I said it to NameIsTaylor and I’ll say it to you: the best weapon in the game for mactera is PGL with proximity trigger. It sounds lame but it’s an OG for a reason.
Because of the way fear works (look it up if you’re interested), PGL grenades will scare away mactera every time, without fail.
Also if you take the fire mod, the fire damage ALWAYS kills them even if they only get scratched by the explosion. (And they can’t shoot at you while burning because of the fear!) This also works on grunts.
Me when I learn mactera are weak to explosions, so the hurricane slaughters them

Pump action might not have been the best weapon, but I’m blaming the fails on lachy
It doesn't help that he hasn't picked both of the rate of fire mods on it either, it's horribly slow without them...
i dunno whats good for mactera though
@@DrDevvi they have a weakness to fire, instantly die when frozen and no resistances to stun or fear. So mass crowd control options are great. And weapons with bonuses to weak point damage are also good (like executioner lok-1) but you end up killing them one by one with those.

I've noticed that you were having difficulty dealing with the macteras with the breach cutter, a good counter for them is the triple lane upgrade, the roll control overclock and plasma trail upgrade, it quickly kills them.
Also, the field medic perk is VERY useful, specially when paired with iron will

Im wondering if its time with these haz5 missions or even the occasional modded difficulty mission to swap off the shredders since they can only do a fixed amount of damage before they die, in these larger swarm missions its probably better to try the plasma bursters or the proximity mines to help with swarm control; i wouldnt bet on lures surviving long enough to be 'useful'
yeah possibly. I still really like shredders though. even if you miss they still work, maybe thats just me though
@@DrDevvi oh I absolutely understand the love of the shredders being a 'toss and forget' grenade that helps, its just as you hit the swarm size + difficulty threshold they really start falling behind as they just cant keep up and do more than scratch a swarm before hitting their allowed damage output and falling to the ground
