- Robert P. (Bob) Ufer, U-M's legendary football broadcaster, is paid tribute annually in May at a memorable evening banquet bearing his name. The exciting and enjoyable event is hosted by the Ufer Quarterback Club where Michigan alumni and friends honor Michigan's outstanding athletes and award academic college scholarships in their mentor's name. In 2015, Arthur R. Vuolo, Jr., produced for the banquet this outstanding video tribute to the man from "Meeechigan!", Bob Ufer, an U-M alumnus, former standout athlete, much-loved family man, citizen and the Voice of Michigan Football. Go Blue!
The greatest football program in history!!
Congrats on the National Championship Michigan. A good d line, and run game. Hearing the victors gave me goosebumps watching.
A Michigan football game radio broadcast has never quite been the same God bless him
the best the best love Bob Ufer. I listen to his broadcast on my little transistor radio while watching the great game of Michigan team play football in Michigan's Big House for over 35 years.
That's the truth. I still smile whenever I hear his voice and hear that horn. Good Memories!
We got em Ufer and Schembechler.....11/27/21...42-27.....GO BLUE!
“Ufer is going out of his mind!” Third person never gets old
those were the good ole days...Bob ufer simply the best
The ultimate homer. Herbstreit would be shocked.
I loved when he went on about OSU's stadium: "We are here in the Snakepit in Columbus, Ohio, with Dr. Strangehayes".....So hilarious. God bless Bob - RIP.
Always loved Bob, his passion for Meechigan has always been an inspiration to me and my friends and family. Sadly I am the only one left of me , Bob and Bo. The three of us shared the same birthday April 1st, being left handed, wearing corrective lenses and of course the love of Meechigan! Go Blue!
There will NEVER be another man that could call a game like Bob Ufer in “The Hole that Yost dug” & as the man said “MICHIGAN STADIUM IS FOOTBALL’S VALHALLA!” I WILL FOREVER BE A
PROUD ][V][EEECHIGAN WOLVERINE! GO BLUE!
Listening to him do his thing just brings chills of excitement to my body and joy of the times
I know my dad went to Michigan and it was ufer that made me love big blue and so grateful for a team that always was in contention to winning it all every year to this day we are number one in the country 2024
"And of course, we are impartial, as usual!" What a guy! I know he is still smiling down on U-M.
He sure is smiling today, sing his favorite song loud
He created the mold that goes on and on.
This is classic stuff! Taylor was my 1st fav player
"MEEEEMEEEchigan FOOTBALL "
He was a legend, that's for sure and he bled the Maize and blue... but I'm not sad because we still have a future legend in Jim Brandstatter too...
I was there for that legendary 1979 game against Indiana. That was my first year as a Michigan student and coming from New York, had never heard of Bob Ufer. Timing right? Just in time for Anthony Carter's run and, while I'm generally not into homer announcers, loved Bob Ufer instantly. He was compelling, funny, knew the game, and a passionate fan. Hearing him call a game was a lively and fun experience. So happy he got a bowl win and a great team before he was done. He is still my all-time favorite broadcaster.
I was there too! What a great day! GO BLUE!
We were there sec. 18 row 81 seats 38 and 39. Spent the rest of the night dragging around pieces of the goalposts we tore down.
the best the best love Bob Ufer. I listen to his broadcast on my little transistor radio while watching the great game of Michigan team play football in Michigan's Big House for over 35 years. Oh by the way, my seat was at about a 3rd way up on the 20 yard line and watch Carter do his thing up close and personal...
I sat halfway up on the 50 and I never before or since experienced Michigan stadium come alive like that! I saw AC on campus the next day. What a humble guy!
Just discovered this guy!, Wow. Wow wow...like that day back in 64 when the maize and blue seemed like they were going through the motions, when suddenly.....
Mike Whorf...oh man, such memories
Was lucky enuf to be at the 1971 game. Was too young to understand around the 1969 game.
Go Blue! Love Bob Ufer!
Fabulous videos!!
Me and 2 brothers were throwing a fb around on the field prior to the 1973 spring game also likely attended by Jim & John Harbaugh.
Imagining him call Desmond Howard’s heroics…
Anthony Carter was and still is my hero.
most games were not on tv back then
Bless his cotton-pickin' maize and blue heart. Bob Ufer did such great play-by-play broadcasts. Go Blue!
How about Ufer firing his son who I believe was a spotter, after one game thinking he was a jinx when M lost in his first game. Classic.
GO BLUE!
Nobody better
HAIL! TO THE VICTORS VALIANT
HAIL! TO THE CONQUERING HEROES
HAIL! HAIL! TO ][V][ICHIGAN THE LEADERS AND BEST!
HAIL! TO THE VICTORS VALIANT
HAIL! TO THE CONQUERING HEROES
HAIL! HAIL! TO ][V][ICHIGAN THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WEST!
What I wouldn’t give to be able to go back in time to the ‘69 ][V][ v XhiX & listen live as what in my mind is still the BIGGEST UPSET IN NCAA FB HISTORY! There were so many so called “professional NCAA FB analysts” in the country that said “it’s gonna be a blowout in The Big House folks. This 1 isn’t worth even watching. I don’t believe Michigan is gonna score a single point!” At the time XhiX was on an undefeated roll w/Woody at the helm & looked championship bound. However those analysts forgot 2 very key things. Number 1 is sure XhiX had Woody but we had BO! Number 2 is THE GAME WAS IN A2’ Nobody gave The Maize & Blue a chance of even scoring let alone dominating an undefeated XhiX team. The Big House had to be electric when those seconds ticked down to 0 at the end of the 4th. I’ve been to 18 games at The Big House in total including what I feel are 2 of the most AMAZING games Ive ever seen. The first was at The Big House in 2005 when we played Penn State when Chad Henne hit a now legendary NFL WR but was only a FRESHMAN at the timeWR by the name of Mario Manningham as the clock hit 00:00! The other key game that sticks out is the 2011 shocker when we beat Notre Dame after Denard Robinson hit Roy Roundtree for 22yd TD pass & we went nuts for that as well! If you’re a
][V][ fan you absolutely have to attend a game at The Big House! It doesn’t matter who we play bc come Saturday morning in A2 the city comes rumbling to life with Maize & Blue every where you look. Make sure if it’s a noon kickoff you get to the stadium lot by 9:30-10:00am & hunt down a tailgate party. I’ll never forget in 2005 when I went it was my first Michigan game & we were walking from tailgate to tailgate and I would offer people money for some food but was told repeatedly “your money’s no good here son. Anyone in Maize & Blue is welcome to all the food and drinks they want!” So if you’re a ][V][ fan & bleed Maize & Blue it’s without a shadow of a doubt a trip that needs to be made & it’ll be a memory for the rest of your life. Idk if anyone’s ever been to an NHRA Drag Racing Event where the Top Fuel Dragsters come by at 300mph but when they do your whole chest shakes & that’s the closest thing I compare being in The Big House surrounded by 115,109 DIE HARD ][V][ fans!!!
Aaaand we got Dough Karsh....
11:22 AM Nov. 30, 2019. The final score today will be MICHIGAN 41 ohio 24
Yiiikkkes Buckeyes 56 Meeechigan 27 ---Last win for Ufer being 2012, 8 game win streak....Since 2001 15/17 going to the mighty Buckeyes. Bo is rolling over in his grave..Simply inexcusable
I would watch the game on tv. Turn the sound off on the tv. I would listen to Bob Ufer announce the game on the radio.
@@charliebabbitt3314follow up- Who’s the NCAA Football Champion right now? Go Blue!
Hahahahahaa...Woody Hayes, biggest loser of all time! Super-triggered while losing the Ten Year War. Pissed as hell losing to his superior rival, Bo. Melting like a snowflake while getting lit-up by Clemson. Nothing left for Woody to do but start throwing punches of impotent frustration! Hee hee hee!
