Arrma Big Rock Metal Input Gear on Plastic Crown Gear? Good or Bad...

  • Well the big rock broke so the big question is, will this hold up better than the all round plastic diff?
The 13 teeth plastic input gear can't hold up to the heat and overall torque, I've already lost one in the Typhon running a Max10 ESC the Big Rock has a Max8 🤯
Also is the quality of the metal input gears upto standard, have a look and tell me what you think in the comments.
Thanks for watching and as always, CATCH YOU IN THE NEXT ONE!

I think shock load upon landing a jump got the best of the plastic pinion. It shouldn't happen again now. Wait and send, I guess? Top job man. Keep it up.

Yeah I have have it some hell at the hate park ect maybe it was time, funny how it went though 😂
Yes let's see if this madness will last longer than stock set up.

My thinking... ring gear much harder to replace. Am going to try metal ring gears with plastic inputs. Yes the inputs will wear but the ring gear should last FOREVER. Just keep a stash of inputs, they are fairly easy to change.

I imagine the metal input will eventually eat the diff gear but it's held up so far.
Metal yokes are the ideal thing so I've heard.

To be honest I think that's the best way to do it! It's the input gear that fails not the crown gear. And if ya think about it, your pinion is metal and ya spur is plastic and they're ok, infact I'm still on my original spur gear! 😳 And you know I've had my big rock for a while now, everything else in the drivetrain has failed apart from the plastic spur. So if your new metal input gear lasts (which it will) then maybe your crown gear will last a lot longer too! That's a winner I think pal 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Couldn't agree more mate, that's why I think there's a method to this madness but I could be wrong.
However plastic spur takes a beating of the pinion like you say so even the main diff should last longer.
Proof is in the pudding bro

These are the shims I bought 0.5 wider than stock runs better on the inner race and doesn't touch the outer.

Hoi! I've only had three runs on the Typhon, still need to check the mesh but all seems good 👍

    • @peetster

    • @mehimrc1314
      @mehimrc1314  Рік тому +2

Yeah it seems to be holding up fine, the plastic input gear was the main issue for heat build up.
