This FItnessFAQs video covers 6 pack abs for calisthenics. To build a bulletproof core functional for the demands of our training, we need to work on ant-extension exercises. The ab-wheel rollout using gymnastic rings and bird dog are two perfect at home exercises. This tutorial explains how to get a strong six pack which can handle calisthenics and build muscle at the same time. These moves can be done using any suspension trainer such as a TRX if desired.

      Hey Daniel,
I have a legitimate question regarding possible abdominal tears from anti-extension or eccentric exercises. About 2-3 weeks ago, I implemented both a bent-knee dragon flag and long-lever plank into my train regime. I kept the dragon flag in the 8-10 rep range, and plank for about 1min 30sec, both for 3-4 sets with 2min rest in between, about 2-3 times per week. I was aware of progressively overloading, and added 1-2 reps and 5-10 seconds onto either exercise. These additions were great in the beginning; I loved the new way of using my bodyweight to challenge different muscle groups but eventually produced some concerning side effects. In short, the upper left region of my rectus abdominis produced an irregular tearing sensation, unlike the usual burning feeling from training. If I were to assume this to be anything, I would call the beginning of a muscle tear. This has not subsided since, and I was wondering if you have had experienced anything similar throughout your years of training. I fully understand that it sounds ridiculous to not see a medical professional for a situation such as this, but given the recent COVID-19 pandemic, I have been hesitant, to say the least. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I wanted to ask you about the best calisthenics workouts for oblique core - right now I'm doing side planks on the rings in an isometric hold, but I was curious if there are any intense dynamic workouts I can do to target the obliques, hopefully on the rings or some form of suspension training. in the roll out exercise, when my arms are extended i should focus on forcing my core to bring my body back right? not my arms.

    • @ddpwe5269

These will train your entire core, with focus on rectus. You will develop all anterior core muscles with any abs exercises(if you are engaging properly of course, vacuuming can help with this). The question then depends if you want to look more balanced or not and add in something for your obliques if you do.

I usually see chalisthenics people recommending wood rings (like the ones in the video) over plastic or any other material, but I've never seen anybody mentioning any specific mark. My rings are by "Odin Fit", and they work just fine (almost 2 years now), but I don't know if it's a worldwide mark (I'm Brazilian). A guy by the name TrainingPal recommends rings with numbered buckles - like this one: images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71urvmEVJfL._AC_SX425_.jpg - so you can see more easily if the rings are on the same height. I can attest to this, since it's kinda annoying to always keep watching that.

Body by Rings customer question: CAN I SKIP DELOAD WEEK? Or just work it like a normal week?
    *EDIT*
Forget I ever asked... I just tried my hardest to do the deload numbers and I barely made it through the last sets.

I don't know why I feel my arms working more than my abs when doing rings roll-outs though. I'll maybe just stick to long-lever plank and one-leg dragon flags.

You can try imagining pulling your legs forward to focus less on the arms/lats
