How come I’ve never heard of Alfasoni? Where is that? What a store! It’s an unbelievable accomplishment to have created such a career from the basic desire to follow your passion. In a world of Taylor Swifts, Keith Urbans, Coldplays, etc., the little guy hasn’t a chance, but you’ve proven it is possible to have a fulfilling musicians life on the smaller stage. Very much full of all the work as the big boys, but on a scale that’s more balanced in your lifestyle. Incredibly cool that you are getting to devote your time to this path. ❤
not entirely true, you have to look harder for them tho, my wife and I have been Marillion fans for years, they let smaller unknown bands play first and some of them have been great and we made friends with them as well. the best thing is that they play in smaller venues with less people and more intimate atmosphere. the problem is the radio stations, they won't play prog rock, or long 10 min+ songs Ranestrane is 1 of those bands we follow around whenever they perform close to us. Riccardo Romano has his own band as well, we go to Arena whenever they are around...all smaller bands but with great artists. but like i said, you have to put in more effort to find them

In 2012 I went in to my local guitar shop to finally buy a Martin D-1 i had been playing once or twice a week for about a month when my friend and I would go to the music store. There were two identical spec D-1s, and someone was playing the one I wanted. So, while waiting, we noticed they had some new Taylor's in and picked them up to try. "Oh, shit..." was what came out of my mouth when I strummed a G chord for the first time. I played it for about 20 minutes, and then I bought it. Still own it to this day. I wanted to be a Martin player, but sometimes they just speak to you and completely change your mind
I’m a Salisbury local and also spent many hours in The music room shop before it closed. I’ve watched your journey and love your channel. Congratulations on making it on tour. Keep going keep connecting with your audience bravo.

Let us know Mary , I remember when I used to live my life around musicians traveling , and it was the smaller venues that were the most interesting because in the large venues you can get lost in the sea of people

The amount of preparation that is put into touring is immense; the amount of "just in case" things I take is mind boggling. 95% of the time, I don't need it, but I know what will happen if I leave such things behind. When providing production for a show, I often have panicked musicians saying "I've lost my guitar cable, do you have a spare?".... or "I left my mic at the last venue, can you lend me one...?". To all the musicians out there (especially those who are new to touring); try not to panic, the production folks among us will do our best to look after you.
Confused… no tour dates listed on the MS website! Saw Mary in a tiny pub in Manchester X years ago, didn’t enjoy the gig cos of stuff inside my head. Happier times now, want to go and enjoy Mary performing! Break a leg, Mary!

I've seen part two, so I know, but...I wouldn't be travelling with those guitars in a softcase unless I knew for sure I had permission from the airline to have them in the cabin. I've been around the block touring, and I know just how bad baggage handlers can be at UK airports. You can get custom full flight cases done for a lot cheaper than you think. A lot cheaper than mending a broken headstock on a guitar...which I have seen.
lol As we used to say........... You don't get paid to play your music,you get paid to load in set up tear down and load out and drive to the next gig!
Its fantastic & eye opening to follow an independent musician on tour. Is this your first tour that isn't in a supporting role for another artist/.band ?
I avoid such stores. Like a diabetic avoids confectioners. My wallet has diabetes, I'm an addict - it's just not good together. And since Corinna, among others, caused the largest store in Hamburg to close down, it's no longer possible to go on such a shopping spree on site anyway. I wish you a wonderful success on your tour.
