Hi, I am currently looking into OTA programs around the country and I see that most of them are technical schools. I feel like that are not that reputable. Does it matter where you graduate or is it all about graduating and passing the boards?
I currently live in Nj, but plan on taking this career path & im also moving to Nevada, so looking at the salary for NV gives me more motivation. Great Video. It's never to late to go back to school. 😀🤙🏼
Thank you for the great information about salaries. It sounds like a very rewarding career , money wise and people wise. I'm looking forward of becoming one!
Thanks for this! Yes, it is true there are quite a number of people who do not know what OTA's or OT's do. It's a great field and I cannot wait to become one.
+Matt That's a great question. Off the top of my head, I don't know why there was such a difference for this state. For an Occupational Therapist, I think it was 107,000 in Nevada, so it was only a few thousand above an assistant. It could be that they allow assistants to have a bigger scope of practice than other states, making it a higher demand. Or maybe there was a shortage for that year. I even double-checked it before I made the video, because I thought I had copied it wrong haha. -Ben

+Brian Bloomfield Hi Brian, Typically OTAs work with patients during a therapy session which can last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on how the patient tolerates the session. Some of these sessions entail working with the patient during basic activities of daily living, and they can help patients learn how to take care of their basic needs. Therefore, there will probably be times when the patient needs assistance going to the bathroom or help showering while you are doing your therapy and you would help, but this is not as frequent as a CNA's work. A CNA will provide routine, around the clock care, and OTAs & CNAs have a different focus and scope of practice. I hope that helps. -Ben

great video . thanks you ....I am going to a private school for ota this year I'm a bit skeptical about the ota field and my school for these reasons : my school is private so I were to advance my career it might be a challenge as far as transferring credits. The Healthcare field is rapidly ever changing from pay to employment opportunities, is this a secure profession? should I consider pta. ..I like ota because I would like to work with children and the mentally ill
+Skyler H. The salary stats are averages for the U.S. only. I'm not sure if the education requirements are the same in Canada, so hopefully someone else can add that info to your comment. Thanks for your question. -Ben

If I receive a bachelors degree and want to go into OTA until I pursue becoming a general OT, how would I be able to do that?
I have the same question too
Dam in Connecticut I know some positions start you off around 40k.....
Which is better ot or nursing.
What is the time schedule for ot do they do night shifts
what is the difference of a PTA and this?

Do OTA's have to do a lot of personal care? Like CNA type work?

It looks like ota pays better and has more growth. I am in the pta program and wondering if i should have done ota... The grass is always greener...
I searched indeed.com for jobs and pta jobs were in abundance. ..very few for ota mostly PRN .... (Florida ) it also depends what state

Is there any exams required for working in dubai ?
Lol 5 years later and the cost of living has increased, average pay is even less, and there are no jobs. 😂
Wow really ? I’m interested in going to school to be an OTA . Are jobs in this field hard to find ?
Im making 17 per hr right now. There are no jobs.
