From the album: In Heat (SEPT 1983)
Cover Notes: just a fun tune to play...
The Romantics are an American rock band formed in 1977 in Detroit.
Talking In Your Sleep" is The Romantics' only Top-10 hit…reaching #3.
You've heard The Romantics' "What I Like About You", tons of times as it continues to get airplay but the song only made it to #49.
The two songs have since become mainstays on '80s, classic rock, AOR, and active rock radio stations.
Song Background:
Written by the band, this singer learns his lover's secrets when she reveals them in her sleep. Luckily for the guy, she says lots of nice things about him.
MTV helped boost The Romantics' success right around this time with videos of their songs.
Lead singer Jimmy Marinos said the video was filmed at 8:00 in the morning in Detroit, surrounded by girls in their jammies, at what was deemed "not really rock 'n' roll hours."
On December 24th 1983 the Romantics performed "Talking In Your Sleep" on the ABC-TV program 'American Bandstand
Mike Skill - bass guitar, backing vocals
Wally Palmar - lead vocals, rhythm guitar
Jimmy Marinos - vocals, drums
This is great! I love the bass in this song, it’s very noticeable and one of the bass sessions I always remember. And this cover is also just great! Keep up the good work man.
Hi- well, thank you and I totally appreciate the positive comment and view... sincerely all the best....thx!
I'm using your video to practice this song right now (: thank you!!!!
Also loved seeing this classic in the FNAF movie
Probably up there with the best comments I have received on this channel.. Thank you and all the best!
@@FRANKSBASSCOVERS it's such a fun song to practice! Not too difficult for beginners, but it's nice for me to take a break from only playing metal songs! 💕
this is so incredibely helpful for me as a bassist! i enjoy the visual guide and the tabs alongside. Keep up the great work!
Frannie- thank you and I am happy to hear they are of some benefit to you. Much appreciated and please continue to view/comment. 🎸
Har har har har har
thanks for the view!!
We've waiting every night to finally roam and invite, newcomers to play with us, for many years we've been all aloOooOne...
But seriously, amazing gem of the 80's, and amazing cover! You can't not love the funk of a good bassline
This is another bar band set list song. Good song choice Frank. I’ve always found the pauses in the bass line interesting. Nice playing as always Frank. Thanks for sharing.
Frank- another precise comment by you...as usual. I agree on the 'pauses'; it's a prime example of less is more. I tried some fills but it just doesn't fit. It's perfect how the bassist played it and sometimes the simple bass lines are the best.
love this song! have a new appreciation for the bass!
Some of the 80's songs were wicked on bass... check out Too Shy by Kajagoogoo... ridiculously amazing.
Nice, very nice cover on of my favorite songs from a 1980s "big hair band".
Much appreciated and welcome to the channel🎸
Good stuff!
This tab/notation mix is easy to follow!
I am happy to hear that; creating value for other musicians such as yourself is very rewarding. Thank you and please continue to view and comment soon...best!🎸
Sweet video setup , thank you Frank

thank you my friend....🎸
The fnaf movie brought me here to learn it
I'm flattered- hope it helps you! Thanks for watching and the comment.
Yea- me too!
What are your tone settings if you don't mind. I play guitar so I would use it on a guitar amp, hope it doesn't really impact how it sounds.
Hi - had to go back to listen again - from memory I wanted a "grungie' sound so I most likely had my tone midway but also added some overdrive with my MXR pedal. I say "some" since i have to be cautious on the volume of the cover. Since, it's a bass cover the bass is recorded way higher in volume and there is always the concern of it getting too muddy, etc. Also, I record direct to a DAW and don't use an amp. Thank you for the view and comment; hope that helps. :)
