So here's the issue with using heavy armor to train martial arts. It lowers your effective level, so that when you land hits, you get more experience than you would be getting otherwise. However, if your level is too low, you're never going to get a hit off, and because of that you end up training a lot slower than you would otherwise. The toughness you got from that was great though. Drop the armor, get encumbered and fight. Your str, dex, and martial arts will skyrocket. (I know almost everything there is to know about this damn game)
If you know everything, then what does red bar on the health mean?
Also how does splitting injuries work?
Also other question is, is using sabers to train early on a good strat?
@@piotrdaniel3829 red bar is bleeding. your limbs condition will go down to however low the red bar goes to.
using sabers to train is kinda a what kind of person your training situation.
@@colemorrow5042 so it just red bar is the damage done just by the bleed proc alone? And with sabres I mean that when you're at lvl 1 is it faster to do dex and str seperatly or is it worth going with the sabre and do both at the same time
Edit: for example you do wakazashi first build up your dexterity and then do some heavy weapons or martial arts for strength or is Useing a sabre that gives both str and dex take as long as doing both of the above.

Tbf, a lot of professional fighters come out with brain damage later in life.
These Kenshi videos are top notch, keep up the amazing work!
The name of this video is heresy! You're breaking the only rule of fight club!
To be serious, I rather enjoy this little series.
It's the first and second rule
Tip (mainly because it seems you didn't know this):
When using the dark ui mod or any other ui mod, it tends to mess up your ui upon game start. Thats why you don't see your stats and such properly.
To fix this simply alt+tab to your desktop or shift+tab (when playing via steam) when you first start up the game, before you load your save.
There will be a flicker of the screen and you'll notice your main menu seems bigger and the fonts smaller. Should fix it right up.
Thanks for the vids though.
Thanks! I was wondering this! It might mess with my OBS setup when I alt-tab, which has been odd, but I'll be fiddling around with it - I appreciate it! :)
@@ambiguousamphibian if you're recording a window rather than a view, it shouldn't mess anything up, but I'd run a few tests to be safe if you're concerned
Wait his stats are not shown in the vid?
About the heavy armor. Yeah, you get faster experience that way, but I wonder if you could have fought stronger enemies if you used martial arts armor and gained faster xp that way since the stronger they are compared to you the faster you improve. And since weaker enemies travels in larger groups and keeps dodge lock you with massed attacks, perhaps you could have gained faster martial arts by fighting a stronger, but singular, enemy. But fun experiment anyway, and a great watch! Oh, and you should try and maybe at least get some martial arts bindings or some other armor that protects your fists, at least early on, as hitting metal armor and weapon blocks hurts your arm or leg, which is why you so often had trouble with your left leg. At high levels you don't take this damage.
Thinking of it, perhaps I would have gone another route with my training; ditch strength training and laboring in the beginning. Higher strenght means you would hit harder and kill your enemies faster (and faster martial arts attack too I believe, which would be useful true), meaning you would fight for shorter amounts of time and gain less xp. The labor gains you money that you strictly don't need as you could survive of looting enemies getting beaten up by the ninja guards. I would strictly focus on dexterity training with Katanas and get really good with it (after getting enough athletics to outrun enemies). Dexterity gives you faster block and dodge speed, meaning less chance of getting dodge locked and thus faster martial arts xp gain once you start training it (but I believe not faster attack speed sadly). Also, if memory serves me right dexterity also adds to martial arts damage. Then I would focus on fighting stronger enemies. Maybe steal their weapons and replace their armor with something softer at first, then when my levels get higher the best armor I can get to make them last longer. Then I would buy some real heavy stuff with stuff and fight with it to gain strength.
Thanks! :) Good calls Henrik - seconding that on the strength training - I'd say for me the main thing is to rush lv 30 MA now that I've seen what each stat does a bit more, to unlock that flying kick. All roads lead to Rome, though it might speed up the training considerably! I wonder what singular enemies would be good for fighting against early on
@@ambiguousamphibian Yeah, the flying kick seems pretty awesome!
You know, this could make for a pretty fun challenge for people to try out; how close can you get a guy in thirty days in vanilla kenshi to one punch man? Might try it out myself!
For single enemy, well, preferably something strong, slow and soft I am thinking so.... Leviathans? Haven't fought them much, but if you can avoid the attacks imagine you could keep smashing at them forever. Might be a bit too micro managy if you have to keep running away from attacks. I usually kidnap some high level enemies by training stealth and assassination, but it would take precious time away from training to get them up to where they are usable. Pluss, it could kinda ruin the world state for later maybe if you kidnap a faction leader. But... Maybe train up athletics, head over to the dust bandit tower and the Dust bandit leader to follow you back to Squin, have the guards knock him out and quickly loot his stuff pick him up. Then, for extra money you could cash in his bounty (accidentally did that the first time I played the game, and then I hired him and some other dust bandits by paying for their freedom). Then free him and kidnap him and start figthing him. Maybe set up a small staging area or arena if you will, just a circle of walls and a gate to fight him in. Our buy a house in some city and lock the doors. Maybe put up some camp beds to heal quicker. Then, thunderdome! As you progress you could kidnap more people and "store" them in the city jail.
25:13 nope, no enemies that knock you out heal you except for slavers and town guards (and they only heal you because you are a slave/prisoner respectively). You are healing yourself while playing dead thanks to the medic job, all the escaped servants and hungry bandits do is loot you for food :)
Btw, the armor and boots you have on is messing up your athletics, you will barely outrun anyone with it on on full health, much less so when your legs are injured.
It's incredible, as soon as it hit 30 in martial arts he became One Kick Man
The slave mongers and nomads probably were neutral npcs, you fighting them also probably counts as a crime therefore making you to be hated by the shinobis and the town.

I recommend getting Transparent UI. Works well with Dark UI and lets you see more of whats going on in background when you pull up the stats and whatnot.
The best stat grind in a game for me was in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Training with Bernard not only trained up Henry's skills but trained me as well.
Indeed. KCD is an amazing game, but you gotta Bern' up, otherwise you'll get your shit kicked in by everyone.
Oh man, I completely forgot about KCD stat grinds, but I've been itching to play it for years now. Maybe we'll soon get that chance again. Nice call survivalist!
@@ambiguousamphibian Thanks.
I love KC:D, but god damn is it a muscle memory grind to get that combat system etched into your brain.
Honestly I spent more time hunting than anything in that game. My first playthrough I got as far as the hunting trip in the main missions, and then went off and did my thing until I was able to buy some of the best shop equipment in the game just by selling the exploits of my constant hunting trips lol. Only then did I realize.. I still got my shit kicked in because I sucked at fighting.
"Cut my head off or something, not my leg"
You have great priorities.
Watching him get his ass beat by those 5 bandits until he got 30 Martial Arts mid-fight was like watching an anime protagonist unlock a new ability and win at the last second.
30 more days.
Just give him 30 more days and you'll probably reach MUCH greater heights.

The intro to this video has me absolutely beaming with how happy you are to just gain XP.
I've been watching your channel for a year or two now and I can pretty reliably depend that f you enjoy a game enough to make a series, I'll enjoy it enough to sink a few weeks into it and keep it installed.

Thanks Zak! Glad you enjoy the series, and I'm grateful for the kindness! :)
42:34 You sound so proud of him. ITS TOO WHOLESOME.
There is an amazing dodge mod. It simply add a side step to the animation to avoid that chain dodge glitch when facing multiple opponents. You won't regret it! Now that your stats are pretty high, you can swap that heavy armor for some martial artist wraps and lighter clothing. Oh, yee.
Man every time i see one of your kenshi videos in my feed i get so happy. Lets just say my life is not ideal even for the worst of us. But your videos just bring me a nice escape. Thank you so much for just being a fucking cool dude.
"But they're starving and don't have very strong weapons, so I need to fight them!" #WeirdReasons
3 year old video but for anyone who sees this - town guards will only fight enemies of the guards. These include things like bandits and any faction enemies that they might have. Seeing as the slavemongers and manhunters were not enemies of the guards, the guards did not fight them.
Leading people into town really only works against bandit and animal enemies.
I am from the future. That was useful. Take my future thanks.
This series is so hype. I really wanna see One Punch man with all his main stats up to 100
Oh hell yeah - me too - and soloing Tinfist

"Can you be good at something when my narrative calls for it?" Lmao.
There's a new dodge mod called dodge strafe that helps martial artists fight a little more aggressively by letting them dodge to the side. I would recommend it.
Balboa once said to up Toughness:
"But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."
When that hungry bandit joins in I thought you will be fighting two, but I was wrong both you just went 'fuck off' to that hungry bandit 😂
this is incredibly entertaining to watch lol.. 5-7 Kick man? pff you'll get him there
Haha, thanks Joshua! Grateful for your kindness :)
"You have your hand in the fireman!" -ambiguousamphibian 2020
This will sound strange, but being a slave in Kenshi is it’s world equivalent of joining a gym. You train so many skills as a slave: toughness from the constant beatings, lockpicking from your numerous escapes, fights from your captors, etc. Slavery is a great gig.
Haha, now that you say this, I've been hearing a lot of similar sentiments - might make for a good future run!
This is exactly why I use the 5x experience mod with no remorse.
Awesome montage! Can't wait until ten punch/kick man becomes one punch (changing to martial arts gear might do it). Great content!
He has a long way to go before he truly becomes One-Punch-Man. Sure, as of now he can probably one-punch Hungry Bandits with the right gear, but Saitama can one-punch basically anything. With how strong some of the foes in Kenshi get, he'll need to pump both strength and martial arts to their maximum. I hope this series continues, I'd love to see that character reach the height of his power.
I am really enjoying the series!
One thing I kept saying though, "don't disregard the strength training!"
One punch man's main characteristic is how strong he actually is. You should get the character to carry heavy items every now and then to increase his strength to about level 75 or 80. Then his attacks will become more powerful and deadly!
Others have already mentioned the dropping food items on the ground so NPC's can't loot it when/if they knock you down.
Another thing, going bald was one of the side effects of Saitama's training regiment. You were already enslaved, your character was, however briefly, discovered/seen as a escaped slave (baldness is a characteristic in kenshi). Get stronger please!
Looking forward to the next installment.

glad to see we have our priorities straight
When developing melee combat Kenshi forgot about counter attack. So you end up attacking or dodging.
"Punched a lot man"
Because toughness is your mainstat.
You talk about him more like he's your Tamagotchi than a representation of you in the game lol
the exitement of face kickin xD
Biggest problem with martial arts is that you damage your own limbs. You do get toughness for it though. Mercenary armour offers some fist protection so you can punch for longer. Best armour to train is Crab armour as it gives 100% fist protection and -10 to martial arts
At 28 days you defeating a crippled hungry bandit… well, we all have our low bars to cross….

I just wanted to let you know that this series and the torso experience series have been some of the best videos I've seen this year so far, can't wait to see where this series goes!
Aha, when he hit that level 30 martial arts threshold and started doing flying kicks really changed the tide!
Seven-to-ten-punch-and-kick-man is the strongest in the world!
"Consecutive normal punches."
"He might be able to one-shot everything soon... we just have to attack these goats." haha
My favorite part is at 45:58 when saitama is soloing a whole squad and the final bandit goes "AAA please, i stand no chance against all of you!"
'ey look it's Ambiguousamphibian the Overconfident.
It took me a while to realize why heavy armor increases stat gains.
The way leveling up must work is that it considers your current skill level AFTER modifiers, so, the heavy armor did -11 martial arts, so until he reaches 12th, he'll be leveling martial arts as if he had level 0.
You got stronger at exactly 30 martial arts. I think this is when he started kick around like crazy 42:55
Now that I think about it, Kenshi is basically the Fight Club game we didn't know we wanted. Get beat up, beat people up, gather a gang to perform acts of terrorisms against the established governments.
These series are great. I believe these are absolutely underrated.

I remember my second Kenshi character. I'd try and knock out a hungry bandit and disarm him to use him as a punching bag. I'd heal him and mine copper while I waited for him to get up. I could usually do this for three ish knock outs before they'd be too beat up. And eventually Id let them keep their weapon so I could train toughness and dodge.
16:46 dude that's straight up DSP, 100%
You can prevent bandits from stealing an item when you're unconscious by picking it up with your mouse and holding it like you're going to put it elsewhere in your inventory. They might steal the rest but you can at least hold onto one thing.
Solo martial artists playthroughs are my absolute favorite.
Fight Club is literally the top thing on my recommended sidebar to this vid XD
"He's gonna dodge everything now"
“Stop, please, kick my ass!”
I know it may be a bit late to tell you this, but you can kidnap bandits when they are out and heal them, training your medic and then you can beat them up for the grind. Also take your food out of your inventory when a hungry bandit knocks you out
