.
shez just amazing human.... not just promoting shows, advertising ppl, celebrity visit at her shows, numerous sponsorship to poor ppl... u r doing great job Ellen !!
This is awesome! America needs more teachers like her! I'm studying to be an English teacher right now too! This teacher inspires me to prepare to be the best that I can possibly be.
This proves that it actually depends on who teaches rather than "passion for the subject". The teacher has to make it fun to learn, boring lessons won't make children learn with pleasure. They'll just feel forced and they will eventually hate it.
It's Great to know there are teachers like her out there, determined to do their job and do it well. I'm in highschool right now and I wish I could say that I have many great teachers, but in all honesty, many just come for their paycheck.
Wow what an amazing achievement. To be recognized for your lifes work in such a fashion must feel great, beyond words... Qudo's to Ellen for showcasing this amazing woman.
Burbank Unified has a lot of great teachers. I went to LBMS for 8th grade and Burbank high 9-12 and those teachers care. They push you to get those A's and to study and understand the material being taught. I'm proud that Ms. M won the award. I personally didn't have her as a teacher but from what classmates have said, she's great! I went to LAUSD and not to put them down but, they never showed the same passion that the BUSD teachers did. Congrats Mrs. Mieliwocki!
I'm striving to be a teacher of this calibre, teaching is such an important profession. I can't wait to be finished my studies and be able to inspire children and give them a love for learning.
This woman is amazing! I want to be a teacher myself (I'm 17). I want to help little kindergartens and grade ones be the best they can be and I want to feed them and provide whatever they need. I also want to be a person to lean on because I struggle so much with bullying and threats and physical harm done by all of my old friends and some family (all males). I am in a low-income area with a single mom and i try to give as much as I can. I am just so scared for university prices (Ontario, Canada is 6 years for a teacher and costs $50000-80000), I just hope I can make a difference to my community because I feel like this is what I was born to do. :)
She is very likable and I congratulate her for her award. Being a teacher is difficult, long hours, small paycheck, lots of obstacles each day. I have the biggest respect for all my teachers because if a teacher is dedicated, it's one of the hardest, most demanding jobs
I wish there was more teachers like that in the world! I alwas say were kids and we like having fun and u have to make learning fun! And a teacher figured out a way to do that! Your only a kid once!
This was nice. I was teacher of the year last year. I love teaching and have been doing it for 6 year, but my district is facing funding deficits next year and my reward is a layoff, SMH. Congrats to this wonderful teacher...
When she taught me I was in the GATE (Gifted And Talented Education) class. she played favorites specifically to a group of four people in the class. that group was doing work above and beyond what was required and she would set their work as the standard of the class which teachers are not supposed to do, they are required to have their own standards. if your work was not up to par she would berate you passively and call your parents needlessly.
well im a french high school teacher in canada and the teens love me cuz im being fun, i listen to them and im not being an ass.. i love those kids they are really intelligent! so u can not generalize on ur experience of high school..
Though I've blogged about them in the past I would once again say thank you to my past teachers: Mr. Shipp, Mrs. Mars, Sgt. Fedd, Coach King, and all the amazing adults who helped shape me into one myself.
it's called "synchronisation"....it's when you are confident in someone when he do a move, you do the same are the contrary (you move and he do the same).....Try with your family this and watch it works ^^"
