I could never have any rats, their lifespan is too short for me to handle. Props to everyone braving multiple heartbreaks just to share love with these guys
Rats are the best pets ever, you tell yourself you’ll never get over the heartbreak and yet you can’t resist loving some all over again. 💗
It is heart breaking at first but after a while you realise that they pass over comfortable and knowing they were loved 💕
My family had eleven. I really liked them but I cried every time one of them died. It just got too much in the end so we stopped keeping rats. They are really lovely animals but you are right, their lifespan is too short.
yes, it is difficult to say goodbye so often. But their tiny lives bring so much to yours (and hopefully it's true for them as well) that it's worth it. Everyday my rats make my day better. I've had to say goodbye many times and it is never easy. But always worth the time I get to spend with each of the little fuzzbutts.
Everytime one goes away, a new one shows up in the cage. Its heartbreaking, but look at that beautiful life they get, instead of roaming the streets. They love you more than you could ever love them

same. fiance and i had 2 rats and after they passed we just havent wanted to get anymore because we cant handle the heartbreak all over again. we loved our rats so much, they were both the sweetest little things & even loved to cuddle with our cats & dog. our girl loved to sleep in sweater hoods all the time

when i was a teen my brother's girlfriend got two rats and we rat-sitted them while they went on vacation. even though she loves animals my mom at first was not super hyped about having rats at home. then after the first day i come home from school and my mom is all excited 'DID YOU SEE THEIR HANDS????' she had given them some cucumber and for the first time properly watched them eat and she was mesmerized for days. hahaha...
also i'll never forget the lovely tickle when a rat gives you rat kisses/licks.

Mine did too, we gave them slices of broccoli stalks and when we came back there were little rings where they'd eaten all the middles and left the outside XD

This is adorable! My rats would never do this... they're so picky with their food sometimes, they are much happy running around causing havoc than sitting in one place trying new foods! lol

Horse gender doesn't say everything, my boy Buffy has way more energy than any girl rat I've had. he can run around my room and knock vases of high shelfs for hours
Humbug: “Bah, Humbug!” Perfect responses for each of the ratties, so cute. Some good treats as summer approaches and days get hotter (at least according to my babies): watermelon, frozen banana slices, cucumber (refreshing!), peaches, nectarines... and of course fishing for frozen veg. Love watching them holding things in their wee little hands as they eat! 😍

Fly Fantasy Maybe if you look at cute videos of rats, you can get over your fear of rats? Yeah, you can encounter them at creepy places and can scare you if they get inside your home uninvited, but really they are just like any other furry mammal, and they actually have more empathy than humans.
@@yYSilverFoxYy I did the same thing with my fear of sharks. Did some research about them and their behaviors, watched some videos. I'm not scared of them anymore. I do still have the fear of the ocean though, like sinking on a boat and the fact it can be like a bottomless pit. Just water miles under and no land in sight.

Fun fact: my Dad baked a tiny cake for one of my rats' birthdays once.
He also knitted a sweater for one of my hairless rats once (I'm from Canada; it's cold here).
One of my rats also developed hind limb degeneration, and he built him a tiny wheelchair.
We also had a wild rat once who'd been attacked by an owl, and he drove him 6 hours away to a wildlife rehab center. 🥰
