That’s what a sled should look and sound like. The sleds of today may perform better but in my opinion the old and conventional style just looked so cool!
I don't know if you remember me I asked about the 580 piston kit thank you for answering back I'm 28 years old and just successfully rebuild the top end of a snowmobile my first time I only had it running for about 3 minutes because it was going on midnight when I finished it
I was hard on a few really nice low mile triples last year, I just wanted to fire it up now and then. But couldn't get a deal done. Now I've just sold the sleds recently in anticipation of a move south. Snowmobiles and winter are what I'll miss most.
Sounds Incredible!!!! is that your signature trash can? Nothing but smiles here and a big old high 5. Keep blessing these pieces of pure American muscle. 🙏🏼 💯🔥👍
Love that thing haha 😂 sounds good! Good luck with the sleds and be safe guys! , oh and love that chubby chaser😂 , you’ll have to show duck tape Mike mine
I love those old triples! I used to own a 600 xcr in the same body style except white and also a 600 xlt. They were amazing! After many miles, the engines on both machine failed (the xcr motor still ran but the crank sheared off flush at the block. The clutch flew off when going across a lake). Very cool video. If you know of any of these older Polaris triples in good shape for sale let me know! I would love to have one for a hobby.
Thing 1 is looking damn good and sounding even better!!! Saw an ad for one close to me in what appears to be very good to excellent condition, they want $3800 for it.
Hey Todd not sure if this topic has been talked about yet but when you put the new cylinder and new piston on was it a brand new cylinder or a good used one? I mentioned to you before if you recall that I just rebuilt my XCR 800 and I did new pistons and rings but I kept my original cylinders, and did nothing to them cause they still looked good with good cross hatching Should I have done to the cylinder walls before I put in the new Pistons and rings? Hone/deglaze? Am I just good to go? Or should I take it back apart and deglaze/home the cylinders. I know they are nikasyl
When you going to make some trash cans for these?? My old man had a DG, was a little too obnoxious long term IMO and I prefer the two 1" holes in the factory can. Pipes turned out nice!
So many people will probably argue with me over this, however, I do believe those XCR had the best gauge cluster. Just a personal preference. Enjoy the weekend, all your hard work is about to pay off. Keep up the great content. Cheers
Yes. - can agree- that’s another good point that when you sit down behind the gauge and the council you actually have some wind protection - the new sleds where sitting up high in the wind makes it a much colder ride as you’re not protected by the engine compartment !!!
@@dansmock656 fully agreed, I haven't been lucky enough to ride the newer models yet. I have been told by owners, to your point, that they get no wind protection at all.
@@gammaboxer9765 well you can see it watching any video of the new sleds- the other thing is that they’re not really all that stable - yes tall suspension but look at the crashes very interesting to see
@@dansmock656 ever since I saw the newer sleds on snowtrax UA-cam I wasn't convinced of their stability. The show presenters were having a hard time holding them down. Good for jumps, crap for the corners.
Glad to see you got it sorted out…never saw a symptom hope you have fun. I’ll be buying a sweater…ps I messaged you right back about jetting idk if you got it.ps already miss them 😢
I never got the message. We jetted for our area 420 mains had 400s in it. Not blaming anyone I know you didn't do the work on um. Amazing they ran. PS no port work in the one you thought someone ported. 🍻
Wow that sounds just MEAN!! I’m not sure if Ol’ Duct Tape is Family…But he should be! Seems like a real good guy. Good job getting that SCREAMIN’ DEMON going!!
Triples always sounded the best in my opinion. I had a 98 xcr 800 with psi pipes and triple stinger and v-force reeds and 40mm lectron carbs. It would rock and roll.
No thanks to you guy's i went and purchased my first triple last weekend 680 ultra slp pipes the sound in person is incredible it can't be compared to a video.
Hey todd, bought a 96 xlt triple mountain mod sled. Was wondering where i could track down aftermarket suspension, trailing arms. If anyone can help me out i think this is where to ask
What pipes are on that beast?I'm picking the same exact one up this weekend $150 lol guy just wants it gone its a friend of mines friend not in as good of shape as yours right now but thinking clean it up throw a windshield on it and replace a few idler wheels and clean carbs and power valves and ride it see how it goes if I don't like it it'll be up for sale or trade its only the second tripple ive had and always heard horror stories about tripples but figure for $150 what do I have to lose hearing you're sleds made me want one lol .
If that was a efi triple polaris what system did you use? I have been digging and if i had to do one, it would be a custom ecu, wiring, throttle bodies etc.
I am falling apart too.. but a Polaris Muscle Sled should not have Reverse.. it the pure pain of joy trying to get them off the trailer or turned around at the bar
Fucking reverse!!!!!!!!! Gotta love that 4x4” lever you can grab backing off the trailer instead of using two men and a boy to drag it down the ramp! It’s only a few more pieces in the chain case, and oh so nice.

I totally agree 😁
Absolutely agree
Depends on your description of ‘perform’ 😅🤣
Suspension performs better.
They may be old but the old low heavy wedge indys fly around a circle track and handle straights good because of the wide stance
Ahhh the sweet sound of 800 xcr triple. Music to my ears.
You got that right
Such a unique sound...love hearing those come across the lake at night when i was a kid
Music to the ears
wow... I enjoy hearing these things approaching from a distance. you can tell a 800 triple when you hear one!

The more I watch the worse the triple itch gets. Man these sleds are badass Todd.

And its gonna be located near boise idaho (elevation wise)
