Deciding to keep the 01 or upgrade, opinions?
Keep the 01. I’m 15 and have 2 01 500 and 800 I love them. I also have a 96 ultra best sleds ever. Parts are cheap easy to replace. I personally not a very big fan of new sleds
I was 17 when I got this 800, been riding for a few years and love it! For the riding conditions we have it isn't worth getting a new one. Good to see another youngin enjoying the sport!
@@RRepair that’s also the thing you don’t know what you’re gonna get for snow. I’ll admit they do need work every now and then but it’s nothing awful. It’s really just sled stuff in general that any sled would need. I’ve had one of mine stripped right down to the chassis and since then I have touched that sled in 3 years now.
@@jaydenswiercz1032 I agree! Not much snow the last 3 years where I've been. I've also had mine stripped down a few times, ahaha. It's a good feeling knowing everything is taken care of cause you're the one doing it!
I love my 2002. Edge x. 800. Will never sell it. And it’s going to be buried with me when I go. New sleds are nice but this has been my dream sled since it came out. The blue and yellow just pop in the sun. I get thumbs up all the time.
Cruising through the cities to fill up, everyone stares and will comment at the pumps! An awesome feeling that there are people out there who appreciate the old sleds!
My '03 XCR 800 Triple would bury ALL of them. It flat out flew. Only sled I've ever been on that would pick the skis up at 60mph, and had a lot left at 100mph. I never lost a race, including one against an '03 F7.....
I am the youngest in the group and grew up hearing all these stories about the guys dads drag racing back then. All I heard about were the xcrs and could only imagine. I sure do love the old 800, trails are just getting a bit harsh for these old chassis!
I had a 04 XC that I put HTG twin pipes on jetted and clutched it. Ran anyone that would go, including built F 7's and Tripple's including one T cat 1000. Never had anyone come close except the T cat until the crank decided it was to long for the cases. It was like a one in a million sled.
I rebuilt it and never got the chance to race it again because of a accident at work, now in a wheel chair.
I had a 2001 800 RMK SnoChek 156", had the clutches balanced and rebuilt by IndyDan, that was one of the smoothest running sleds I've had, that was a twin. Even the service manager at the stealership said the same. Shouldn't have sold it. Great video.
That's exactly where we send all of our clutches! Huge, noticeable difference. This sled this year will be getting a complete rebuild and a few add ons. Hoping the snow for the 2022 season comes good!
man.. I had a o4 xc 800, also a o3 edgeX 800, it's like watching them whoop all over again, miss that pull.. have fun out there 👊🤙🤘✌👍
You to man! I love this chassis! i got some upgrades coming this year to be able to handle the more "modern" trails comfortably. being the oldest sled in the group has its disadvantages, haha
this past year since I last commented, I been wrenching on a lot of these newer sleds, and I gotta say I am not a fan.. the time it takes to do the usual maintenance compared to the edges is not even close. I hope your year was a good one dude. hope you a good winter ✌️👊
My dad and our family used to own a 1990 liquid cooled Indy 500 and that thing always felt faster than any of the new 600 IQ chassis fusion sleds we had, it just ripped
I had a 1995 liquid 500 that I had rebuilt completely (super young, definitely interested) and that was a super fun machine. One day I'll get a old sled to have fun with again!
ThatOneGuy1416 Hell yeah that’s awesome I miss riding that old one there’s nothing like it until you hit some bumps on the trail with like no suspension lol😂
@@alecfrazee2946 the trails are definitely getting worse for us old riders because of the new and improved sleds, lol.
ThatOneGuy1416 for sure they just rip it up so easy
@@alecfrazee2946 I ride all the new ones in our group and let me just say they are really nice though! Lol
I keep saying it. You can't beat the Older Sleds for Drag racing or all out top speed. I see the 2020's are geared better then the 2019's and clutching is better to with the helix angles. Now Only if there was an over drive for better belt life and longer runs like here in CANADA with no Speed limit
That’s funny he must have been pissed!
Just the Proof of a 20 year old sled out preforming the new sleds the Industry is gone to shit only Imagine using these motor on modern sleds
The newer sleds do have a bit better suspension though! Haha. "Old blue" as we call it, has been one of the most fun sled in the group. I dont think I'd upgrade to a newer one, just slowly upgrade the 01 and be happy.
That was impressive the xc800 really held its own compared to the new competitors
The 800 has been in the family for about 6 years or so. Very well maintained and taken care of.
@@RRepair what is done to the motor? I'm guess not stock at all
@@justforlaughs8988 motor is completely stock. Non ves, stock exhaust with a MBRP race can. Stock gearing also, I did have the clutches sent out to Indy Dan and serviced and balanced.
are they all studded?
The 850 and apex weren't in the time of the video if I remember correctly.
Apex won.
Miss my 800 non ves 01s
Exactly what this is! Nothing beats the power
