- The Flower House
Down a long overgrown driveway lies this incredible abandoned farmhouse. Surrounded by farm fields this property has been sitting for at least 20 years untouched and nature truly has taken over. The house and land are full of possessions that the owners Paul and Claire left behind after their deaths.
They were married in 1947 and Paul is of Ukrainian descent.
Paul was a farmer and has spent his retirement years making sculptures as a way to try and stay young by keeping his mind busy. He would scavenge the local dump for things he could use in his pieces as well as repurposing his old farming machinery. The driveway was lined with windmills and steel flower sculptures, which were all products of his creativity. He also liked to make things that moved such as swings made from various found objects.
If you dig deeper into the overgrowth you would see that he was a bit of a hoarder of large items, with cars from as early as the 50s, a hospital gurney and even an old porcelain autopsy table!
But the collections didn't stop in the yard, Claire also enjoyed collecting and one of the rooms in the house was filled with her obsession.
The farm was a popular spot for passersby to stop and take photos, it was a bit of a tourist attraction. But this also brought some unwanted attention to his property, with thieves targeting his farm. He erected a fence and put in a gate and cemented his sculptures into the ground along the fenceline.
Claire passed away in 1999 followed by her husband Paul in 2003. The property has sat abandoned ever since and stands as a memorial to their lives.
I will leave you with a quote from Paul:
"What keeps a mind workin', is what keeps the body goin' eh"

I believe that this is the BEST ABANDED FIND I've ever seen. Simply amazing. Someone could spend a whole week there exploring. There has to be so much hidden that you could never see everything unless you completely search the entire property. Please don't speed through or please go back again. This place is a amazing!
I spend most of a day there and still, I am sure there is more stuff that I missed! Such an eclectic location and glad you enjoyed it! Thank you very much for your comment!!
I love the eccentric elderly, my grandfather could have been besties, they are so much alike. Great video ❤
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for your comment!!
This is a very “busy” find!!! My favorites are always hoarder houses because they are never empty or boring!! Kudos for videoing this gem!!!
Really glad you enjoyed it, hoarder houses are fun. Thank you very much for your comment!!
These explores with eccentric collections are always my favorite! Best finds = air horn and rocket launcher. Thanks for sharing this with us.
The rocket launcher was my most interesting find to date. So cool! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
That is definitely at the top of my list of favourites!! A lot of that stuff seems pretty well organized and sorted to me - I bet there's more to that story than we know. The flower room seemed like a crafting space to me.
I agree, there was definitely an organised aspect to the space and I think you have to be when there is that much stuff involved. Maybe the wife created those arrangements, originally I thought Paul may have given them to her instead of real flowers over the years, but who knows. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for your comment Susan!!
@@StaticSpaces I don't think they were hoarders. People and animals have done most of the damage. Drawers and cabinets do not open themselves. An empty house and the vandals come. It would seem to me that most things were well organized in their own spaces.
I partially agree with you, the house was likely very organised before looters found it, like you said, things have been tossed around. But the one room with all the flowers is hoarding to me, also all those stoves in the barn, the barrels of empty tin cans and all of the other things he collected outside before turning them into art. I think there are varying degrees of hoarding and everyone will have a different opinion on when it is considered hoarding. Thanks very much for your comment!!
What a crazy place! There are no words! You were pretty brave to go into some of those rooms! Thank you and stay safe!
Glad you enjoyed it! I agree with you though, it's such a cool place. Thank you very much for your comment!!
This is by far the most amazing abandoned house out there. It is so cool to see all the stuff left behind. You should go back there and see if there are more things because it looks as if there could be some things hidden. I am a huge fan of your channel. Amazing video and keep the great videos coming.
Really glad you enjoyed it! I know for sure there are some things that I missed but I do think I found the most exciting things. Maybe I will go back one day in the future. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Bingo ,,you got it the biggest boarder place I have ever seen ,,wow so much stuff ,,so sad no one cared to restore the old farm after the owners passed ,,,I just love the big barn like the ones up in Maine ,,,I bet the land is still good soil for farming ,, so much is going to waste ,,you better be careful exploring as you never know what you will find ,,
Yes, the land is still being farmed by another local farmer, it's just the small area with the buildings that is no longer being used. The barn is still in such great shape, would be nice to see it used again. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Would be neat to see when the yard wasn’t over grown! Love his art!
Yes, most definitely, I'm sure it was a magical place to visit back in the day. Thanks very much for your comment!!
Great explore Static 😎❤️
Thank you very much Mick, glad you enjoyed it!!
Thumbs up on the video James 👍❤️😎
Thanks Fawn!!
You are welcome James 😁
That was incredible James!! Great explore! His sculptures were fun and whimsical! Very talented couple! Love the pause-let’s check out,,,,,,,this static space!!! 👍🏼😃
Really glad you enjoyed it Lynda and also glad you enjoy the intro and outros. Thank you very much for your comment!!
WOW. That's the only word that says it accurately. What a terrible shame that the place wasn't left to an organization like Future Farmers, 4H, or an Agricultural College where young folks could carry on the farming tradition, veterinary work, animal husbandry, soil improvement, equipment repair and design, and so much more. My husband was a lifelong farmer, but now has Alzheimers and can't work. When he sees other local farmers out planting and harvesting, he cries because he loved it so much.
The land is still farmed, maybe by the same family or perhaps they lease it. We really don't let farmland go to waste in this country. That really is too bad about your husband, that is such a horrible disease! Thanks very much for your comment!!
@@StaticSpacesWhere is this place? What state? Have you heard what has happened to Idaho potato farmers?
No I haven't, what has happened to the Idaho potato farmers?
@@StaticSpaces Google it.
This was Fantastic Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
What another great location James and yes this is a hoarder house 😮A lot of flowers 💐🌸🌹🌼🌻🌺🪻🌷
So many flowers. I wonder if maybe the husband gave them to his wife instead of real flowers. Thanks a lot for your comment!!
You are welcome James 😁
An amazing place. so much stuff. the one room with all the flower arangments the door looks like a store door maybe this room they sold the flower arrangments out of. imaging what the property looked like when all the grass was cut with all those different sculptures.
I imagine the property was a pretty magical place back then. A lot of people have mentioned that she may have sold those arrangements and it's starting to sound like the best explanation for it! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
That quote is very true
I completely agree!
What a place, great find. Nice work. 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it RP and thanks very much for your comment!!
Wow wow wow I don't know what to say it will be a scrapper metal dream come true..
Well let's hope not!! Thanks very much for your comment!!
Great premier video James and I really enjoyed e😁So much stuff there ❤️I’m rewatching the video now James 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Fawn and thanks a lot for coming out to the premier!!
No problem at all James 😊
It seems the artists future art outlasted his life. So much of it makes me think of hippies of the 1960's and 70's. With all those flower arrangements I wonder if they were made to be sold? The outside of the house was in much worse shape than the living space. I agree some of the flowers do look like roadside memorials. those really are rocket launchers. That goes back to me thinking "hippie" because he may have served in a war then suffered from PTSD that may have caused him to isolate in a place like this. They still sell that Puritan beef stew but I noticed cans from IGA which has been Sobey's for many years. That's an absolutely fantastic find, thanks for filming it.
It's certainly possible that she made those arrangements to sell, I really don't know. He may have served in the military, I'm not sure, didn't find any info on that but he was a farmer for most of his life I think. Either way, those rocket launchers really were a cool find. Glad you enjoyed the tour and thanks very much for your comment!!
Super cool Farm for sure! I have seen a few Hoarded houses before and I have to say this one was pretty organized in comparison. It looks like they enjoyed living there and doing whatever they wanted. There talent was amazing and very "Eclectic" I hope it will stay this way for another 20 years or more! Thanks for taking the time to put this video together for us all to see what real Eclectic looks like.👍
I'm not sure the roof will hold out for another 20 years but maybe! Either way, I hope it sticks around for that long too. Thank you very much for your comment!!
After seeing what was in the chicken coup, i'm left wondering if the freezer contents were actual freezer contents or it was just another storage vessel! 😄 Anyway, thanks so much for sharing this place that was filled with nostalgia (at least for me) and cool artwork! 🙂
I am almost certain that it was just used as a container for other items, he certainly liked to collect things. Glad you enjoyed it Carrie and thanks very much for your comment!!
Wow! The creativity these people had. What a cool find. And the history you add to the explore makes it real-they had lives and a family-they must have been loved very much.
Yes, they definitely had a loving family and it seems as though they had a happy life creating. Thanks very much for your comment!!
It almost looks like maybe she may have made flower arrangements and maybe sold them. Just a thought.
Yes, that's one thing I had never thought of, good theory! I also think it could be her husband gave her fake flowers because they would never die, but we may never know. Thanks a lot for your comment!!
That’s exactly what I was thinking
Oh my gosh Jamie. This has to be the number 1 best ever hoarder property ever. Great job filming all this. I had to stop watching a couple times and come back to absorb everything I was seeing. Definitely incredible. I love the barn. It was in great shape, considering. The property was beautiful also. Stay safe SS
There certainly was a lot to take in at this static space! 😆 I really was surprised at the condition of that barn too, it looked amazing. Thank you very much for your comment!!
This place was truly amazing. I love all the outtakes! Glad ya made it outta there. Woulda been great 2 meet those ppl. Thanx again 4 the vid.
Glad you enjoyed the outtakes and I agree, they were likely very interesting characters. Thanks very much for your comment!!
Meu Deus que coisa linda 💖 é um encanto essa casa começa com muita obra de arte toda florida que é a coisa mais linda já pensou como devia ser um encanto muito linda um lugar maravilhoso
It really was a spectacular place and I am sure the owners and their family enjoyed it very much. Thank you very much for your comment Maria!!
Hi Alot of stuff I think he got things from the dump thanks love Patricia curry Danville VA 😊
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you very much for your comment!!
Did anyone notice that there was a lock on the outside of the door where the cot was 😮 I've never seen such an amazing place in all the abandoned building other videos I've seen. Top for sure 👌
Really glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
Wow and I thought I was a pack rat 😆! Cool find & video bro! ❤️👍🤘
😆 Glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
Good gracious, this look like Bizarro World! Everything about this property is mind boggling. That’s some of the most “unusual” metal sculptures I’ve ever seen. Tons of stuff from floor to ceiling. Considering they were elderly people living in this house makes me wonder, how did they navigate through such a horrendous, cluttered mess. The dolls are sooooo creepy. In the middle of all that clutter there’s a bottle of Spic and Span 😂😂😂. It’s always sad to see photos of little children left to decay. They obviously loved music seeing all the records, stereos, and musical instruments. That entire floor looks really weak. SO MUCH TO SEE, wowser! All those flower arrangements 🤯 It’s kind funeral looking, CREEPY, even a hospital gurney and old porcelain autopsy table 😬This is one of your best videos, very interesting.
Well the house had been ransacked a bit, so I don't think it was quite that messy and unorganized while they were living there. Even the yard and outbuildings were pretty organised which really isn't uncommon in hoarding situations. Glad you enjoyed the tour and thank you very much for your comment!!
Awsome video!!!! I believe there was a lot of crafting going on there!! That barn should be restored!! I would have a very large crafting room in it😂. I absolutely love old barns!!! Great find!! Enjoying your videos in Illinois ❤
That barn wouldn't take much at all to fix up. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
It's amazing how much stuff a person can accumulate! And be so cluttered with all that room no less.
Very interesting explore. I can imagine the couple that lived there were quite the characters! It's sad, but seems fitting that everything has been left as a memorial to their lives.
Yes, certainly was an interesting place to see, not entirely surprising that it ended up this way though. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Only just discovered your channel. Excellent explore . You go at just the right pace for us to keep up.
What a fascinating find. You could spend hours looking at all the contents. Also, you are very respectful not to show its whereabouts. Thank you for taking us with you. You now have a new subscriber.
Take care on your adventures.

Two things - looks like she may have been making flower arrangements to sell. Was this a shop ? Without seeing it's situation hard to judge .And lots of furniture made from horseshoes did you notice ?
Well I am really glad you found my content and I'm happy you like the pacing as well! I don't know what the backstory of the flowers were but some people have speculated that she made them. I did notice all the horseshoes as well, he certainly liked to incorporate them into his work. Thank you very much for your comment and hope to hear from you again in the future!!
Awesome video ❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you very much for your comment!!
You must have said "I've never seen anything like this before " a dozen times throughout the explore. Must have been an amazing experience. We really enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing! 👍
Well, I've never seen anything like this before! 😂 Glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
For how many years of shopping for crafting, keep sakes and these items causes pleasure. Possibly not getting out to outside world. Not throwing anything away!
Maybe, or maybe her husband bought them instead of real flowers because they never die or maybe she made them and that was her hobby, we may never know. Thanks very much for your comment!!
What you can find in some of these places is amazing.😢😮😅😊
It really is but this place is a particularly good location.
You were overwhelmed! I had to pause the video every few seconds just to see what was there!
Ha ya, there certainly was a lot to take in here! Thanks very much for your comment!!
Oh boy oh boy, now this place is one crazy farmhouse, just so much stuff and how about all those hanging fake flowers geez, thanks for this one.
The flowers were such a unique find but really, the whole property was great!. Thank you very much for your comment Polly!!
Very nice explore
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Abandoned and huge hoard together - wow! I love all the sculptures and re-purposed things he made! Inside is a bit much (especially that room with all the artificial flowers)! I prefer the outside of the place............... Great find James, and good job!
Yes the flowers were a bit much. But it was still so cool to see! Thanks a lot for your comment Marilyn!!
What a long strange trip it’s been…
Loved every minute of it! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
The cars are mostly from the 40’s , man there are some cool ones
Ya, I realized my initial thought of them being from the 20s-30s was a bit inaccurate, I think I was too excited to think logically! 😂
14:21 What an amazing find and extremely interesting. Awesome +100% 43:52🐿"Hey.. whos this...? i think he's an explorer i betta hide..for now.."
Hahaha, ya, that squirrel was understandably kiddish. Thanks very much for your comment!!
I'm going to need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday and Sunday to clean this mess up.
😂 Thank you very much for your comment!!
Static Spaces what a amazon explore these people that collected all this stuff some stuff was kind of weird it was very much of a fun explore and thanks for sharing it with me and God Bless.
Certainly were some unusual items left behind. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
Ho very crazy place and nice to see men
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Fun video. Mushrooms for lunch. Doll waving from baby bed. Someone loved fake flowers. Eight track tapes. Really interesting. Good job.
So many cool things to see at this house. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
This was a great explore, thanks for sharing it!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
комната как цветущий, волшебный сад, поделки сделаны с душой и любовью, когда то здесь было очень красиво! играла музыка, люди занимались творчеством и все это ушло в небытие, это очень грустно.
I agree, a lot of creative things were happening on this property. Thank you very much for your comment!!
That was a cool find. I don't know if anyone else posted anything about the cans or not. You can actually recycle the cans for cash. They don't bring in much money, but they are recyclable. The same way that aluminum is recyclable.
That could be the reason for collecting them but some of them were really old too. Makes you wonder. Thank you very much for your comment!!
That place was crazy. They sure liked some fake flowers. There was definitely some money still to be made in some of those things. Thanks for sharing.
Ya, I am curious about the story behind the flowers. Glad you liked it and thanks a bunch for your comment!!
Someone Needs to purchased this property, cleaned it up, taking the salable items and have a Hugh estate sales and donate the funds to a community charity.
Thanks a lot for watching!!
There isn't much there
My dad would have that Chrysler up and driving within a few hours 😂❤what a waste😢. A bit of elbow grease and sweat...this property would be a dream for parents of outdoor kids
Thank you very much for your comment!!
❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Probably used to be a nicely decorated house. But people get old with health problems, and they give up trying to clean or get rid of things. And I've noticed that many people save everything from birth to grave, and they don't get rid of anything throughout their life. You have to keep cleaning and get rid of things (including gifts people have given you), if you want a nice house. It's not that you don't appreciate it; it's just that you can't keep everything because it's more important to have a pretty and clean home.
Something to think about. Thank you very much for your comment!!
How sad that thieves decided that they needed the objects more than leaving them for others to enjoy😢😢😢
Ya, I hate it when it looks as though a grandparents home has been ransacked like this...it's disgusting! Thank you very much for your comment!!
It's a nice look at the past...it's just a shame that it's been forgotten. All the history in there, the antiques. What a waste.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
The barrels with all the cans are for recycles. I think they were recycling their old cans. My thoughts anyway.
That's what I thought at first but there were several barrels full and they were all very old....maybe that's what they were planning on but it never happened. Thank you very much for your comment!!
@50:49
my grandma has a stove just like that one in the middle with another stove on top... and it still works
Oh cool! Thanks very much for your comment!!
They do have some unique stuff that could definitely be refurbished for some good money but the most of the metal just needs to go to the scrap yard which would still bring some pretty good money….
Ya, there was a lot of useless junk amongst the collectors ion. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Thought it was the horrible floors creaking whenever you walked! You need to silence those loud straps on your backpack 😄
Ya, not much I can do about that, other than not wearing the backpack while filming but I do it when I can now
A Memorial maybe
Yup, I think that's exactly the word I was looking for! Thanks very much for your comment!!
Pretty sure I’ve never seen so many 8 track tapes in one place before……✌🏼✌🏼
There really were a lot of them!
Very interesting!! I notices NUMEROUS horseshoes -- all turned with open end up -- but you missed them, it seems. They are a symbol of superstition, for sure. Usually used in the south, the midwest, and southwest. Up over doors, or on the side jams of the doors so you walk either under or between them. Since this has only been abandoned for about 20 years, it is probable that the last occupant of the house lived very much with it in a rundown condition. I liked the photo of their grandson that had been laminated onto a decorative piece of wood, which was popular in the 1970's.
Yes, they definitely knew how to hang their horseshoes! I didn't have a lot of time to focus on the little things, there was just so much to see on this property. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks very much for your comment!!
I just wonder if she didn't have some type of a store or flower type store. Maybe bartering for things ? Just a thought.
Yes, a lot of people have mentioned this and I think it is a real possibility!
New subscriber
Glad you enjoyed the video enough to subscribe! Hope to see you again in the comments!!
I just finished watching this abandoned hoarder house. Well, this video certainly put the heebies into my jeebies. I found it very creepy, especially with the dolls, and the black doll with his eyes scratched out. I would be very interested if the police or volunteers could get a couple of cadaver dogs to search that house, especially in the crawl space and around all the buildings. I don't understand the motives of hoarding, but the couple seemed to be a match made in heaven.
Yes, I do really think that they made a great couple. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
How did you find out there names. Was there info in the house that led you to believe he was from Ukraine. I love sculpture and things people make would love to take pics of these. Can we still see it from the pass by to take pictures
Yes the owners names were left in various places throughout the house. Sometimes when you research them, there is info available, other times not. Glad you enjoyed the tour and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Kind of like a souvenir store the room with all of the nic_nac,s and things she made ,,so many thing,s ,,oh my goodness every where you look ,, the old school bus is from the 1950,s,,I am 70 years old haven't seen one like that in a long time one of the antique cars looks to be an old Packard,,this place is incredible,,and sort of creepy as wel
It does kind of have a thrift store vibe, doesn't it. And that bus really was a cool find. Thank you very much for your comment!!
The barn that had all the time tubs was for me chickens and pigs. The under ground is known as a root cellar. As for the cans you couldn't burn them in with the trash. Had to take to dump or buried them. Where was it located
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
In druk werking goede op namen dank
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks a lot for your comment!!
Maybe she taught school with all the desks snd chairs. Çan foods to feed kids or travelers
Could be. Thank you very much for your comment!!
If I ever found one of these abandoned places, I would find any living ancestors, tell them if it's ok to sell anything from the house, and then become rich (and give them some of the money because I'm not satan)
Thanks very much for your comment!!
I bet she made stuff to sell. Like a craft show
I think you could be right. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Which town this. There a family in caledonia where they have same thing.
Thank you very much for watching!!
In one of the sheds there was store tables and shelves, i just bet they had a store. Sounds like highway maybe people just stop like mom and pop. Get car parts take in cars. I just bet sold stuff
It's a possibility that I never thought of at the time of the explore. She may have sold her arrangements but I don't think he sold his sculptures, as far as I could tell. Thank you very much for your comments!!
A very interesting find. But, just from my experience although the occupants were definitely great creatives, i can also see some form of mental illness going on. I am not saying that disrespectfully, but if you were that overwhelmed in the time you were there, imagine living amongst all of the "stuff" (treasures to them), 24/7. It would of had to messed with their mental health. There is no quiet space anywhere so how could one quiet their mind? Very interesting to say the least. TFS
Yes for sure, hoarding is caused by mental illness and I don't think these people want to live like this. It's very unfortunate. Thank you very much for your comment!!
My grandad wasn't an eccentric, butvhe had a 7bdrm. 2 bath old house he hadcit forvall his children etc. Onltbyjing , none hadly came to visit at once. And upstairs was never completed.😢😮😅😊
The old house is torn now, but not all the memories.😢😮😅😊
Too bad the house is gone now. Thank you very much for your comment!!
Can you say hoarders…..I think you can 🤪🤪🤪
Ya, definitely some hoarding tendencies but I think they enjoyed themselves at least.
I couldnt deal with trash in my yard and house.
The owners likely didn't view it as trash but I do understand your point. Thanks very much for your comment!!
Looks like someone built buildings over a landfill 😢
They certainly did like to collect things. Thanks very much for your comment!!
OK, flowers everywhere, obviously fake (or they'd be dead), they look so nice at first, but are starting to "creep me out"..I do wonder if the wife was making these to sell?....very strange place!!!!
I think it's entirely possible she made the arrangements to sell. Thanks very much for your comment!!
Traducere în limba română ???
Sorry but I don't speak Romanian. Thank you very much for watching!!
To junked up
There certainly were a lot of interesting things left here. Thanks very much for watching!!
Not bad. But my mom's house was worse.
Crazy. Thanks very much for your comment!!
I would love to have you that phone .
Thanks very much for your comment!!
*TURN THE MUSIC DOWN SO WE CAN HEAR WHAT YOU SAID!!!!!*
*IT ALSO GIVES PEOPLE A HEADACHE!!!* 🤬
Hmm, not sure why you are getting so angry. Nobody else has complained about the music being too loud. Which point in particular was a problem for you? So that I can look into it.
Didn't mean to give you a headache.
This guy came from the Soviet Ukraine who hoarded up all this stuff notice he bought only Chrysler's because it had the Russian star on them.
Yes, I believe he was likely born in Ukraine. Thank you very much for your comment!!
