Thank you for having Edward Pentin. His observation on Church issues are deeply insightful, accurate and brilliant. I hope you will invite him back.
Thank you for this very helpful discussion. We need to stay faithful to Our Lord and do all we can to hand on the true Catholic teaching to the next generations despite the damage being done by certain Church leaders.

Edward Pentin is a very good listener. Would that we could have more like him.

There’s a book called : The Synodal Process Is A Pandora’s Box : 100 Questions & Answers with a Foreword by Cardinal Burke

Very interesting stuff. As a semi literate Catholic who likes to think of himself as orthodox in view and doctrine, I was struck by pope Francis' reference to "mitigating factors" in considering homosexual acts which are of course unnatural and dangerous to human life as a million AIDS victims from this attests. But from what I have learned, I also find myself agreeing with Francis' understanding of mitigating circumstances in terms of one's personal culpability. If you were raised without a father and sodomized at the age of 11 years old as is common, and are somewhat feminine boy to start with, then that's pretty different from some adult wanting to dabble on a whimsical basis. Francis to me was properly addressing the realities behind behaviors. Great show and thank you.

No need for apologies. I did indeed talk too much in this interview! Thanks for watching. Ed Pentin is great.

Thanks, Larry!! You're so kind! Edward is the go-to Vatican expert, and his quiet yet intellectual vigour is what we need. I will be in Rome next week and will put you in my prayers; again, I apologize for what I said!

@@dr.larrychapp8621 Thank you for saying so! I was trying to think of a polite way to say it. Pentin, it seems to me, is the sort of person who is in touch with so many people about so many things, that the ideal interview would be to get him started talking and then just get out of the way!

Francis is not the Man of Sin (2 Thess 2 as some fear), but he appears hell-bent on removing all the important theological obstacles to his terrible future emergence. Btw, The Church did not "execute people". The State alone had the authority to execute people for crimes and subversions (Rom. 13). The medieval Church could only pass a theological judgment and if the State found this to be intolerably subversive of the Common Good it had the natural law right to pass a final prudential judgement on this, very brutally at times. Nobody wants to see this reemerge, yet the State to this day, however, continues to do the same, without asking for any theological assessment.

I thought not long ago we were agreeing (and celebrating) with David Bentley Hart that Balthasar was probably a "closet Universalist"! Just saying... At any rate, I do think we can walk and chew gum - doing good theology AND adopting good pastoral practices on all these other hot button issues. As for Ideology - 30:58 - Pope Francis has made it quite clear that he is against Gender Ideology. That is far different from welcoming gender non-conforming people in a pastoral way. I know, the "P" word...

Honestly same - Chapp has been in full on boomer con mode the last few episodes. I agree that Pope Francis hasn’t been ideal in every respect but this is just more exhausted parroting of reactionary talking points

@@achieved_utopia Right??? I am such a HUGE fan of Chapp when it comes to his knowledge of Vatican II and Balthasar. But these rants... I'm like, EWTN called, they want their Raymond Arroyo back!

    • @Joeonline26

Welcoming people as "gender non-comforming" already implicitly acknowledges the ideology. Acting in a "pastoral way" would be to acknowledge that someone is struggling with a mental illness and needs help, not that they're "gender non-conforming".

@@achieved_utopia Criticizes Chapp for "parroting of reactionary talking points", whilst simultaneously calling him a "boomer con". 🙃🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Another unfair characterization. These views of Larry you are sharing are very uncharitable. You just essentially said that you're ok with Larry as long as he talks about what YOU want him to talk about, but as soon as he discusses the topic of this confusing and divisive papacy you don't like it. All of a sudden he becomes EWTN's Arroyo...🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

By God's grace, I will always defend the papacy but truth be told I don't believe there's a Catholic alive that can defend some of the things Pope Francis says, and does 💔💔

The job of the pope is to confirm his brothers, his flock in the doctrine of the Faith. When he fails to do that...he is not worthy of his position.

    • @trad-lite
      @trad-lite Рік тому

He may not be "worthy" of the position...but it's still his position, his papacy.
