@@hollyhayes9640 Yes I know, I miss my baby girls and they became potty trained in their first week home. I agree with you that their lives are too short, anyway I will certainly repeat but at my current place vets are not familiar with them and it is important for me to have a vet I can trust.

I used to have a rat. His name was Robert The Rat (like Kermit The Frog). He was the best little guy. I weeped when he died of old age. He was very friendly to all and liked to snuggle. His favorite treat was Life cereal and he liked pieces of freah vegetable trimmings. That was about 40 years ago. I will never forget Robert.
literally ANY rat video I see that shows a rat happy, safe and healthy makes my day. They are intelligent, underrated, innocent, sweet creatures. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to experience rats themselves to know how amazing they truly are. This video here is a perfect example!

The only solution to rattie heartbreak is...MORE ratties. When I ran into this problem after being owned by about 15 rats, I wanted to get round the age thing. So I went for a Gambian Pouched rat (more closely related to hamsters than rats). Poppy is now 3 years old (and could live up to 8 but more likely 6). Although there are certain superficial similarities, pouchies are a different thing altogether but I don't know what I'd do without her. However...there is still a fancy shaped hole in my heart

New pet rat owner. Found out that rats taste and smell everything. Very rarely bite, just lick a lot. Realized this when Romeo & Remi constantly kept on licking my fingers 😆 it's so cute but scary b/c I thought they were setting me up to get bit. LoL 🤣 rats & flying squirrels/squirrels tend to lick more than bite and mice, hamsters & gerbils tend to bite the handler/feeder. (Yeah, I thought, What?) But it's true ☺️💕 Flying squirrels have to eats sugar so they can stay alive so I can get why it tastes everything. A regular squirrel ( if handled by humans) will BOND with that ONE HUMAN & Love that ONE HUMAN. Bite EVERYONE & EVERY FURBABY AROUND but Loves their ONE HUMAN. LOL 🤪🐿️💗
Never understood how people could be afraid of rats and/or mice. I think they're quite cute. The only reason I haven't bought a couple of them is their short life span. Losing pets always leaves me distraught.
I love rats I have a rat called Blossom witch is a girl and she had a friend but he was a boy but we didn’t know, thank you this helps me not be worried about him because we took him back to the store
i have probably destroyed over 1000 rats in my life in all ways, but i own 5. it is sad i still got to take out the ones in the area while mine rest comfortably. amazing animals but they are dangerous when they are wild and breaking into homes.

Matt I understand we lost 2 brothers rats scabbers and scamp big boys age 3 last year Al my rats miss them .they was different could get out of cage not escape and lay on me or my shudder and love morning and night cuddles
What would you do if you had wild rats that chewed their way from unused basement to you apt? Would you kill them? I had cats for years and they died of old age. No rats or mice, now bc apt is right over basement, they have chewed their way in. I don't want to kill them, I had a pet rat as a kid. What do I do?

You could find someone to capture and relocate, or use humane traps and relocate them yourself
