It's weird that there's haters on this pedal. I actually thought it wasn't even worth looking into for some reason. I went ahead and researched through over 20 different synth pedals and kept ignoring it. Then I realized this was the damn pedal I was looking for LOL has the exact synth sounds the others didn't implement and it does track decently!
@@robertmcmillan3638 I would get the 200, had I known how great the tracking and fx would be. I got it to fill spaces in a band that had a lot of reggae covers. I could get a skanky organ pump going, or get nice polyphonic sounds, for more dub stuff, and really ended up finding many uses for other genres quickly. The bigger one, that came out at the same time, can do a lot more, and as a studio tool, or gigging. With a good looper, I can get an entire band sound, that works very well, with just the SY-1. A multi track looper, and I can play parts to cover songs in unique ways, that folks enjoy, just with the SY-1. The bass tracks good enough, I add little things, to add to the tricks one can do with the guitar to make a beat. Then, it’s just adding the parts, and playing along, after I build the songs. I think it’s well worth $150 used, but they can be acquired for $115-130, if one just offers it, or looks for a couple weeks.
Why is everyone is saying this is horrible? It’s a pedal and to me it sets out to do what it says on the front of it and sounds fine on its own. Also they have those little knob things that let you, you know, adjust the sound, oh and they also make countless other pedals, ones they’ve been making for over 50 years and when you pair them together, they make even more sounds! Seriously you people need to be more open minded. I could sit here and say Fuzz Faces suck and Jimi Hendrix is the only reason they are popular, but just like any other effect out there, it’s got a place somewhere in the mix of effects. Fuzz faces aren’t my personal taste but I won’t say they suck or sound terrible.
Ok, ok, I'm getting one. I actually like the broken up sound it makes by way of what people refer to as sh%^=t tracking. Also, lovely chord progression!
@@AGTR98 You really must’ve never played one in person. There are very hi fi sounding fx. It depends on how one disks it in. It sounded as good as a $3000 keyboard, that the band I was gigging with a couple years ago had. Not all fx were equal, but when the guitar signal is barely there, it sounds like a nice keyboard. I used it gigging, for half a year, and people always asked how I was getting organ sounds, with my guitar. It worked very well for reggae songs, snd I eventually figured out how to use it for any genre. I’ve tried a little of the EHX series of Organ, Bass, etc. pedals, like the Mel9, and though some have a bit better digital effect for some things, some have been lesser or the same, as the SY-1. It really depends what one wants to do with it.
Y’all honestly think the S9 sounds better? I never directly a/ b ‘ed them but I was not nearly as impressed with the S9. Also 9 sounds compared to 121.. yowza. Same with the EHX B9 and C9… the SY -1 has 11 organ sounds included. Source Audio C4 kills all of them but you must be tech savve, I am not.
I remember when synthesizers first became big. No one respected them. Now it's the normal go-to in most music today.
