Young Chicken Little (Zach Braff) throws his small town into panic by claiming the sky is falling. Unable to find the piece of "sky" that hit him, he earns the town's scorn. A year later, outcast Little tries to redeem himself by joining the baseball team, helping to win a crucial game. I think we all have that guilty pleasure movie that we consider a guilty pleasure at all because we loved it as a kid, and then grew up to realize that it's objectively not that great, but still choose to love it anyways because nostalgia. So anyways, how bout Chicken Little?

Buck Cluck is the Worst parent in a Disney film!
Also learning the history behind the making of the film is fascinating as originally they were going to do s story on Henny Penny not Chicken Little and she would be overreactive, but have a loving mother along with a father doing his best.
She goes to summer camp with her friends where the counselors are eaten by wolves and take the place of those running the camp intending to fatten up the campers to eat with Henny and her friends needed to save the day.
Buck also, had his actions called out in one of the scenes in the original story. So while you can understand his anger, he was still wrong to insult his own daughter, and apologizes for it later that same day.
This is definitely an underrated Disney movie. The actor that plays Chicken Little in this movie, Zach Braff was starting to gain some popularity since this released around the same time he was starring in the TV Show Scrubs. Even the advertising for this movie was pretty good with the tagline being “This time, the sky really is falling”. Since this movie is starting to gain a little more popularity each day, it actually starts to become a better movie.
Plus the Cheetah Girls music video that repeatedly played on Disney Channel
And now he’s in the T-Mobile commercials.
I don't hate Buck as a Character. He's not a Perfect Father but at least he loves his son. At least he has compassion and love in his heart. I never see his actions as any sort of Malice. Dude literally lost his wife and is raising a kid. How do people think a parent like that is supposed to react? I give Buck credit because he's just trying to be a father. As for the outlandish claims, Yeah, I don't necessarily blame him for not believing him on those. We the audience know but not the other characters. It makes sense. Even if he doesn't believe the claims, He doesn't just disown Chicken Little, He tries to show support.
I think its cuz Buck literally treats Chicken Little as an embarrassment. Look at how he tries to hide himself as that one guy says "he's gonna lose the game for us!" And "why him, why now!?"

Looking back, I felt bad for Chicken Little as a kid. I mean, his own father Buck decided to ignore his own son's well-being in favor of his own reputation and only comes around after he's done something that he can benefit his public image with.

Fun Fact: Chicken Little himself was actually supposed to be a girl at first and Abby Mallard was originally supposed to be a boy at first.
In September 2001, director Mark Dindal developed the idea for Chicken Little, with its title character envisioned as a paranoid female chicken voiced by Holly Hunter . He would later pitch his idea to Disney CEO Michael Eisner who suggested it would be better to change Chicken Little into a male because as Dindal recalled, "if you're a boy and you're short, you get picked on." However, Dindal later clarified that the decision was made, in part, due to market research at the time.
When originally envisioned as a female character, Holly Hunter provided the voice for the title character for eight months, until it was decided for Chicken Little to be a male. Michael J. Fox, Matthew Broderick and David Spade were originally considered for the role. Against forty actors competing for the role of Chicken Little, Zach Braff auditioned where Dindal noted he "pitched his voice slightly to sound like a junior high kid. Right there, that was really unique - and then he had such great energy. Braff was officially cast in the role
Also in April 2002, Variety Magazine reported that Sean Hayes was to voice a character named the Ugly Duckling, but the character was changed into a female.
Now conceived as Abby Mallard, Holly Hunter, Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jodie Foster, Geena Davis, and Madonna were considered, but Joan Cusack (The voice of Jessie from Toy Story) was cast for her natural comedy.
The entire cast was officially announced in December 2003

@@WULDORI The difference being Triton had a blind ignorance against human things and the fact he just learned not only did his daughter save a human, but is in love with him. The destruction was more out of rage of the moment and later on when we see him again you see how upset he his that he drove her away when they can't find her.
Whereas as Buck has no redeemable qualities or moments that show he was wrong.
This three fathers did something really bad to their child. Two of them redeemed themselves at the end.
1. King Triton: Destruction of child's collection/properties.
2. Buck Cluck: Neglectful of their own child.
3. Claude Frollo: Manipulation of their adopted child.
I love how the pig guy said “ Darth Vader is Luke’s father?” Shows they know what they’re doing in terms of fourth wall breaks😂😂😂😂😂

The one thing that sticks out about this movie is that it was Don Knotts' last film appearance
Back when I was little,I used to get my mom to put this movie every morning before school. Also Finding Nemo and Lilo And Stitch. The soundtrack is so good. And yes,this is how I discovered these songs. My childhood friend loved watching this movie because of the karaoke scene.
Fun fact: I was once the last survivor on dodgeball. What i'm disappointed is that many people hate on this movie for no reason at all. Not just that,but they claim that the dad is a jerk. They don't even understand just how much the dad is just trying to do his best.

Man, this movie is pure childhood nostalgia for me because as a kid, I love watching this non-stop about how crazy the plot line is and now that I’m thinking about it, this is the film that introduced me to the song “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. Now that I’m older, there are a few things that I can relate to Chicken Little. During my school years, I too was that one kid who never fit in with my other classmates, due to my timid nature and having interests that are far different from the rest. However, as time went on, I’ve learned that fitting in is overrated because if you’re like everyone else, how are you special in your own way? Therefore, I spend doing most things on my own since I was more focused and open-minded to the world around me. The one thing that I admire from him is that because of his determination and courage to prove his worth, he was able to overcome the obstacles that prevented him from doing great things, big or small. The message I get from this movie is this: no matter what happens, don’t let anything stop you or let anyone tell you otherwise and always believe in yourself.
I know some people hate this movie but i like this movie, both as a kid and adult. I feel bad for Chicken Little becuase everyone treat him as "the boy who call wolf", i understand how it feel like that nobody believe in your story, even though it the truth. I love how the plot twist that his story turn out to be true and rather then follow the cliche of hide the piece to keep his popularity, he actually try to prove it a truth. At least, he have his friend believe his crazy story....
Though I see why people say Buck is the worst Disney parent, they gotta keep in mind, it’s not like Buck knew he was being a terrible parent. All it took for him to acknowledge it was Chicken Little standing up to him and calling him out for it, which in turn made Buck realize it and apologize to his son. Plus, during the apology, he tells Chicken Little “I love you”.
I say the crown for worst Disney parents go to Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lady Tremaine from Cinderella and The Evil Queen from Snow White cause at least they were aware of they’re cruel intentions and just chose to do evil.

I was 13 when Chicken Little came out. It's always fun to watch. Adam West. The OG batman before Val Kilmer and the others. Decades after he hung up his cowl he became a voice actor. He actually did a episode of batman the animated series called The Gray ghost. I loved his scene in chicken little. It made me laugh. I'm with you guys, CL better get his percentage of the movie royalties.

My major issue with this movie isn’t the dad, it’s the ending for Foxy. They literally rewrote her entire personality and then act like it’s fine bc now she’s... Runt’s dream girl?? That’s horrible. Like she was an awful person but you can’t just brainwash her into being “the perfect girl” that’s so creepy and honestly sexist af
I don't agree with the take of "redemption" being good.
1.) He didn't stand by his son or protect him from the vile townsfolk. He even bad mouthed Chicken Little.
2.) He didn't try to stop the movie. You know by LAW movies centered around minors need the permission of a parent?? (Unless laws are different in theirs)
3.) He did tell his son to basically disappear and become a wallflower instead of standing up for himself or trying to cheer him up.
4.) He never allows his son to speak up at the office, cutting him off with a snap, nor does he put the principle in his place for talking that way about his son.
5.) He rolls his eyes and sighs as soon as Chicken Little tries to speak to him in the car.
6.) He instantly shoots his son down when Chicken Little wants to obviously bond with him about baseball. But is MORE concerned with preserving his OWN legacy.
7.) You can see several instances where he pushes Chicken Little away but the sad scene when they walk in the house you can FEEL the rift.
8.) He acknowledges he isn't doing well when talking to the picture of his departed wife, but then... Doesn't go check on his son despite what he did in the car or at school??
9.) He was griping and groaning with all of the other town folks when Chicken Little was called up and again when he missed his swings.
10.) He instantly switched up and began taking credit of him being his son when Chicken Little won the game.
11.) When Chicken Little brought up closure his Father asked why they needed any, which in turn made Chicken Little backpedal because he was desperate for the love and attention his Father was giving.
12.) As SOON as he could Buck reverted back into discrediting his son and siding with the discrimination of the Townsfolk. If he is THAT wishy washy? When is the next time he is going to turn on him??
13.) When they get home he leaves Chicken Little ALONE in his back yard with 0 intention to check on him. Instead he was too busy trying to save HIS reputation by placating the townsfolk he was consistently siding with.
14.) When the aliens were coming down he once AGAIN wasn't listening to Chicken Little's words while acknowledging he had been right about the aliens.
15.) Even when he caught up to him it took Chicken Little yelling at him for him to finally listen.
16.) All the "good" moments afterward felt more like an overcompensation than a true "redemption" as it felt very performative.
17.) He even said he was an expert on bad parenting to the alien parents when calling the aliens out for leaving their kid.
18.) The scene at the end of the movie in the theater where he held Chicken Little up was JUST like he acted at the Big Game. Once again praising him when it looks good.
Chicken Little needs therapy. LOTS of it. Buck needs parenting classes. LOTS of them.
So I 100% am of the opinion Buck Cluck is the WORST Dad in Disney.

I’ll freely admit, this movie had a lot of stuff that could definitely have been better handled/executed (Buck Cluck in particular being chief among them), and it’s still 100% on the bottom of my rankings of the Disney Animated Canon movies. But even so, I see no shame in viewing it as a nice guilty pleasure. And fun fact, chickens CAN in fact fly (albeit, in a limited capacity).

PLEASE REACT TO "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON"! It's a story about a strong, beautiful horse with a spirit that can never be broken. I cry every time I watch it! It's a INCREDIBLE film, and the songs are so cool! But it's not a musical and the animals can't talk. 😭💔🔥
For just committing a little mistake, Chicken Little becomes the laughingstock of the whole town and gets bullied and shunned for a whole year. Many teenage bullying victims may have suffered similar things, but with even his own father distancing from him and given no compassion by both children and adults, it's such a miracle that he never thought about... 😢 (I can't even say that word in the commects)
