Excellent naigrish, dance tune, and easy to learn. How authentic and intimate this video is! I will learn this on my own balalaika, and keep her song alive!
You didn't recognize the tune? In the west playing music like this is fairly common, we call it 'bluegrass' in case you are eastern European and not familiar. This video makes me happy. It’s cool just seeing life as it happens!
At that time the Soviet Union was going through a severe economic recession and government reforms which made the whole country to collapse 8 months after this was recorded and this grandma just playing the balalaika with a young lady dancing without caring of what their country is going through makes these two ladies true life enjoyers
fell in love with the dancer

Cool instrument and great playing. It’s interesting that so many cultures have a “mandolin” or “lute” type instrument.
I love the weird, almost electric noises that the Balalaika makes. I've once described it as the sound of little imps laughing in high-pitch.
