Nice video man, love the trails your on, i ride a yz250x and i wanted to check out the 4t version, your bike seems great! Im not looking to change, just seeing whats out there and i like seeing reviews of other bikes
I am curious….. with the new updates to the Yamaha WR 250f, has anyone thought of that bike as a single track machine over the fx ? Pros and cons ? Anyone riding the new 2022 WR ?
I’ve seen a few videos of the new wr’s and they seem to be a good bike also. The FX is far more aggressive and powerful than the wr though. Its cheaper to make an FX into a WR than Vice a versa.
@@Captain250FX True, as for the WR in Nth America we would have to get the CCU/Programable ECU and map button. Thats like an extra $900CAD in Canada. For the FX ,does it have enough juice to power a headlight though?
@@Captain250FX Oh nice. I will check out your other videos. Perhaps theres a video on how the wiring is done. I'm on a WR right now, but the FX could be the next bike, so wanted to see what I can do... I like the light for safety on our busy trails,
@@Captain250FX gonna chime in here. I bought the 2022 wr450f. As it comes with the WR transmission (Wide Ratio - which they also state have stronger gears than the F - FX) not sure about the WR250f tranny though.. also comes with a fan, high output stator, trip meter/ speedometer/ fuel consumption reader, and lights. It doesn’t come with the competition ecu however… so if you want the full potential from the motor, you need to “uncork” the bike and install the GYTR ECU - $200. I also bought the map switch - $100 and this gives you the “mild or wild” option. I don’t have the WI-FI module as it was another $450. Also comes with a spark arrestor which is required in many places.. so if you bought an FX you’d have to buy and install a pipe, lights, and fan kit to compare to a WR, or buy a WR and uncork it for $300. HOWEVER, fair warning, you pretty much have to uncork a WR, it’s not even funny… my corked WR450F was like a somewhat torquey 250f, but kinda unresponsive with pretty much zero top end… power went flat in the mid range.. a 250fx would blow the doors off of a corked WR450F… however now that it’s uncorked it’s a full blown 450f, it’s insane.. I drive in the “mild” map all day 😂
Oh ya! My last FX was a 2018 and in 2020 they redesigned the bike from the ground up, frame, mapping etc etc. This new one is definitely faster and more nimble!
What did you have to do for a spark arrestor on your bike? I just put a deposit on the same bike, but it doesn’t sound like it has a spark arrestor from the factory??? I was looking at a Fisch Moto universal insert unit.
Actually one of the few changes that were made to the 22 from the 21 was the exhaust. When I first purchased the bike I couldn’t find anything, now they are available but I’ve just stuck with the stock exhaust and put that money elsewhere.
I traded my new problematic 22 te150i in on a new *22 yz250fx today. I was disappointed to discover the Yamaha dealer had to swap out the tank assembly from another fx to get the new 250fx to run properly before it left the dealership. I feel like the idle sounds funny, like half missing. Is this due to the long headpipe?
What gear are you riding in most this video 2nd? I'm looking at making the switch back to Yamaha and not sure if I would like the 250fx being i've only ever ridden 450s and 250 two strokes. Do you ever have to use 1st gear?
This trail is all 3rd gear with some 4th sprinkled in! The 250fx transmission is my favorite part about this bike, pulls 3rd in almost all trails. Occasionally I use 1st if I’m in a nasty situation. 1st comes in handy when you really need it.
@@Captain250FX I'm currently on a 2019 Husqvarna FE 350 and I really like it the power is great from the bottom to top but the cost of ownership is just more then I like lol. Thanks for your info I appreciate it
@@Captain250FX Ya the suspension is way better then the wp that came on my Husky I have race tech internals now but before I got them racing was really tough anything medium to fast speeds were really sketchy. I'm just debating on if I want the 250 or the 450 I will really like the power and I'm usually just racing not much single track. My buddy has a 250fx and he loves it maybe I just need to ask him to ride it a bit before I make a decision. Either way you can't go wrong with a Yamahammer lmao.
think you said the guy in front of you is on a 21fx and he has the exhaust you want but they don't make it for the 22 yet. isn't that basically the same bike as far as exhaust is considered or did they change something?
@@Captain250FX oh!! I didnt know they changed that as well for the 2022 model. I did hear something about the rear wheel ? possibily spoke pattern? or is that the 250F ? Assume other than the spokes you can still use wheels from the 2020/21 bikes?
That new Yamaha makes you look as if you know what you are doing!! Now you need to bring the magic to South Dakota and ride and then venture into Washington state and ride in Bigfoot Country!!☠️💥👁👀👣
Sweet vid and great riding man!

The 6 speed makes all the difference, especially on a 250 f . The Yamaha is a blast to ride and is super reliable
Yes it sure does make a difference and thanks for watching!
Looks frickin' awesome!
Thanks Andrew!
Looked like a lot of fun my friend! Also your bike is so sweet👍🔥💪

Paul's a great dude to ride with!
He sure is!
Funny I just orderd mine it will be here in April or may! And my nick name is SLAYER and it is on my YZ125X. I just ordered my graphics for it!

The Fisch Moto is what I bought. Eventually I’ll get an exhaust with a arrestor in it when they become available.
im pretty sure any exhaust that fits a 2020, 2021 yz250f or fx will fit your 2022. i dont think any changes have been made in that time
