Bits are alot more affordable if you get them for the MAN version. They have all VW parts. Had an issue getting a door loom for one but got an MAN one for half price and was stamped VW
Reason that side door is good , and sill isn't because door is open and loaded with a forklift the truck mast hits the sill on the van leaving 2 dents happens all the time
If it brought for a camper conversation I don't think anyone will worry it's not boarded out inside.
I was just going to say make a camper out if it
My thoughts exaxtly
Perfect van for camper conversion , once fixed that'll sell all day long
totally agree perfect camper and no need for the interior parts.
I had exactly the same thought would be ideal as a camper and bang on trend for someone looking to live off grid 👍
Chris straight in and looking for money 😂 keep up the good work fellas
Love it, that cracked me right up. Its always rewarding to find some pounds jammed away somewhere.

That will make a great camper, don’t worry about the panels inside as they would be removed for fit out. Great content as always ❤
That low, low transport trailer the van was delivered on looks interesting.
PS - since you bought the van off a chemical company, perhaps it’s better that the interior back floor and panels had been removed.
Not such a bad van, only door it REALLY needs is the drivers door, sell it to a builder or a courier and he’s not gonna be bothered about a few little dinks in the other doors.
Common problems I’ve found with these crafter is…..rear barn door are known for the door itself where the hinge is mounted to crack and bottom sliding door roller are common to go plus EGR cooler as well but good luck Rob and Chris 👍
Great video lads, I keep saying it over again, Copart is a complete waste of time, they are far too expensive with fees
Agreed, surprised people buy vehicles of their prices, clearly they do!
@@STANLIZ4 Someone suggested I buy a Cat N from Copart to tide me over until such time as I know what's going to happen to my 'proper' car in order to save me renting cars to get to work. I found something and ran it past their cost calculator... and it doubled the cost! Once upon a time you could go to a scrapyard and buy 'damaged repairables' direct from them - I wonder if that's still the case?
@@HowardLeVert you’re right, friend used to buy them from copart - said, “too many at it, not worth risk” so insurance/private repairs only now
You not seen the citan video they posted lately? Copart can be worth it to salvagers who know what they are doing. Not yuppies like you that want a cheap drivable used car.
That is proper scummy of them to do that with the van! What a bunch of crooks... as disappointing as it is I'm sure u guys will get the van looking good as new again! It'll be a great van for a camper. Especially with all the panels already removed out the back.
Why is it, they've used it as a donor van, then sold what's left and they didn't want..... No one forced rob to buy it he knew the score before he handed brass over
@@MarcBirksit's definitely going to need some dealers mist when he sells it 😂
That's why it was cheap! 🤷🏻♂️
If u watch the video again, Rob says he had to renegotiate the price cause he didn't know about all the bits missing 😂
@@chrismcconnell5680 I know that but my point is, he still chose to buy it than walk away...
Evening guys 👍🏻 Chris and his opening line was hilarious 🤣 It’ll be a great fix for the channel but the profit margin will probably be a bit lower but we’ll worth the fix 👍🏻
It's he "old story" - any vehicle in a fleet that is stopped in the depot for any length time and is unusable becomes a "Christmas tree" and is robbed of parts to get damaged vehicles back into service with minimal cost to the owners.
It is a bit rougher than you thought it would be. Of course fix the drivers corner, put on the missing parts, fix the sills under the side and back doors, do some pull and fill on the doors, put some panels on the inside of the doors, clean up the interior and sell it on. Apparently it runs good so maybe some service (oil change, etc). Some potential buyer may want to fit it in their own way inside.
‘It’s not dogged to death at all, is it?’. 😂 Great stuff as always from Chris & Rob.
Bonnets been swapped too, proper dodgy.
HSE would have a field day if they happen to see that guy at the beginning riding on the forks of that FLT .
You've never worked in a warehouse have you office boy.
Rob, I noticed that there isn't a marker light on the corresponding position to the sliding door on the offside so I'll say that they're not fitted to the door.
Yet again good to see them supportive of each other.
Bit sneaky to swap the good bits for bad, certainly o.k. if was disclosed to you, if it wasn't then a bit of a shame - could see how in a business it could have been done then forgotten about but still, bit naughty if not disclosed. Edit to say that if it's bare inside then might make a good base for a camper conversion for somebody!
Five doors, it beggars belief the lengths the previous owners stoop to prior to the sale . Your sense of humour and sheer professionalism will put it right.
Great video, midway through watching it, but that cill damage is a forklift truck loading through the side door. A lot of the vans at work have the same. It’s where the forklift driver hits the van, pushing a pallet in as far to the o/s that they can. Right I will continue watching👍
Should be good money in the van. Fitted an ODM driveshaft to my sons C1 no issues 1 year on.
Chris . The "Straight liner " will pull that sliding door out and if it doesn't , get a nice piece of right angle, tack weld the straght edge to the swage line and use the pull dozer . ( No doubt you've already thought of that ) And l must say the seller was definitely out of order to try and tuck you up .......NAUGHTY ! You may find a buyer with the van as it is who'd convert it . Cheers !
The damage on the sill is from it being loaded through the side door with a forklift, that be why door not damaged, 👍
Hello Chris and Rob, it looked a bit rough, then after the front drive shaft and suspension has been replaced, and it rolls on it's own wheels - job is a good one!! Now the doors and some panel beating - Chris to the rescue!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire.
And ROB, John. They don't resuce themselves, and they might get you a wig.
Good news on that front wheel assembly Rob, as soon as you can find a drivers door I’m sure Chris will perform his magic on that front corner damage and you’re starting to look at a big jump in value! 🙏👍
Hey lads it needs a new front tyre you never noticed the nail on the inside tread ......can't plug it 😅😅😅😅😅
Great video guys I'm sure your work your magic on it. bit naughty changing the doors over 🙊
I guess to give the benefit of doubt, being from a chemical company, it could have had labelling that was removed from the doors. Similarly the interior might have required waterproof/chemical resistant lining that needed to be removed.
I have neither
Ouch. Think Chris was not happy with you in the intro video. What a shame that the company did what it did to the van. Hopefully you guys will have it back up and running soon.
I remember you got a van from a firm that was damaged and they 'pinched' parts from it but at least you knew in that case they had taken the parts. This was a bit naughty I think. The bonus is it runs and drives fine so all is good there. I think the doors will be the most expensive bit of this project so lets hope you get lucky. I liked the intro, I thought Chris was giving the guy that sold it a talking to so a good edit there Rob. Thanks again Rob and Chris for another great video, stay warm Gents. 👍👍
I think its going to be one of those vans where you will have to do just enough to get it functional and roadworthy. It's a white van and many owners don't care about looks, as long as it works it is good enough.
As an old mechanic mate of mine who's sadly not around would say ................It's had more hits than the Beatles
Look good shame transport manager used it as a part’s van for his other vans .👍👍👍
Lovely, and yet again I love your optimism. Can't wait to see how you assess the damage to the body.
Just get it rolling and punt through copart. Not worth the amount of bodywork n paint. This was a sting.
Your talking my language rob. “Chord a door off it”. 😂😂😂😂. As a van man I’m really looking forward to this chaps.
After Chris said about popping the old shaft out and sliding the new one in, my Mrs has told me she wants another baby. Cheers guys lol!
Get it moving and use it as storage while you find the bits. Be a nice summer job that.
That's got camper conversion written all over it. It won't matter that the boarding out has been removed, they'll want to remove it anyway to insulate the walls and then they'll want their own finish boarding when they fit it out.
agree mate
Good point 👍
I am sure Chris will work his magic again on this one
Why don’t you do a camper van build video series? This van looks perfect. Think of the money lads!!
Ha, that intro made me chuckle straight away
No context needed lol
Time for Rob to get polishing!
lads you amaze me, my first car was a ford angler brought from freinds moving to Australia. How ever if failed the MOT due to rust. But from then onwards I learned how to repair my cars. Modern cars the man in the street can't touch.
Knowing you guys, this will be back on the road andf looking great soon. Sounds good and you're right it's so long, wouldn't want the job of parking that in a city street! As you say parts expensive but hopefully a reasonable return. 👍👍👍
Being from a chemical company the plywood panels could of been removed because of contaminated material.
Keep the noise down son
Get a life.
Who's coat is that jacket 😂
@@Cat-D-Leewho's shoes are those trainers ?
@@ianhadfield65 where was you going last night when I seen you going home 😁
Any vehicle in a fleet that is non-operable for an extended period quickly becomes a parts source. It is possible that the damaged components such as the doors may have swapped for undamaged original parts from the van.
The damage under the side loading door is common damage from forklifts hence theres no damage on the door.
When you look closely at this van, it actually isn't that bad. If it was a chemical carrier it probably wasn't boarded in the first place as it is easier to clean spills off the metal, and also more anchor points for barrels. OK, so they swapped a few doors, but this was an insurance claim so why not. If they got a payout on it then the van was scrap to them.
I think you've got another good 'un here guys. Looking forward to seeing Chris doing his magic. Cheers, Bob
Let Chris work his magic on the side door and sill, a lot of time but he’ll get it spot on 👍 front door is fooked.
With Chris's bodywork skills I'm sure he could repair the side/back/passenger doors instead of buying new/old even taking into account the time factor against cost of replacements go on chris you know you want to
Good afternoon Rob and Chris, that will be a good van for someone when it’s finished. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.
Love it when Chris looks for money 🤣🤣
What about filling and painting the sliding door? It's a van they all have dents. Carpenter won't care about the boarding missing we change them all anyway. U don't wanna have a holiday in Kerry by any chance? U can fly home
Love how they get straight on into fixing it up, Like mentioned will make an ideal camper conversion project for someone without a doubt, its the long version so ideal. would give the van a total new look if they could shove some cheap aftermarket VW alloys on or something but i guess depends on how much they want to spend.
That van is minimum a L 3, or L4 because by vw l1 and l2 are the lengths of the transporter and goes further by l3 in the crafter
The way that driveshaft was pulled out, I was surprised that there wasn't any damage to the gearbox but at least she's rolling again
Another great video guys .., the sill is probably damage from loading with forklifts … seen it before …. They may have removed the lining in the back because of the chemicals they carried in it ?
Brilliant video lads - good that you were able to re-negotiate the price Rob! Unbelievable when it fired straight up!! As loads of others have said “will make an ideal stealth camper conversion.” It’s going to make a lovely van! 😊 looking forward to the future videos.
I bought a Sprinter once on Ebay and when I picked it up they'd gone and changed all the tyres over for old ones. I was not impressed. But you'll turn this around pretty quick and it'll be out the door. Looks like a nice van but shame about the boarding.
Was a bit cheeky doing that with the doors etc, not sure if I'd deal with them again though. Great video, I'm sure you'll be turning it around in no time.
Yeah poor form.
Like, I get the whole swapping good bits over but not after agreeing a sale - that’s just bad karma.
it's a used van. it's going to be scuffed up
Chris popping the old shaft out 😂
About to say the same 😅
Hi great video thanks ther is company down you way that have new doors they take off to make the vans to fridge van worth looking
That Sills on side Door damaged by forklift pullin out palets ...so that why Doors ok ..always opened during unloading...bht plenty different white colours ttones on IT ...
But cheeky of the company to remove passenger and side loading door and the boarding from the rear of the van a bit naughty.you and Chris will still do a fantastic job on the van 👍🏻
This will make an ideal l camper van conversion this one.
Just repair the drivers side front, side loading door, two back doors, 1 back light and then if you have time we would like to see you convert it then see your profit triple
if the other doors have key holes check if your key works in the locks. But they could switch locks also. I don't think it's crooked of them the probably have a in house bloke who has to keep the fleet on the road and the stuff gets switched without management knowing , wouldn't matter if it was taken by insurance . I do think you to have the rite to be p***** off and grumpy.Jim in N Z
Try merc sprinter parts, after all they’re the same main body panels
Completely different
@@sruk oooh yes, they changed the swage line on the later model
If you were able to knock the price down then fair play to you guys. Looking forward to Chris working his magic on this one
I would so love to have a van like that. I could put my mobility scooter in it, go fishing and even camping. It would open a new world like I used to have. Sorry to go on
Don't apologise - I hope you find something that will let you return to doing the things you love.
Looks like it will clean up well enough for work. Could be Chris’s stealth conversion lots of room inside. Thanks for sharing Gentlemen
Hi lads . Great video and I think it's about time amazon snapped you guys up to do a TV show ...
Always something different - always interesting -- thanks Rob/Chris
Hello Rob and Chris, great work done already getting the van back on its wheels and driving,a few things need sorting but it will make a brilliant van.
Initial impression was that it would be better selling it to a van breaker given what needs doing, its age/mileage and value of the engine, etc. Not sure it's worth doing a full pristine restoration and respray. Driver's door seems to have been pushed back and given its height can you get it in the workshop to pull it back into shape? - be flipping cold working on it outside.
Nice one boys you will make that panel van shine and turn a tidy sum leaving a bit on the bone. With chris on the tools and rob on the polish crack on
The left side sill damage is from forklift loading stuff in and out and bumping into sill. It is quite common on those cars seems like people just dont care.
Fair play that you were able to renegotiate the purchase price Rob , deffo a pain to have to find the extra bits tho , looking forward to Chris working his magic...see you soon 😊
Cheeky buggers taking the good bits off that one and fitting damaged ones.
Good too see it running and driving.
Good buy guys, vw crafter & merc sprinter& M A N VEHICLES ALL THE SAME VAN .
Good video as always love to see this one in perfect condition again.
thankyou gentlemen this is going to be a smashing project.
have yourselves a great weekend,👍👍
Serious money to be made if you guys turn that into a day or camper van, go for it guys.
Super long wheelbase, someone would love this for a camper conversation.
Unusual for a large company to swipe bits off for another… wonder if the drivers did it unknown to company to improve / cover up damage they’ve done to other vans…
That's a camper conversation project 100% of the time
You guys know best I know, but I think I’d consider repairing the impact damage and minor other bits like door latch. 12 months mot and leave the near side and rear doors as they are.
Would still be a working van for someone and you’d make money?
Really enjoying the videos guys keep them coming
A good shout on this one guys, result on the engine and gearbox.
would have been hilarious if Chris came back from the test drive and said, " got a delivery for ya " and threw a box out the window 🤣🤣🤣
A nice van , straight forward repair , and I guess it was nice and cheap , good luck guys 👍👍
Most people would look at that and think "no way"
Chris And Rob say "let's get parts ordered"😂
Irrespective of the van being cannibalised by the previous company, you've bought well again. The old saying's going to apply on this one, you make your profit when you buy it, not when you sell it. Great work again lads.
I wouldn't go full camper but prep it for someone that will, set of wheels, body colour all the body moldings, privacy glass etc then clean the inside up, you'll get top money for the van without getting involved in the time consuming camper bit, let someone else do that over winter 👍🏼
Nice one guys!! you'll do it. Look forward to the follow up videos. "Thanks" 👍
Hi guy it was like the earlier days in the cab and out collecting a vehicle, so vw a popular vehicle and efficiently brought back to life, at least where you obtained the parts was a one stop shop well done fantastic video
would love to see a camper build from this especially as the little renault van was denied . would make a handsome proffit ........................keep up your good work love this channel
Hi rob and Chris, great video what a great van, it won't take you and Chris long to fix it, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
I think you've been done over with that van . You both do a great job with your vehicles
Oh!, come on guy's, this is your moment!, quick body repair, reline the interior, cut the side out, a couple of deep fat fryers, LED signage, viola, the ultimate Fish & Chip van to go with the boat, quids in!! 👌😏😏
