The Elementary School that the High School in K-ON is modeled after was set to be torn down at some point, but has become such a tourist destination thanks to this anime, that they kept it up and use it for other things now!
K-ON is quite an old show at this point, many consiser it to be the first to really pioneer the "Cute girls doing [insert subject] things" genre- in this case 'Cute Girls doing cute music club things.' The show is a fan favourite for many people. A neat thing I'd like to point out is that all the OP songs are sung by the Character Yui, the girl on guitar. And all the EDs are sung by Mio the girl on bass with the long black hair. Which yes you should definitely react to.

@@GOTGames if you like singing cast of any anime shows. then anime produced by the animation studio kyoani have all their cast sing either the opening or ending. just find a list of anime kyoani produced and put them on queue for your first time reacting.
Back in 2010 when K-ON dropped, it caused a massive boom in Japan with students picking up instruments and learning music to become a band. Really was an incredible series.
Not only did the VAs sing all the songs in the show, including the openings and closing, they did a live concert and learned to play there instruments for it. You should defiantly check in it out.
@@TJ_Kat i know of one instance where they played their own instruments and you could tell. it was a very simple and slow melody. in all other cases they were just pretending with the actual band being in the background. at least they sang live^^

Also, I was looking for it in other comments, but I didn't see the explanation (unless I just didn't go far enough), so.... (MINOR SPOILER ALERT) Azusa Nakano (Azu-nyan) wasn't part of the band initially. The original opening only had four, because there were only the four (Yui Hirasawa, Tsumugi Kotobuki, Mio Akiyama, Ritsu Tainaka). Azusa joined partway through the first season; she's a year behind the others. Once she joined, they edited the opening to include her, and the rest of the openings included her after that. She's also not in the season one ending for the same reason.
This was one of those anime that I could rewatch multiple times without getting bored of it, used to do it every 2 years or so. Happy fun and overall just gud vibes throughout the anime, it's one of those anime you watch while chilling on the couch. Gonna go rewatch it since you triggered my nostalgia
K-On! has probably my favorite collection of Endings in any show i've watched imo. The OPs are not bad, but the EDs are next level. Would really like to see your reaction to them.
Kei-On is definitely part of the slice of life genre. Slice of life is a type of show where we usually follow a cast of characters through their day to day life. Closest in western media would be probably sitcoms, but the vibe is a bit different. Some people hate it, but a lot of people love it. You just have to watch a few to know where you stand. It is hard to put into words what makes Kei-on so good, but it is a classic for a reason. Under the direction of legendary director Naoko Yamada, her speciality is portraying emotion trough animation (especially with her signature leg shots), it can suck you into its world and lighten your mood every time. You should give it a watch, it's possible you won't really care for it, but it can also open up a huge special world you never knew about.
K-On is a 2009 anime by Kyoto Animation (one of the animation studios with the VERY BEST animation out there, even before Ufotable started using the special effects on their animation) Basically, its about 5 teenage highschool girls making a band and joining the light music club (Keion-bu... K-On). Its a very simple story, with a lot of music and not a lot of drama. The music in it takes quite a bit of inspiration on the 2000's English pop scene, and has a lot of references to England and english musicians (even the movie that marks the end of the series takes place in London). I would say that this one is one for you to watch on your own, since the music of this anime is heavely copyrighted. PD: And yes, slice of life refers to just a story where there is not a lot of drama (if nothing at all) and just showcases a bunch of daily life situations.
The openings feature Toyosaki Aki who plays Yui in the show, and you might recognise her voice as Yunyun from Konosuba. The endings are sung by the fantastic Hikasa Yoko, her voice is incredible, not to detract from Toyosaki Aki, her voice is amazing as well. I would also recommend checking out the songs written "in anime" by the light music club members, they are really fun and bouncy as well. And yes, you should watch this show at some point.
Yeah, you probably should react to the endings. They contrast so well with the openings and, honestly, the endings songs are bangers. The bassist girl is the singer for the endings and she nailed it all of them.
K-on is my favourite of all time. The happy vibes and characters teach you how you can enjoy every little things in life. Its a proper Slice of life anime and the endings are great, please do react to them.
Another good one where cast sings openings are ofc monogatari openings. Funfact: It's made by the same studio as Madoka Magica, and monogatari series is an iconic and most popular anime of this studio (which is Shaft btw).
K-On! Is my favorite Anime of all time. It is just a feel good light hearted show. And yes the voice actors also do the singing. They even went so far as to learn how to play and went on tour. The show has no violence or swearing. No action or suspense. Just a group of high school girls and the light music club. And their band After School -Tea Time. Their most popular song is called Fuwa Fuwa Time.
Music anime is a whole genre!! There's a lot out there. Rock, pop, jazz, classical, oriental, I recommend Kids on the Slope. It's a Jazz-inspired show set in 1960s Japan. The movements are so fluid and the instruments are all animated correctly
Yes K-ON! I loved this anime. One of the OG music animes (one of my favourites). Since we're down here already, I recommend the song Tenshi ni Furetayo, an insert song from this anime. Brings me to tears everytime I listen to it especially knowing the lyrics and context.

You should definitely check out the endings. If you thought the openings are bangers, the endings will blow you away!!! BTW many people compared Bocchi the Rock with K-ON when it was released. Well, they are both about high school girls together in a band, but that's it with the similarities. But both shows are amazing on their own!
K-On is like the great great grandmother of Bochi the Rock. It is literally one of the first if not the first slice of life anime featuring high school characters starting a band.
If I remember correctly, Go Go Maniac was the first song in Japan to be the most popular song from a band that wasn't a real band. K-on as a series pioneered Moe genre anime. I'm not sure exactly why it works so well, but I think a big thing is that you get to be part of a girl's friend group without feeling awkward or having your gender or social skills get in the way of the good vibes. These characters are just going through life and generally having a good time. In fact, my dad enjoyed this anime more than a certain Superman Movie that came out around the same time. He didn't understand why Kon (high school girls) could be better than Superman. The school that they go to is based on a real school, and there's even a parody on youtube where people act out the first opening at the school (with bizarre masks on of course). There are the critics of this anime of course. There's no real fanservice, the girls don't really do much that's exciting or interesting, and some people just found this boring; but for me, I just enjoy the girlish energy of goofing off and having fun with one another. It's not something I get to experience in my life as a male, and I really think it's just that simple as to what made this anime such a hit in Japan - you just feel good from the happy and cute energy, and it's a treat that guys don't usually get to feel because just being a guy is an obstacle to being able to experience what these girls experience in real life.
Speaking of cast members singing OP/EDs, one of my favorite VAs is Ríe Takahashi. She appears in many anime, and often sings in some of their ED/OPs. You may know her as Megumin from KonoSuba, where she sings with the other cast members in the EDs for each season, the movie, and the spin-off. She also sings Stay Alive for one of the EDs to Re:Zero’s first season. She sings various songs for each episode of Teasing Master Takagi-san’s three seasons and movie. Each of the girls in One Room sing an ED, and she sings her arc in the second season. She sings the main ED with other cast members for Tomo-chan is a Girl. While she doesn’t sing either OP or ED in Oshi no Ko, she does sing several insert songs in the first episode.
*K-ON was an incredible adaptation!* Kyoto Animation did an unbelievable good job adapting a 4-koma manga into a linear 20-minute episodes anime series (4-koma are comic strips with only 4 boxes. K-ON's manga is literally a collection of comic strips). Two of the endings were part of my first anime song playlist. And that's only because the third one, my favorite of the three, didn't exist yet. They are really good! And, of course, all songs in the anime and openings are sung by the cast. *The endings are sung by the basist.*

1, the first 4 members are on the same year and the last one was their junior, 2, the difference in the opening that they reused was the lead guitar/5th member was added in, visually and sounds too, 3, the story is happy school days, but like all school days, those happy moments will be a challenge to let go in the end, it will hit hard, 4, they did live concert, 5, their personality lind of like Band maid, 6, you should watch their movie where they went to London,
K-ON! Is arguably the first CGDCT anime. Cute Girls Doing Cute Things. Its literally a slice of life anime about a group of girls in their school's K-ON (light, or popular music club) and the band they form. Although they probably spend more time eating snacks and playing around than playing in a band. You're correct in the Voice Actresses having sung the songs! They even all learned their characters instruments (very, very basically. They still had a backing band doing the majority of the work) , and toured in Japan! The Endings are all more sung by Mio, the bassist, and have a different vibe than anything sung by Yui, who is singing these openings. K-ON is a fantastic pallette cleanser after watching a more intense anime. It's Light and Fluffy, and goes well with a side of Rice.
I'd argue the first was Azumanga Diaoh, since that's the series that propagated all of the 4-koma comics with no particular plot where a bunch of cute girls just do mundane things. Lucky Star, Ichigo Marshmallow, K-on, every Kirara comic (Bocchi the Rock), ect all spawned directly from Azumanga. K-on mainly started the era where the girls were in some kind of random club/group.
K-On!! is my go-to Feel-Good-Anime. It's about music, but at the same time not thaaat much xD The voice actresses even had a biiiig concert with a Babymetal sized Crowd. Most songs they just pretended to play the instruments, but they learned 2-3 songs on their Anime-Instruments where they really play. Japanese VA's are on a different level.
K-On is one of those shows that are just “cute girls doing cute things” and I LOVE it. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve watched it all the way through (including the movie) 4 separate times.
The ed to this show are even better, they are made more like music videos. There is actually 4 of them if you include the movie but the movies opening is more fun than anything else. This show is one where you can watch over and over and not get tired of it and actually they have so many songs that are good besides the op and Ed's. Most these productions actually require voice actors to know singing and learning of the instruments to form groups for live shows forming htt on this show. So they are actually singing and playing these songs besides voicing the characters. This show was a such a hit it gave rise to the genre. You definately should watch Ed's but the show, it's very enjoyable and refreshing.
Yeah lazy great. I actually got the history box set, has over 12 CDs in it. Even though 3 cds are over sounds effects for the show, I realized the amount of sound and music they put into this show.
Another god tier music anime is Sound! Euphonium, also by Kyoto Animation, and it's about ensemble band. K-On! was actually the director's (Naoko Yamada) first work at 24 years old, and she's the series director on Euphonium (and directed the spinoff movie after Season 2 called Liz and the Blue Bird)

K-ON is the legendary anime, love the opening and the ending. I recommend you check out The World God Only Knows All 3 Opening. The music for The World God Only Knows is like made in heaven. The ending is also good, it's really good anime and there is nothing like it in this past years.

everytime i listening the last K-on opening i remembered when the audience sing along "daisuki~ daisuki~ daisuki wo arigatou" in their live concert and Mio's VA (Yoko Hisaka) teared up, it makes me feels emotional whenever the song hit that part :')

I recommend catching up because I feel Luke that you will think the same once you check them out. Fun fact: the voice actors quite literally learned how to play their respective instruments and sing specifically for this anime. Not only is the singing done by the VA's, the music is quite literally played by them too. And there are tons of songs not shown in the anime that they created under the same name as the band in the anime. You should really check out their music, there's a lot and it's amazing
This could be considered one of the ultimate palate cleansers in anime. There's a itty-bitty bit of conflict because even the brightest life can't escape it. But this show is pure happy slice of life. Just some friends in a music, tea, and cake club in school and their everyday antics.
Bocchi the Rock was basically "What if we did K-On again, but this time gave one of the character's crippling social anxiety? The 2nd opening sees the introduction of a new guitarist (the girl with pigtails) as the original cast enter their 2nd year of high school and a new 1st year girl joins the club. Many of the "outdoor" scenes still only show the original 4 because they couldn't find good ways to force Azusa in, but she was added in for all the instrumental parts. The 2nd version of the song also has her electric guitar added to the mix.
ah yes k-on, my middleschool hyperfixation hahah. i swear i watched the anime like 3 times and read the manga over and over, i still have it up on my shelf 12 years later!
The music for the series wasn't created by the VA's. However, they did do a concert in which they learned to play the instruments and learned a small selection of the songs the band played so they could play them for real. This included Mio's VA learning to play the Bass left-handed despite herself being right-handed (because Mio is left-handed).
K-On is one of the OGs in music genre, i think maybe the first of its kind... I remember downloading the full anime tracklist to my phone back then and just jamming all day long, I still have some of those right now hahaha
I love how Yui's songs are fast, poppy, and frantic (matching her character perfectly) while Mio's have a completely different rock mixed slight punk vibes (which is so different than her character).
The voice for the lead character Yui (the one singing all the OP songs) actually joined 3 other VAs and created a musical group called 'Sphere' after K-On was so successful. Their music was also used for some anime! I look forward to seeing you react to the ED's the story of the group is loosely told by the OP/ED. In the OP they are up-and-coming fun-loving after school girls. The ED is more like finished-product rock stars. I love the contrast!
I am so glad K-On was requested and reacted to. The ending should DEFINITELY be next. You definitely need to make this one of your nwxt long anime series and movies to watch. You will not be disappointed, and will not stop smiling for a month. As well as several of the in anime series songs. Starting woth Happy!Sorry, Tsubasa wo Kudasai (love me tender), Maddy Candy, Hikari, Curry Nochi rice, Unmei wa Endless, and Temshi ni Fureta yo! However... the songs that are a must losten and are non-negotiable are Fuwa Fuwa Time, My Love is a stapler, Fude pen Boru pen, Rice is a side dish, and lastly U&I. (Lastly, wanted to reccomend an Idol anime called Love Live. The music in that goes banger hard and will have you dancing nonstop)
I love k-on so much. It reminds me how much fun it was to be part of a band every time. Definitely slice of life, just cute girls doing cute things. Does get mildly dramatic in the second season but never really loses the wackiness.

You got it right, this is a wholesome and happy anime, it's all a positive ride. Each episode won't fail to put a smile on your face. Also no, Slice of life is not no-drama anime, its tells you that the anime will take you through different stages of the life of main characters, for example some cases are from 1st high school year until graduation, others even go beyond that going from middle school up to kids and post university/parent life.
Man, after 10+ years of watching anime, K-On! is still my favorite of all time. KyoAni did such a good job adapting the manga. I read the manga afterwards but it doesn’t compare.
This totally opens the door to the entire genre of Cast Singing OPs. Love Live obviously. Assassination Classroom too. Also K-On was literally on their music charts at the time
YES! K-on! Love your reactions as always! K-on is a great, heart-warming, funny anime about 5 schoolgirls starting a music club together (essentially a band). I would highly recommend checking out the endings to this anime, cuz while the ops are amazing and catchy, the endings will give you a look at their more "serious" music.
Man, this hit me right in the nostalgia, this anime is one of my favorites, Totally recommended, it's a wonderful story of a girl group that creates a band at school, zero drama, zero fights, just sit back and enjoy chapters that fill your heart with joy. And yeah, yoou really should react to the endings, they are fire!!!

It was such a big deal in Japan that Fender Japan had a 800% sales increase in left handed sunburst Jazz bass guitars despite it being in the middle of the Great Recession as many people wanted to give music a try and play the same instrument Mio plays. The Season 1 OP and ED were the #1 and #2 songs on Japan's version of the billboard charts when it was airing. K-On is a majorly influential anime you should seriously consider watching. It's not solely cute girls doing cute things, it's more about coming of age. It is considered a slice of life music comedy.
I haven’t watched an all girls anime in ages, or a school anime in almost as long, but I might watch K-ON again some day. It’s just so nice and fun and the music is so free and fun.

The day is here...finally, the K-on! reactions!!!! ❤ I remember recommending it in one of the first comments i have ever left on your videos. Before i go on my fanboy rant, i really, really hope that you will check out the endings as soon as you can (there's 4 as well, 3 from the anime and 1 from the movie) too because they are even better than the openings (especially the first one Don't say 'lazy' and third one No, thank You) and the way they are created as MV just makes the whole HTT (the abbreviation of the name of their band) seem like an actual legit band Absolutely amazing songs This anime is in my top 3 favourites of all time, everything about this anime is just masterful, the characters are all amazing, the main cast is one of the best in the CGDCT (cute girls doing cute things) genre, the supporting ones are interesting and have a bigger role than how it usually is, this is one of those anime where there is no best girl....every girl is the best girl, even tho i really like Mio's personality...the journey we got on with them during those 3 years the anime takes place, the emotions it honestly brings that genuinely made me cry cus i didn't want it to end, the beatiful visuals from the Kyoto Animation studio and ofc, the music...all the songs (op, ed and the songs in the anime itself) are happy, upbeat and just sounds really damn good AND, which is a thing i love when the anime does....they are all sung by the voice actresses of the characters, all the songs are by HTT themselves This anime is one of the greatest comedy, music, slice of life, CGDCT anime ever made, i absolutely love it, it means a lot to me (hell, i own all the figures of the girls in costumes from the first ending among a lot of other ones and ofc, all the manga too) It always puts a smile on my face whenever someone new discovers it in any way, shape or form, even if it is just through its music. Now i know this genre is not for everyone, it wasn't for me at first but anime like K-On!, Non Non Biyori and Yuru Camp opened this can of worms for me and now CGDCT along with Iyashikei (pretty much healing/feel good anime) are my absolute favourite anime genres. I will need to rewatch the whole anime including the movie now, that's a rule

Back in 2010 when K-ON dropped, it caused a massive boom in Japan with students picking up instruments and learning music to become a band. Really was an incredible series.

Not only did the VAs sing all the songs in the show, including the openings and closing, they did a live concert and learned to play there instruments for it. You should defiantly check in it out.
They are most definitely NOT playing the instruments during the live concerts.
@@TJ_Kat i know of one instance where they played their own instruments and you could tell. it was a very simple and slow melody. in all other cases they were just pretending with the actual band being in the background. at least they sang live^^

Azusa Nakano (Azu-nyan) wasn't part of the band initially. The original opening only had four, because there were only the four (Yui Hirasawa, Tsumugi Kotobuki, Mio Akiyama, Ritsu Tainaka). Azusa joined partway through the first season; she's a year behind the others. Once she joined, they edited the opening to include her, and the rest of the openings included her after that. She's also not in the season one ending for the same reason.
This was one of those anime that I could rewatch multiple times without getting bored of it, used to do it every 2 years or so. Happy fun and overall just gud vibes throughout the anime, it's one of those anime you watch while chilling on the couch. Gonna go rewatch it since you triggered my nostalgia

Kei-On is definitely part of the slice of life genre. Slice of life is a type of show where we usually follow a cast of characters through their day to day life. Closest in western media would be probably sitcoms, but the vibe is a bit different. Some people hate it, but a lot of people love it. You just have to watch a few to know where you stand.
It is hard to put into words what makes Kei-on so good, but it is a classic for a reason. Under the direction of legendary director Naoko Yamada, her speciality is portraying emotion trough animation (especially with her signature leg shots), it can suck you into its world and lighten your mood every time. You should give it a watch, it's possible you won't really care for it, but it can also open up a huge special world you never knew about.
K-On is a 2009 anime by Kyoto Animation (one of the animation studios with the VERY BEST animation out there, even before Ufotable started using the special effects on their animation)
Basically, its about 5 teenage highschool girls making a band and joining the light music club (Keion-bu... K-On). Its a very simple story, with a lot of music and not a lot of drama. The music in it takes quite a bit of inspiration on the 2000's English pop scene, and has a lot of references to England and english musicians (even the movie that marks the end of the series takes place in London).
I would say that this one is one for you to watch on your own, since the music of this anime is heavely copyrighted.
PD: And yes, slice of life refers to just a story where there is not a lot of drama (if nothing at all) and just showcases a bunch of daily life situations.

The openings feature Toyosaki Aki who plays Yui in the show, and you might recognise her voice as Yunyun from Konosuba.
The endings are sung by the fantastic Hikasa Yoko, her voice is incredible, not to detract from Toyosaki Aki, her voice is amazing as well.
I would also recommend checking out the songs written "in anime" by the light music club members, they are really fun and bouncy as well.
And yes, you should watch this show at some point.
Yeah, you probably should react to the endings. They contrast so well with the openings and, honestly, the endings songs are bangers. The bassist girl is the singer for the endings and she nailed it all of them.

Another good one where cast sings openings are ofc monogatari openings. Funfact: It's made by the same studio as Madoka Magica, and monogatari series is an iconic and most popular anime of this studio (which is Shaft btw).

K-On! Is my favorite Anime of all time. It is just a feel good light hearted show. And yes the voice actors also do the singing. They even went so far as to learn how to play and went on tour. The show has no violence or swearing. No action or suspense. Just a group of high school girls and the light music club. And their band After School -Tea Time. Their most popular song is called Fuwa Fuwa Time.
Music anime is a whole genre!! There's a lot out there. Rock, pop, jazz, classical, oriental, I recommend Kids on the Slope. It's a Jazz-inspired show set in 1960s Japan. The movements are so fluid and the instruments are all animated correctly
Yes K-ON! I loved this anime. One of the OG music animes (one of my favourites). Since we're down here already, I recommend the song Tenshi ni Furetayo, an insert song from this anime. Brings me to tears everytime I listen to it especially knowing the lyrics and context.
It's better to listen that one while watching the anime then it hits because of the context

BTW many people compared Bocchi the Rock with K-ON when it was released. Well, they are both about high school girls together in a band, but that's it with the similarities. But both shows are amazing on their own!

K-On is like the great great grandmother of Bochi the Rock. It is literally one of the first if not the first slice of life anime featuring high school characters starting a band.
If I remember correctly, Go Go Maniac was the first song in Japan to be the most popular song from a band that wasn't a real band. K-on as a series pioneered Moe genre anime. I'm not sure exactly why it works so well, but I think a big thing is that you get to be part of a girl's friend group without feeling awkward or having your gender or social skills get in the way of the good vibes. These characters are just going through life and generally having a good time. In fact, my dad enjoyed this anime more than a certain Superman Movie that came out around the same time. He didn't understand why Kon (high school girls) could be better than Superman. The school that they go to is based on a real school, and there's even a parody on youtube where people act out the first opening at the school (with bizarre masks on of course). There are the critics of this anime of course. There's no real fanservice, the girls don't really do much that's exciting or interesting, and some people just found this boring; but for me, I just enjoy the girlish energy of goofing off and having fun with one another. It's not something I get to experience in my life as a male, and I really think it's just that simple as to what made this anime such a hit in Japan - you just feel good from the happy and cute energy, and it's a treat that guys don't usually get to feel because just being a guy is an obstacle to being able to experience what these girls experience in real life.
Speaking of cast members singing OP/EDs, one of my favorite VAs is Ríe Takahashi. She appears in many anime, and often sings in some of their ED/OPs.
You may know her as Megumin from KonoSuba, where she sings with the other cast members in the EDs for each season, the movie, and the spin-off.
She also sings Stay Alive for one of the EDs to Re:Zero’s first season.
She sings various songs for each episode of Teasing Master Takagi-san’s three seasons and movie.
Each of the girls in One Room sing an ED, and she sings her arc in the second season.
She sings the main ED with other cast members for Tomo-chan is a Girl.
While she doesn’t sing either OP or ED in Oshi no Ko, she does sing several insert songs in the first episode.
The 2nd version added 1 more character, Azusa into the video after she joined their club in the anime
*K-ON was an incredible adaptation!* Kyoto Animation did an unbelievable good job adapting a 4-koma manga into a linear 20-minute episodes anime series (4-koma are comic strips with only 4 boxes. K-ON's manga is literally a collection of comic strips).
Two of the endings were part of my first anime song playlist. And that's only because the third one, my favorite of the three, didn't exist yet. They are really good! And, of course, all songs in the anime and openings are sung by the cast. *The endings are sung by the basist.*

K-ON! Is arguably the first CGDCT anime. Cute Girls Doing Cute Things.
Its literally a slice of life anime about a group of girls in their school's K-ON (light, or popular music club) and the band they form. Although they probably spend more time eating snacks and playing around than playing in a band.
You're correct in the Voice Actresses having sung the songs! They even all learned their characters instruments (very, very basically. They still had a backing band doing the majority of the work) , and toured in Japan!
The Endings are all more sung by Mio, the bassist, and have a different vibe than anything sung by Yui, who is singing these openings.
K-ON is a fantastic pallette cleanser after watching a more intense anime. It's Light and Fluffy, and goes well with a side of Rice.
I'd argue the first was Azumanga Diaoh, since that's the series that propagated all of the 4-koma comics with no particular plot where a bunch of cute girls just do mundane things. Lucky Star, Ichigo Marshmallow, K-on, every Kirara comic (Bocchi the Rock), ect all spawned directly from Azumanga. K-on mainly started the era where the girls were in some kind of random club/group.

K-On!! is my go-to Feel-Good-Anime. It's about music, but at the same time not thaaat much xD
The voice actresses even had a biiiig concert with a Babymetal sized Crowd. Most songs they just pretended to play the instruments, but they learned 2-3 songs on their Anime-Instruments where they really play. Japanese VA's are on a different level.
K-On is one of those shows that are just “cute girls doing cute things” and I LOVE it. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve watched it all the way through (including the movie) 4 separate times.
The ed to this show are even better, they are made more like music videos. There is actually 4 of them if you include the movie but the movies opening is more fun than anything else. This show is one where you can watch over and over and not get tired of it and actually they have so many songs that are good besides the op and Ed's. Most these productions actually require voice actors to know singing and learning of the instruments to form groups for live shows forming htt on this show. So they are actually singing and playing these songs besides voicing the characters. This show was a such a hit it gave rise to the genre. You definately should watch Ed's but the show, it's very enjoyable and refreshing.

Yeah lazy great. I actually got the history box set, has over 12 CDs in it. Even though 3 cds are over sounds effects for the show, I realized the amount of sound and music they put into this show.
Another god tier music anime is Sound! Euphonium, also by Kyoto Animation, and it's about ensemble band. K-On! was actually the director's (Naoko Yamada) first work at 24 years old, and she's the series director on Euphonium (and directed the spinoff movie after Season 2 called Liz and the Blue Bird)

I recommend you check out The World God Only Knows All 3 Opening. The music for The World God Only Knows is like made in heaven. The ending is also good, it's really good anime and there is nothing like it in this past years.

everytime i listening the last K-on opening i remembered when the audience sing along "daisuki~ daisuki~ daisuki wo arigatou" in their live concert and Mio's VA (Yoko Hisaka) teared up, it makes me feels emotional whenever the song hit that part :')

For me in this anime the endings are much better than the openings, especially the first ending Don't say 'lazy' and the third ending NO,Thank You! I recommend catching up because I feel Luke that you will think the same once you check them out. This could be considered one of the ultimate palate cleansers in anime. There's a itty-bitty bit of conflict because even the brightest life can't escape it. But this show is pure happy slice of life. Just some friends in a music, tea, and cake club in school and their everyday antics.
Bocchi the Rock was basically "What if we did K-On again, but this time gave one of the character's crippling social anxiety?
The 2nd opening sees the introduction of a new guitarist (the girl with pigtails) as the original cast enter their 2nd year of high school and a new 1st year girl joins the club. Many of the "outdoor" scenes still only show the original 4 because they couldn't find good ways to force Azusa in, but she was added in for all the instrumental parts. The 2nd version of the song also has her electric guitar added to the mix.
Wow watching this bring back so many memories.

The music for the series wasn't created by the VA's. However, they did do a concert in which they learned to play the instruments and learned a small selection of the songs the band played so they could play them for real. This included Mio's VA learning to play the Bass left-handed despite herself being right-handed (because Mio is left-handed).
K-On is one of the OGs in music genre, i think maybe the first of its kind...
I remember downloading the full anime tracklist to my phone back then and just jamming all day long, I still have some of those right now hahaha

I love how Yui's songs are fast, poppy, and frantic (matching her character perfectly) while Mio's have a completely different rock mixed slight punk vibes (which is so different than her character).
Both Openings and Endings are just GOD-tier, K-On is just a wholesome relax story and my fav of all time!

The voice for the lead character Yui (the one singing all the OP songs) actually joined 3 other VAs and created a musical group called 'Sphere' after K-On was so successful. Their music was also used for some anime!

I love k-on so much. It reminds me how much fun it was to be part of a band every time. Definitely slice of life, just cute girls doing cute things. Does get mildly dramatic in the second season but never really loses the wackiness.

You got it right, this is a wholesome and happy anime, it's all a positive ride. Each episode won't fail to put a smile on your face. Also no, Slice of life is not no-drama anime, its tells you that the anime will take you through different stages of the life of main characters, for example some cases are from 1st high school year until graduation, others even go beyond that going from middle school up to kids and post university/parent life.

Let's gooooo, this is what I've been waiting and you should definitely listen to the endings, they're even better, oh and actually there's one more opening that is from the movie. Also K-On is basically a pioneer of the moe genre and when it first aired broke a lot of records.

It was such a big deal in Japan that Fender Japan had a 800% sales increase in left handed sunburst Jazz bass guitars despite it being in the middle of the Great Recession as many people wanted to give music a try and play the same instrument Mio plays. The Season 1 OP and ED were the #1 and #2 songs on Japan's version of the billboard charts when it was airing. K-On is a majorly influential anime you should seriously consider watching. It's not solely cute girls doing cute things, it's more about coming of age. It is considered a slice of life music comedy.

Before i go on my fanboy rant, i really, really hope that you will check out the endings as soon as you can (there's 4 as well, 3 from the anime and 1 from the movie) too because they are even better than the openings (especially the first one Don't say 'lazy' and third one No, thank You) and the way they are created as MV just makes the whole HTT (the abbreviation of the name of their band) seem like an actual legit band

This anime is in my top 3 favourites of all time, everything about this anime is just masterful, the characters are all amazing, the main cast is one of the best in the CGDCT (cute girls doing cute things) genre, the supporting ones are interesting and have a bigger role than how it usually is, this is one of those anime where there is no best girl....every girl is the best girl, even tho i really like Mio's personality...the journey we got on with them during those 3 years the anime takes place, the emotions it honestly brings that genuinely made me cry cus i didn't want it to end, the beatiful visuals from the Kyoto Animation studio and ofc, the music...all the songs (op, ed and the songs in the anime itself) are happy, upbeat and just sounds really damn good AND, which is a thing i love when the anime does....they are all sung by the voice actresses of the characters, all the songs are by HTT themselves
This anime is one of the greatest comedy, music, slice of life, CGDCT anime ever made, i absolutely love it, it means a lot to me (hell, i own all the figures of the girls in costumes from the first ending among a lot of other ones and ofc, all the manga too)

Now i know this genre is not for everyone, it wasn't for me at first but anime like K-On!, Non Non Biyori and Yuru Camp opened this can of worms for me and now CGDCT along with Iyashikei (pretty much healing/feel good anime)
are my absolute favourite anime genres.
I will need to rewatch the whole anime including the movie now, that's a rule
