    “Why would I wanna go back to 50Hz?”
    Cries in Power Strike II…

      Same with sonic 2 the pal version has gliches at 60hz as you get further into the game

      I found that there's even a few games that either get really weird or don't work at all at 60 Hz. Seems to be more common with European-developed games which makes sense since they were developed for 50 Hz.

    Another video! Amazing. What a treat.

    On the MS2 you can with a bit of skill use some flush cutters and just cut the leg on the component side, it only loses a small amount but still allows you to lift it away to do the mod.
    Nice simple and straight forward video as always. 👍

    Hello! i have a question, i bougth a master system 1 in sweden and i gave it to my brother as a present and he lives in Guatemala and it didnt work. If i do this modification should it work? or do i need to think about something else?
    thank you for your help

      After a quick search, I think this will fix it.
      Sweden is 50Hz and Guatemala is 60Hz.
      You should also make sure that the right power supply is being used too. If you can find one in his area, that would be good.

    Ive just done this mod and ive noticed that i can still get colour on Composite and RF video and checking the Signals the TV is Registering it still says PAL although The games definitely Run quicker Can anyone explain to me how Im gettint colour on Composite as it should be Impossible. Thanks

      That's interesting. I know that the Mega Drive will display in black and white through composite/RF in 60Hz, so I don't know if it happens with other consoles too.
      The fact your TV says it's PAL though, I don't know why.
      I hope the mod is a success otherwise.

      I think this is just a Pal 60 Mod So this Mod isn't True Scart

    I'd love to know the history as to why we got 50hz!

      Now that's an interesting topic. I could do that in the future.

    so you can just basicly play any pal game with a 60hz mod and have it running full speed without any issues?

    • @JoystickDivision
      @JoystickDivision  2 роки тому

      If only it were that simple...
      For early PAL games, yes, that is the case. But later games will recognise that they're trying to be played in a 60Hz machine and say 'umm, excuse me?' so you have to start the console in 50Hz mode, then when the SEGA logo pops up you can switch it over to 60Hz.
      However, some later PAL games have had their speed adjusted, so you can get full 60Hz speed in 50Hz. Putting the console in 60Hz for these games will have the game running too fast. Makes it kind of fun for games like Mortal Kombat 3 though.
      I hope I explained this well.

      I just realised that we're talking about the Master System and not the Mega Drive...
      I don't know if what I said applies here. I have a feeling that it'll be a lot easier to deal with and more akin to what you suggested.

    Are you running the MS2 on rf after the mod? I ask because I did this mod and running through the rf the image a bit wobbly and the colour is off and sometimes black and white. There are no shorts and the solder joins are good so im confused as to what the problem is. Also the game is deffo running in 60hz but it's not being displayed in full screen.

    • @JoystickDivision
      @JoystickDivision  3 роки тому

      Yes, I am running it in 60Hz. Honestly, I was surprised to see mine in colour after the mod was done. As we know, the Mega Drive will only display in black and white in 60Hz on a PAL TV (unless you do further modification or use an RGB output).
      One thing to note is that my CRT is able to display multiple colour formats.

    • @Jason-fr2cs

      @@JoystickDivision I only have the rf output atm so maybe I'll try an av mod and see if that gives me the correct picture. It is strange though it's almost as though my tv is displaying the video as NTSC not PAL. Maybe some TVs accept 60Hz over rf and some dont.

    • @JoystickDivision
      @JoystickDivision  3 роки тому

      I'm hoping it's just a weak RF signal in your case. Any chance you have other RF cables/modules to test with?

      @@JoystickDivision I have tried another lead and it's the same it worked fine before the mod with the lead I'm currently using. I wonder if running the wire to an alternative ground may be worth a try

    • @JoystickDivision
      @JoystickDivision  3 роки тому

      Let me know how that goes when you've tried it.
      I can't think of a reason why mine would be fine and yours not, apart from the TV itself.

    this mod is also for Master System 2 pal ? and another question do you now how to replace the RF connector to a RGB connector ?

    • @JoystickDivision
      @JoystickDivision  3 роки тому

      Yes, both of these systems were PAL. I was surprised to see it in colour after the mod, because as you probably know, the PAL Mega Drive is black and white in 60Hz through RF and composite.
      I haven't done an RGB mod on a Master System before, but I plan to in the future.

      I use my SMDs and SMSs on a Trinitron with a SCART to component adaptor for that amazing, colourful crispness.
      The Analogue Mega SG is how I play my library in a modern environment. It's fantastic.

    I wonder if you have learnt how to solder correctly yet.

    • @JoystickDivision
      @JoystickDivision  3 роки тому

      I did finally get flux after that video which improved things. Far, far better than when I started though, solder joints just looked like big clouds of dirty metal.
      At least it works and that's what counts for me.
