How to install a super fast broadband cable for VDSL and FTTC BT Infinity
Вставка

- This video is an example of a good quality VDSL lead for super fast broadband like BT Infinity and other FTTC service providers when you have the VDSL faceplate fitted to your NTE5 Master socket. This cable is NOT for use with CABLE broadband like Virgin Media.
The cable use either cat5e or cat6 data cable.
Please go to www.mrtelephone... to find this cable.
Thanks Vince
6 years ago , and your videos are better than our ISP technicians . by the way we still stuck with expensive adsl and fiber. the plans are adsl2+ 2mbps - 8 mbps - 20 mbps and 100 mbps only on fiber
Nice to put a face to the channel. Love the channel. Currently watching the backlog.
I love the "Ok, yea", "Right, ok", "Yea". "Ok? Yea"... It's the region/accent, but it's so noticeable as someone from outside the UK.
Changed my master socket to a VDSL2 one and bought one of your cables, got 10 extra mpbs on my infinity broadband - legend, cheers for this advice!
Installed a VDSL2 faceplate and purchased one of your cables - got an extra 5mbps! I now get 74mpbs down and 19mbps up. Thank you!
Thanks Max :-)
Is it like having vdsl ?
how do u get high upload speeds? i get 100+ mbps down but i only around 10 mbps up..
Thanks for getting back to me Vince and sharing your knowledge.
Nice Info. Here in Germany all ADSL and VDSL Modems use RJ45 jacks. Most of them are branded "Fritz!Box", a german company how let them manufactured in PRC.
I'm moving home in a week or so and having infinity installed, I think ill talk the misses into buying one of these cables, I've always found the ones any provider gives you are cheap and I've had quite a few break on me, for the price this seems really awesome.
just had fibre installed today and ordered one of these off your shop after watching this video
Darren Ramsay Cheers Darren.
FYI Vince the twisting creates something called common mode rejection. Cat5 and Cat6 cable is better but not on very long runs as network cable is a different impedance to telephone cable. Whilst rare on long runs 25m+ you can get a lot of crc errors. It is nice to see someone who cares about quality for a change though and IMHO its time this so called 1st world country sorted its act out and ditch the 3rd world network that is still found in many places!
Great video. The wires are so small in our Master Socket, I think the spider who live in it wired them!
Hi Vince, thanks for the great videos. Have you ceased trading on ebay? Your link from your website is sending me to eBay to be told that your shop doesn't exist anymore. Cheers.
Brought your cable and let me just say it's way better than the cheapy ISP supplied one.
Thanks for your videos really informative just fitted a Master socket bought from you seams to have speeded up my internet so thanks keep up the good work cheers
First I thought you´re one of those guys never showing their faces in the videos, but here are you!
Oh wow I finally got to see your face lol I know this 4 years old but its ok
Hi Vince, when I watched the video originally it made a lot of sense that the twisted cable picks up less interference and in certain situations I think this could have great benefits but as far as I can tell, I tried switching my router from a short cat 5 from the wall to modem over to a 10 meter flat extension and in my case there was no difference in speed, noise or attenuation.
+Warlock 5822 Hi, some people notice no difference but others report a good increase. Maybe in your setup you may not have a lot of external interference from dect phones etc. or maybe you may notice a difference as speeds increase in the future so hopefully you can use the short cat5 lead then. Many thanks Vince
Thank You They are the same cables I had and I replace them with the cable as you said you recommended and my Internet speed is crazy thank you
Hi Vince
I have just laid Belkin CAT6 cable (I hoping Belkin CAT6 cable is good enough?) from the MK3 BT VDSL faceplate up through the ceiling and under the floorboards upstairs to the location where my Billion 7800N router and BT-supplied VDSL modem live.
I would like to test whether this cable is going work, but the VDSL modem as you know has RJ11 socket and the uncut Belkin CAT6 cable is RJ45 both ends. I don't currently have any RJ11 plugs with which to make a CAT6 based RJ45>RJ11 hybrid cable, but I do have a few RJ45 plugs so can make up a 4-wire (YGRB) based RJ11>RJ45 hybrid cable, with a view to using an RJ45 coupler to test the connection. However, I cannot work out which of the contacts within the RJ45 plug I need to connect the four wires. I have made one using the centre 4 contacts in the RJ45 plug and as long as I plug the RJ11 end of the cable into the RJ45 socket of the 'Master' unit of my cheapo cable tester and the RJ45 end of the cable into the RJ45 socket of the 'Remote' unit, LEDs 3,4,5 and 6 illumuinate, but would like clarification if this is correct or not.
Alternatively, if I plug the RJ11 plug into the RJ11 socket of the 'Master' unit of the cable tester and the RJ45 into the RJ45 socket of the 'Remote' unit, only three pais of mis-matched LEDs illumuinate (2+3, 4+5 and 5+6). Is this normal?
I'm also guessing that this type of hybrid cable won't give a true reading of any speed increase due to the copper stranded nature of the cable, but just want to check everything is connected properly it before my Fritz!Box 7490 (which appears to have RJ45 VDSL socket) arrives next week, which should enable me to have a one-box solution.
Apologies for the long comment and I hope you understand what I'm on about.
***** Hi, fully understand. Yes it is wired up correctly and showing the correct pins when using RJ45 to RJ45 on tester. I just tested a cable here from RJ11 on master to RJ45 on remote and it matches your description (not sure why it is missing out pin 3 to 4 but it is happening on my cheapo cable tester as well). It appears that you have it all sorted. Many thanks Vince
To be honest, I thought you'd understand. I just wish I left the comment prior to wasting five RJ45 plugs, thinking I had fluffed the terminations. What I have found amusing is that whilst I totally understand your terminology during your videos, the missus has overeard some and thought you were talking a strange foreign language with all the talk of RJ11, RJ45, VDSL etc. LOL. Thanks again for you help and your extremely infomative and easy to understand videos.
even twisted wires need shielding as vdsl,,if not shielded can emmit a broad interference pattern in the low hf rf spectrum,,,anywhere from 1.5 mhz up to 17mhz ,,,its a wide band noise with a few guard bands in there,,,cant remember exactly where
Great Videos. Very clear. Have ordered one of your CAT5e cables
Brendan West
Any improvement for you?
Awesome, I learned so much. Now going to check my connections and upgrade my cables.
The cable from the socket to the modem is transmitting a modulated signal, a meter of CAT6 cable will offer very little in data protection, the signal may have travelled over 5 miles to the house.
I bought this cable a few weeks ago, i already have good speeds at around 70meg down and 18meg up with plusnet. My ping was always around 25 ish, so this purchase was all about piece of mind for me. It hasn't disappointed. My ping has slightly improved to around 21. My down/up speeds are the same but my connection is great anyway. Glad i purchased this cable. My pals didnt believe me when i said u could fit a rj45 in the socket lol. Cheers vince. Getting bt infinity 2 next week, cant wait to get my hands on the hub 5
David Forster Thanks David for sharing the info. Good luck with the Infinity 2.Vince
When I moved in to my apartment, I wired up the telephone system myself. That was actually 20 years ago. Would it be worth my rewiring it? I really don't want to pay BT.
Excellent video
hi vince ive got the white flat cable running from my bedroom socket to my hall master socket with bt plug on the master socket end !
It says your eBay shop is no longer available. I was looking to get some of these cable's. Is it closed down permanently?
May I say that you're a very handsome man. I bet you're popular with the ladies.
and with the lads ;)
@@EllisPerhaps exactly.
EURO VEGAN wtf man
That's what being vegan does to you, as well as your hair and teeth falling out it seems it makes you a little queer :)
It's the eyes most likely XD
My Mate VINCE we spoke last year about these rj45 to rj11 cable i bought one on ebay like you said to but the end of the rj11 has broke because the wire is to heavy for the little end. So i was wondering when are you selling your ones again because you said yours are good quality
Thanks for that I appreciate it.
Your ebay store does not exist? Your link comes up with a message. Maybe you are no longer trading?
I can't get to your shop. Are you still supplying?
Finally I see your face! I love your videos!
Hey Vince thank you for this video my face plate is different to the ones you've mentioned in your video. mine has a port for the telephone connection and a TV arial port only, I have a small ADSL/ Phone splitter coming from the telephone connection port where I attach BTs rubbish cable into the hub5. In my case will replacing BTs rubbish cable with yours boost my speeds
Thanks again
Dan
+Dan Chambers Hi Dan, you would need a RJ11 to RJ11 cable as the big RJ45 plug will not fit into the ADSL / phone splitter. You may not notice any difference depending on how your current lead is performing. Some people notice a nice increase others notice no difference at all.
Thanks Vince.
+My Mate VINCE cool thanks for getting back to me is that cable to go into in the splitter? would it be worth removing the landline and the splitter and getting one of your cables to go from the wall to the modem to increase download speed? thanks again Dan
I'm not convinced. The number of twists per meter is calibrated such that the cancellation effect occurs for specific frequencies.
If you look closely at Cat 5, Cat 6 or Cat 7 TP, you will see the different pairs are twisted differently. This is such that the cancellation effect occurs with the specific frequencies that use them in Ethernet. This is probably why the RJs need to be terminated in a specific ordering and not just the same on both ends.
Do you have any proof Cat5 or Cat6 is faster than the flat cable?
Love this Channel
Hi, great video - thanks.
I have used this kind of set up with the RJ45 plug. I'm now shifting all my comm from under the stairs to the box room, I was wondering if it's best to make up a longer cat5e/6 cable from the NTE to my router or is i best to shift the NTE to the new location and use my existing short CAT5e cable that I am currently using?
Hi, really useful videos. Will the signal degrade if my BT Home Hub is 25m away from the master socket using a cat6 cable?
Hi Vince....Thanks for posting this video but forgive me if I'm a little slow on the uptake but I am waiting for my TalkTalk Fibre (FTTC) connection to switch over on 3rd August. I've just installed a BT Openreach Master Socket (IDC-type) and BT Openreach VDSL MK3 filtered faceplate. The problem is that the VDSL socket is an RJ11 socket and will not fit an RJ45 plug as I've tried to fit my phone in the the top VDSL socket. Sorry but am I missing something here? Thanks again
Hi Vince,
Do you have any video about how to wire an RJ45 to RJ11 lead, thank you
Seven Hi, no not at the moment but I will do one. I have been a bit slack recently on doing these videos but I will try and get some done in the next couple of weeks. Thanks Vince
Seven Hi, just uploaded a video earlier on the rj11 to rj45 lead using cat6 cable. Thanks Vince
Hi Vince A very interesting video. The incoming bt connection in my house has a single socket into which I have plugged a filter, from which there are two cables: one to the phone and the other to the router. In addition to your cable will I need to update and purchase a socket with two-outlets. And would I be able to fit the new socket?
R
Very informative. Any advice on vendors for those of us "across the pond" short of dissecting a sacrifice cable before a larger purchase?
Eric Ladner Hi, I am not sure if I have read the question correctly but...you could ask the vendors if the cable has copper cores instead of copper clad aluminium (CCA) and ask if it is twisted pair cable. Thanks Vince
Hi,do u have the wiring diagram for these cables so i can make one myself?many thanks and keep up the good work.
I have PlusNet the sister company of BT I believe. I have the older BT master socket even though my house is 2007 buily. Should I upgrade to a VDSL face-plate? Cheers Vince. R
Great video 👍
Is it easy to install cat 6 cable
I can't find your eBay shop
Vince big respect for this vid, most helpful. question - is the wiring spec here straight through 1-6 with pins 7 and 8 not connected? or is there a specific spec for BT infinity lines? cheers
Jim Norfolk Hi, it is nice and simple. All you need is the middle 2 pins on both the RJ45 and the RJ11/RJ12. I make them up using 4 wires but the signal only travels down the middle 2. If you have a look through my other videos you will see one where I actually make up this lead so you can check it out as it may be useful. Many thanks Vince
Wouldn’t the phone lines in the walls be the weak point? Especially if the installer cheaped out with cat3 cable?
I don't understand why OpenReach don't use the Verizon ONT (Optical Network Terminal) which also supports two copper telephone line one of which could be used to connect to a SKY HD box the other to the Telephone, a Coaxial or LAN socket also it would be easier to use a prewired satellite cable to connect the ONT to the Motorola Cable Router and would allow between 10-100GBS or a LAN cable from the LAN port on the ONT to the Hauwei router and give slightly slower broadband is that doable?
Yeah, I never noticed I could fit a freaking RJ45 into the freaking wall socket, so, Yeah,... I'll be re-doing my cables now, so,... Yeah,..lol.. thanks, Mate.
are dsl cables just straight through, so can i just crimp them using the same colours on both sides
Hi, normally DSL cables are wired crossed but it will work whether you use a straight or crossed cable. It only uses the middle 2 pins and they will work either way round.
Hi Vince. Happy New year. When does your ebay shop open? A link please?
What is the best VDSL faceplate? where can I buy one and my BT refused to come in and install one for me.... not happy with them.
Would this cable work from a new openreach built in filtered socket to the openreach fibre modem that should be installed on the wall?
i had ADSL back in 2006
Hi vince, i have a single socket & Bt infinity will be activated tomorrow, the router has been set up, but i have not had a new socket, i use a filter on my socket will this Lead work with this?.
Hi mate, I don't have a phone line setup. Is it easy to do? As I want broadband setup. Previous tenant never had a land-line. Thank you
Hi Vince,
Recently had Infinity 2 installed and received the Home Hub 5. I bought a new VDSL/ADSL face plate and fitted it fine however, the hub light stayed orange and wouldn't give me broadband? I have now taken the faceplate back off and gone back to the old socket with the micro filter? What would you suggest or think the caused might be?
Really like your videos and definitely keep them up as they really are useful and help all us less techno people how to do things!!
Andy E Hi Andy, it sounds like it might be a faulty faceplate. It may be worth double checking the gold contacts on the plug sticking out the back of the faceplate to make sure they are clean and free from dirt also make sure that your lead is seated nicely and properly clicked in. Apart from that there isn't much else you can do if the faceplate itself is faulty. Thanks Vince
My Mate VINCE Morning Vince, many thanks for this advice and hopefully will be able to sort it. Thanks for coming back to me so quickly as well!! Cheers. Andy
My ISP says I'm getting 38mbps download speed and even a speed check can come close to that but in reality, the modem they have supplied is only kicking out at best 4mpbs on a high speed ethernet. It's using old adsl tech, am I bei g ripped off?
Vince. Great simple video. I have no room for the RJ45 clip as infinity master socket box is low to floor so can I wire the cat5e directly into the master socket and exit out of the bottom? Cheers
+David Hales Hi, if you have the A and B terminals on your ADSL or VDSL faceplate then yes you can. You need these A and B terminals and not the A and B which are on the back of the actual NTE5 master socket. Most modern ADSL and VDSL faceplate have the A and B terminals. Many thanks Vince
Cheers Vince - I'll check. ur videos are simple, easy to follow and comprehensive. Nice one.
+David Hales Thanks mate, I appreciate that.
Hello. Are you still selling these cables as sadly there's none in your online shop right now.
ye
Hi,
I'm getting my new bt infinity 2 activated tomorrow and after looking at your videos i have a few questions. My master socket is just a standard bt one with a single connection point for a telephone. When i install my hub i will have to use a micro filter. My question is would i be better getting one of your vdsl faceplates along with your cable?
Many Thanks
+Christopher Smith Hi, if you have phone extension wiring feeding other phone points in the property then an ADSL or VDSL faceplate can really help. If you do not have any phone extensions then an ADSL or VDSL faceplate will be unlikely to make any difference. Thanks Vince
I just watch 4 fun and to learn
My Mate Vince I’ve installed a VDSL faceplate and a VDSL cable and no broadband improvement yet does it take a few days?
I have a problem.. So basically my area i think is not enabled for Fibre Optics because the fastest speed I can find in my area is 4Mb. I have talked to Sky and stuff and said you can't get anything except for the 17mb but the estimate is 1mb to 3mb. Please help because my wifi I so slow
Will this work on the master socket 5c? With the adsl faceplate where you insert the rj11 if you have a faceplate with a rj11 port.
I know this is far from the point and I apologize if I'm being blunt, but god damn you're handsome.
You said about having 70 Meg coming down the line, to this cable... and all that.. But have you actually tested it, Does the difference in cable affect your speed at all? or? Am i missing something?
LERSE able Yes the cable can affect the speed just like cheap extension wiring can have a negative affect on the speed. The quality of the cable will play a part from the telephone exchange all the way to the modem/router.
Who’s wartching 2020
Well I am but having difficulty trying to find products from the man, ebay shop doesn't exist anymore ...
Hi Vince, I have bought one of your RG45 to RG11 cables but can you tell me this. A few years back I got a telecoms engineer to move my master socket from my hall to another room. He just re wired it differently using the blue and white cable and white and blue cable from the black bt cable entering my home connecting them to the same wires on the houses internal wiring! Now my question is, will this effect the performance of my fibre broadband moving my master socket in this way? The house is timber framed and is about 12 years old!
James Hart Hi James, no it will not affect the performance. On internal wire you would use the blue pair of wires. Sometimes the nte5 master socket can be attached straight onto the external cable (black BT cable) in which case the orange and white wires would be used straight on the master socket but if the master socket is not on an external wall or a long way from where the BT cable enters the property then white internal cable will be used which has the different colour code. (blue pair, orange pair and sometimes green pair).Hope this makes sense. Many thanks Vince
Sir how can I buy your rj11 to rj45 cable and vdsl faceplate
I am from Pakistan sir please help me I am tired to find it in my country please reply
Can't find your shop, are you still selling your cables??
hi im just on your eaby page, im looking for VDSL face plate but cant find it is this something you can only get from a bt engineer? i am also taking your advice and upgrading my router cable that you make. thanks for making the videos
+stevo050 Hi, the VDSL faceplate that I have now is slightly different from the one in the video, it replaces the whole front plate like the older ADSL faceplates rather than fitting in the middle of the NTE5 back plate and front plate. It is ebay item number 261019263819 (type that number into the ebay search bar). Thanks Vince
Can you please make a video for connection to laptop directly from NTE through ethernet cable
A short distance of nontwisted is not a big deal spec-wise.
So this is not for non-superfast BT type internet?
Hi, can you either describe or make a video on how to wire an RJ45 to RJ11 lead please. Would find it very useful
daz1811 Hi, I have added it to the video list....Thanks Vince
daz1811 The faceplate to modem cable only uses 1 pair of wires so you could use any or the 4 twisted pairs, (orange, green, blue or brown pairs). As long as the centre 2 pins (ones in the middle of your RJ11 to RJ45 connector) are the same it will work. I would probably wire up one extra twisted pair to the RJ11 plug just for a bit more rigidity. Its easier to use an existing pre wired RJ45 lead and put an RJ11 on the other end. In this case the RJ45 middle pins are normally blue, so just wire the RJ11 with the blue wire in the middle, and maybe the green wires each side.
I've done this at home and it works fine. My RJ12 old lead was good quality but just a bit too short. I didn't realise the VDSL faceplate was an RJ45 until looking watching the video. I just got an existing cable, cut one end off and fitted an RJ12 on the one end making sure the blue set of wires were in the middle two pins. Worked a treat. google "RJ45 pins" and you'll see what I mean by using the centre 2 blue wires. It doesn't matter which way around you have the blue wires in the RJ12 plug either as lone as they are in the middle.
Yeah ok yeah ok yeah ok YEAH OK YEAH OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Vince, great videos. Trying to troubleshoot my Infinity installation. Purchased a Cat 6 cable with RJ45 both ends and ADSL faceplate (not from you sorry but will in future!). Faceplate didn't seem to work, neither phone nor broadband worked so ordered VDSL I-Plate. Phone only works when RJ45 not plugged in and broadband doesn't seem to work as I'm plugging in RJ45 into VDSL socket on HH5. What am I doing wrong?
Martin Coles Hi Martin, you mentioned that you bought a cat6 lead with RJ45 on both ends but the HH5 needs to have a RJ11 which is the smaller plug. The RJ45 ports on the HH5 are Ethernet ports for connecting your pc/xbox/smart tv etc. The smaller RJ11 port on the HH5 is the input from your ADSL or VDSL plate, so try again but this time using your original ADSL lead which will have RJ11 on both ends and hopefully it will start working. The VDSL leads I sell are RJ45 one end for the VDSL faceplate and a RJ11 on the other end for the HH5 or other routers. Many thanks Vince
My Mate VINCE Thanks Vince. I've ordered an adaptor from your ebay shop now but will test the I-Plate as you suggest as well.
Thanks Martin.
Hi Vince, I see you are selling crossed and straight version of this cable. Which one should I purchase?
Thanks
Andrew Fleming Hi, I wouldn't go one that listing as that is made using telephone cable, have a look at ebay item number 351230438268 (type that number into the ebay search bar) to see the cat6 1m version, I also have cat5e versions and different lengths in my ebay shop. Many thanks Vince
Hi, I've got the new vdsl face plate for fibre broadband... Is it possible to connect the wires inside instead of having the plug stick out (rj45) I think you said. Many thanks
+Jason Hamilton Hi, yes, you connect the wires onto the A and B terminals on the VDSL faceplate.
Thanks.
myne solid copper what i cant understand is wireing is yellow white green brown still no reply
Vince I can never get on to your shop at eBay ?
8P8C - NOT RJ45. There's a fairly large difference.
Very good!!! ;-)
I Tecnici delle imprese telefoniche Thank you:-)
Hi vince Ive bt infinity 70mb down 17 up dnt know why is not stable thought was hub 6 changed to archer tp link AR600 wireless AC1600 master socket 5c no test socket as interuptions drops freezers one device alone or mobile as syc on causers sturting streams ps4 device been on 5ghz and mobile same causers drop in speeds im stuck ive considered dns change or dsl open reach modem dns doesnt improve i dont think modem will advice please
Is there also a vDSL2 faceplate? Or is it the same as the vDSL faceplate you showed us?
jamezz34 Hi, there is a mark 1, mark 2 and mark 3 faceplate. The one in the video is a mark 1 but all the Openreach design versions look the same. I now sell a different design which replaces the front plate of the existing nte5 master socket.
when are you re-opening your ebay shop?
am useing cat 6 ethernet mk4 faceplate im trying to work vr600 tp link with white modem please advice please re
I want to buy but your ebay profile doesn't have any listings?
He's closed down his Ebay listings 6-5 years ago
Hi Vince. I have the BT master socket in the corridor, way away from my living room and where my desktop computer is. There are Cat5e cables running through walls in my house and there are wall sockets in the living room and my computer room. There is an IDC connector in the new IPlate. Is it possible to create a Data extension through this IDC connector? Thanks.
***** Hi, yes on the new VDSL plate there are 2 IDC connectors marked A and B for you to hardwire a data extension to extend the unfiltered broadband signal which feeds your router/home hub. So you will be able to move your router to the other end of the cat5e cable. Many thanks Vince
My Mate VINCE Thanks Vince for your quick reply. I tried it and it works. But as it is unfiltered, I had to use an ADSL/Telephone splitter. So the next step is to buy a wall socket with separate ports for ADSL and Telephone. Thanks again. GREAT VIDEOS.
Where can I buy this from?
Hi, I have the Sky Q silver service with the latest modem/router that Sky provides. The issue I have is that my BT master socket (Old NTE5 socket) is in the hallway and there is no power points nearby so I have had to plug the modem/router into a telephone extension socket in the living room with the crappy lead that Sky provides. Can you advise if I can plug one of your VDSL faceplates into the old NTE5 socket and then run one of your CAT 6 RJ45 to RJ11 leads (about a 15 metre run) from the VDSL plate to the Sky modem/router ?
Hi, yes you can as long as it is definitely an NTE5 master socket (the one with the removable frontplate), the VDSL faceplates will fit onto all NTE5 master sockets no matter how old they are.
Thanks.
AEIB15243 your Sky engineer should have run the main line into your living room by crimping the line to the living room and should have put the BT socket on it and made it your primary socket. I would contact sky and get their engineer out to fix it.Their (skyq )box is also a wifi hotspot so it boosts your broadband signal around the house.
Informative video, thanks. I just had BT out because of my fibre problem. Told me the alarm wire installed connecting the MK2 and MK3 boxes when the house was rewired is no good so I need to replace with cat6. I have opened the boxes to but if I buy cat6 from you isnt that going to take up the port I need to plug my modem into?
Thanks
rbondy008 Hi, sorry I don't understand the question. Are you wanting to replace the cable between the Openreach wall socket and the Openreach modem or do you want to replace the cable between the Openreach modem and the homehub/router.
Sorry I was a bit vague. BT have put a MK3 box in the kitchen I already have a MK2 in the lounge. I use the pc on the lounge. The installer told me to connet a wire between the 2 boxes but if I do that where do I pug the router in, all ports are in use on the box in the lounge except the telephone port. Can I buy a box with 2 ports on the front? Thanks
rbondy008 No, you can't buy a VDSL faceplate with 2 ports. The VDSL faceplate should only be installed on the Master socket which is the 1st socket in the property so I don't know why the installer left 2 connected on the line. If your router is plugged into the MK3 VDSL faceplate in the kitchen and you don't want to rely on wireless then you will have to run an Ethernet cable from a spare port on the router to your computer in the lounge. Hope that makes sense.Thanks.
Ok Thanks for the reply....would this work- Change the 2m rj11 that is in the socket at the moment for a 15m long rj11 and run that to the modem I want in the lounge or will that cable be to long. Hope you see what I'm trying to achieve
rbondy008 Hi, I understand, you should be ok with a 15m cable but use a good quality cat5e or cat6 version.
FTTC means fiber to the curb, not cabinet, fiber going all the way into the house is known as FTTP - fiber to the prem
Google FTTC and you'll realise you are wrong.
You are talking about the Australian nbn right
I'm pretty confused, I have a BT Home Hub 5 which is connected with RJ11 to RJ11 to receive plusnets ADSL 2 fibre connection. I've tried RJ45 to RJ45 which didn't work. Are you saying to buy a cable that is RJ45 to RJ11?
+Nerd Gamer Geek The router needs a RJ11 but if you have an ADSL faceplate then this will allow both a RJ11 and a RJ45.
I have a VDSL faceplate from BT but I'm not sure if it is the newest? is the newest called VDSL MK3?
Your VDSL faceplate will allow a RJ45 plug to be plugged into it.
Would the rj45 work for my sky broadband. Im on the 17mb and its slow
If you say "yeah" once more I will scream! Your cables are good quality by the way, but do some editing.
True, I did say 'yeah' a lot. Apologies I have tried my best not to repeat the same words in future videos:-)
But that is the beauty of the english language, you say 'yeah', my mate in Alberta says 'ayee', me an Aussie says 'mate', but we all know what you are on about. Cashpot just pull your head in this bloke was teaching you about internet cords not doing an english class
Cashpot you fuckwit Pissflap
Cashpot yeah
My Mate VINCE you can come and sort my internet signal drop out red light orange lights flashing internet disconnects it's self EE bright box1 BT open reach been out twice internet runs great for two days then back to the usual ie shit
is it not STC (Standard Telephone Cable PLC)
