  • The Singer De Luxe Library Table No. 40 was one of the first tables designed to be used with an electric sewing machine. They were available in two styles, the standard tapered legged version and the Queen Anne style. Both had a matching stool available.
The tables had a built in knee lever to operate the machine, which many people find easier to use than the standard foot pedal.

I've just acquired the Queen Anne version (yesterday), no machine and missing electric components. Thanks for this video. My research last night produced nothing and this helped a lot. Now I can look for parts.👍

I have both of those. The Queen Anne is from 1940 and holds my 201-2. The other has a 15-91 from the 50s, although the table is clearly earlier. The knee lever is a game changer and I want all my electric machines to have one now.

They are a game changer aren't they? And such a neat, compact table.

I have both tables and 2 Singer 201k's (both circa 1951). I love, love, loooove this machine & table. I bought them this summer. One table I refinished and painted white on the bottom bits & black on the table top, and the one w the curved legs I left as is. Sooo much easier to sew like this...flat bed and a knee lever. I'm so glad I found them and added them to my sewing room/collection. I like it better than my $1,500.00 Janome QDC-100 🤣 🇨🇦

I started sewing in the seventies with a knee lever and I am glad to have one again. They’re the best!

I have the straight leg version for my 15-91 with the 75-25 top. Like other posters, I love the knee control, I'd have one for each of my machines if space allowed.Great content as usual. Merry Christmas B-Spoke!

I had a simger 101 from 1921 in the 50/50 split number 40 cabinet with the straigh tapered legs , but ot also had supports running in kind of a H patteren between the legs. Also the main electrical cprs ran through one leg to the bottom ( back right when sitting at the machine) did not realize how unique it was until quite recently. I talked to the person a gave it too amd explained to her that she could will it back to me since she doesn't have any family. She agreed, but i also get the cats.

I don't think we got the 101s here in the UK. That cabinet sounds very unique! Glad to hear you'll inherit it back - not sure about the cats though. More of a dog person!

@@CurioByBSpokeDesigns me too about tha dogs, but a small price to pay for that. Yeah all I know about the 101 was it was the first completely electric dependant machine. Had the potted motor, that interestingly enough could be switched between AC/ DC by simply swapping wires. Still at the time it was a toss up as to what system would power the world. Edisons DC or Teslas AC....tesla won out.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. I have neuropathy in my feet and need knee control. My mom had one when I was growing up.

Super interesting video. I’m in the market for two Singer cabinets-one for a 201 and another for a 500. I like the no. 40 with straight legs.

Greetings and Happy 2024! I just found your video when searching for a power cord for my Singer 101. It was my grandmother's and came in the No. 40 Library Table, similar to the straight-leg one you've shown here. It's an earlier model (I think the first), with 3 doors in front covering a drawer (left), a center opening to see the machine, and (on the right) a little shelf holding an original oil can. I have the original manual for the sewing machine, some parts, and another manual. My grandmother took good care of her things, and I was thrilled she let me have this treasure before she died. One of the items in the drawer is a cord that divides into 2 parts, each to connect to the machine, on one end, and the (missing) power cord on the other. Can you point me to some reliable resources to find the correct power cord? By the way, you've beautifully renovated the machine and table! They're stunning now! Mine are dusty but still lovely. Thank you!

The 101 was never sold here in the UK. If you are on Facebook, there’s groups for Singer 101s, I’m sure someone there would be able to help. I’m glad you enjoyed the video!

🎄 Merry Christmas! 🎄 What a coincidence, I recently bought an immaculate Queen Anne, which is the most beautiful sewing machine table I have ever seen. I didn't know that there was a matching stool - I must look out for one. It came with a 466 Stylist from the original owner. I'll repair the sewing machine in the new year and possibly replace it with a more fitting black one. I was thinking of a 201k (steel), but I think that they have a short bed. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks. 👍

The 201 has the same sized base as the 15 or 66 and will fit in a standard No 40 table. My Queen Anne table came with, and currently houses, a 201.
