I wanna be as cool as Bill when I grow up.
Me too and I'm older than Bill...
Just don’t grow up - then you can be …
This has to be the coolest guitar channel on YT.
Word to your mother
Great to see you back out in the forest, Bill. And...that spring reverb. A real spring with optical sensors that you can kick for extra resonance. Now that is cool.
Pretty dang epic, Bill! Love it.
Suspenseful atmosphere. Beautiful guitar.
Your videos have the same effect on me that the show The Office does, it acts as sort of a security blanket or something. Any time I’m feeling like the world is too insane I can throw on one of your videos and relax. Thank you!
Pedals of Orion 👏
Ohhh 3 seconds in and I love this already.
Sounds like the sequel to Eyes Wide Shut and I'm all for it
Gotta love that Bill "Signature" Mustang
I can see the fairies behind that tree, Mr. Orion!
Thanks Bill! just watched a Muntjac deer family having an evening meal of Ivy before bed to this beauty. Absolute Magic Sir, thank you again!
Great video dear friend, again very inspiring. Greetings and I wish you a beautiful weekend before our midnight. Pavel CZ.👍👍👍
You have the coolest of stuff Bill.
Excellent performance!!!
Damn, sounds just like Discipline era King Crimson
Ancient Forest Ritual music..yeah!!!
Brilliant as always
Awesome video, I love the in the woods idea. Great soundscape!🤙
Funny I was just thinking how much I miss your forest videos!
Love it!
Power by Wood Gnomes...
Bro is literally living my dream 😭😭
Cool. You should go back at night, or twilight, and do a video with some blue and pink lights strewn about the forest
I have thought about that! Need more camera/light gear to pull it off...
@@chordsoforion You're awesome! Thanks for replying!
I love the sound of a weird reverb into a delay
my wife and i enjoy making music remote too . we built a 600 watt class d battery powered pa system that runs off a 48 volt e-bike li ion cell . nothing like making music outdoors . thats such a cool mustang there and your reverb is unique .
Sounds like a cool PA!
That was awesome! Perfect ambient tension for TV! Definitely hear that behind a serial killer crime drama. Maybe not what you had in mind peacefully playing in the woods 😂
Nice shoe choice.
Gear question. What kind of shoes are those?
Lems. :-)
I could only imagine what was going through the heads if all the nearby animals when they heard this.
Be cool if it functioned as a bug zapper, although we do need our native species. :)
ooooo…..wouldn’t that be cool at night, under a full moon, in the forest.
Very nice! I’ve been seriously considering one of these! What are you using for the drone under your beautiful playing?
The drone is provided by the TC Electronic Infinite Sustainer.
I bet the trees were sayin’ “whut?”
While the animals rolled their eyes.
Probably true!! :-)
I bet the squirrels went nuts!!
I see what you did there. :-)
Love the way those springs thunder lively behind the soundscape; has anyone set one atop a loud amp yet? Could be quite interactive.
I have not tried, but I think it would create an interesting underlying rumble that would follow along with that you are playing,
As usual, another great video.... How are we hearing this ? Is the Strymon or another pedal hooked to a speaker ? Love that you got your Mustang up and running !
I ran the output of the board into a Zoom H4N, and had a little speaker connected to monitor the sound. Wish I could have had large PA speakers, but did not have enough power. Maybe next time!
Aaaah, never thought about the fact you might be using a field recorder that also runs on batteries. Thanks much Bill ! p.s...never thought about buying an electric baritone until I discovered your channel ...now I want to add an acoustic baritone to the string collection❤@@chordsoforion
Goddamn that's cool
Apart from our love of REVERBS and delays....how do you use the electronic devices in the woods? Is there a power station near you just plug-in? Or a silent power-unit? Ah you could use the battery from the car...
For this one, I did have a power station to plug everything into. You can see it in the lower righthand corner.
I know that you may have covered this before but, what do you use for power when you go to remote places. Do you have a back pack to carry the equipment or some sort of cart? Beautiful as always!
I have a few different methods: 1) battery powered pedals, 2) long extension cord from my car's AC outlet to power the pedalboard, 3) battery powered pedalboard power supply and this one 4) Bluetti power charger. I generally drive up a forest fire road and park near a good spot to play so I don't have to carry the gear too far.
@@chordsoforion Thank you for the explanation. It makes sense now. It really adds to the ambient sound to play in those environments. I'm sure it is inspirational to you also.
Bill, can you remind me what is your favourite and most inspiring acoustic guitarist? You told about him few times ago but unfortunately I forgot his name
There are a bunch, but I suspect you might be referring to Michael Hedges or perhaps Martin Simpson.
The pitch-shifting is from the Brainwaves, right? Very cool.
Yep!!
i'm allowing myself to say this, only because it does sound beautiful.. i would improve the "production" itself. the stereo image feels a bit scattered and out of phase. i would record the parts, and then reamp the sound into 2 amps in an actual room, and have a stereo matched pair to capture it. it would sound much more real and "close". Digital reverbs have some trouble creating real depth, and in the process they create phase cancellations, and add digital noise that smears the soundscape.
Reamping is definitely an awesome technique to capture great sounding amps and room, but in this case there is no digital reverb - just the Light Pedal, which is analog. You are likely hearing the stereo imaging coming from the El Capistan delay pedal, which is connected in stereo after the Light Pedal.

Power these pedals out in the Forest?
How do you do it? Are they 9volt or battery powered?
I had the pedalboard connected to a Buetta portable power source. You can see in the lower right hand corner of the video.
