It's 2024 and I got some observations on this band and the absolute masterpiece peak performance! First, we have the beat that is this pop/cow bell/glam foundation. Steven "popcorn" Adler (for bouncing up and down while flaying his arms in a round show bizz way) was part of the pretty boy Dolls/Hanoi Rocks/Poison/Warrant kind of look while not being that far removed from Tommy Lee himself. He was the "fun" guy in the band and it was clear he was compensating for what he and others went through. Love Adler and he was essential. Second you got Duff McKagen. The quiet giant. The one that probably could kick the most ass in the band. This is their punk influence that goes back to his love for Prince to Black Flag. If there is any doubt to what he is bringing, go to Rocket Queen or to this "jungle" interlude. When he did the tribute to Johnny Thunders his singing practically comes through on this display of thunder. When this band getsin a rumble, he is the man you want for back up. Third Izzy Stradlin. The man that obviously didn't give a shit about the fame. He is the true hippie. You get yourself a mix of his country uncle background, to his love for Dylan, to even a bit of swing jazz from his grandmother. This dude is the man you smoke some weed with and chill. Oh note that locomotive 2 step whistle sound in the interlude here. I can feel so much chugging along like a rhythm freight train that makes a mess of ya. He is the dude that is gonna give you the finger and barely mean it. Fourth the Slash man. As has been told....with all the Eddie Van Halen hair band imitators, this dude does not apply. Him being half black, he clearly brings some soul to the band. You clearly got everything from Jimmy Page to Santana to even that top hat giving a Sammy Davis Jr. Bojangles vibe. Dude is a relic of the past and assaulting your ears with melodic dysfunction. If the rhythm is the set up, then this snakepit is gonna inject you with the lead straight to your spine while he drags that cigarette like a modern Hendrix doing the Star Spangled banner. His Jack drinking stumblin' sensitive man can fool ya. Speaking of that, last but not least, the personality that no screwed up band can live without, Axl Rose. You got your Bon Scott, David Lee Roth...the dude that is the wild card. You don't know whether he is gonna bring the house down or literally, burn it to the ground. He is a fiery redhead with Freddie Mercury/Elton John/Elvis influence. Dude had the voice, the look and most importantly his rebellious small town religious restricted upbringing that has all the makings of infamous no filter tirades that caught this band's lighting in a bottle with perfection.
