      Not really because people generally compare a persons teen face to their nearly 30yo face and say “look at how much plastic surgery they’ve had” when all they did is grow up. It’s not always obvious and not always true. Your face changes until the day you die.

      @naritruwireve1381 5 років тому +143

      @@NTUNKNOWN Yeah I agree that it's usually obvious, and the only way to drastically change your appearance is with makeup and with tons of exercising to lose face fat. I'm not a doctor, but people always say it's puberty that gives people a sharper jawline, and while it's somewhat true, exercise is the most effective with losing fat and when you're an idol in the music industry to be specific, you exercise a _shit ton._ Plus it sounds off if someone only starts going through "puberty" at the age of 20

      I disagree. At its root, plastic surgery profits off of a person’s insecurities. They got plastic surgery because they think some part of them is ugly, or other people think they are ugly, and that industry takes advantage of that. Theres something wrong with it. People can do it, but its sad that they think they have to.

Kwanghee opened the path for 'cool' idols who can openly talk about them not being natural, with his joking ways that perhaps gave idea to other idols that they didn't have to approach the topic in such serious manner.

    I honestly never understood the backlash and hatred toward plastic surgery. People cry "love yourself! be happy how you were born," etc etc. Yet people don't see a huge problem with makeup, piercings, tattoos (now there is def negativity towards piercings (esp if they are not earrings) and tattoos - but i personally think people make a bigger issue over someone getting a nose job than having a nose piercing). I feel like though especially makeup is so transformative and you can really make yourself look different (hence people look up no make up pics of celebs). Maybe its because makeup isn't permanent and that's why people use that as a loophole in "loving yourself."
    Loving yourself does not mean being happy with everything about yourself just the way it is. We all have parts we should change (bad habits, personalities) and we are all allowed to have parts we want to change (hair color, nail color, clothing, makeup, piercing, tattoo, and yes plastic surgery). I don't understand why people brag "my idol never did plastic surgery" as if getting plastic surgery was something sinful or something that lowered one's status. It doesn't. If that's the case, then y'all better not be wearing makeup, trying to change your nails, or whatever.

    • @ellymax2993
      @ellymax2993 5 років тому +1

      Peircing. Tattoos. Makeup. All of it existed for many generations now. Most of it is part of a culture. It brands the people of their identity. Are you saying that we should backlash these norms that existed before half of the world was born? Plastic surgery is being scientifically designed for people who necessary needs them (accidents, deformities, etc.) not for beauty and stuff. your entire being is already good but because you are not contented you want to change it? That's why we can't have nice things in the world becuase we often ignore it and we can't keep ourselves satisfied of what we have. That's the difference between plastic surgery and tattoos, makeup, piercings.

It's their own life so they got what they wanted to do. I have a flat nose too. Not totally flat, but I don't have enough nose bridge. But I don't want to get it done. For me it was never about looks but confidence. If plastic surgery makes you confident than why the hell you have to care about others. It is your face, your life, your money. No one has right to say anything about it.
    I will be honest I don't care about my appearance but when I feel beautiful I am able to stand with my back straight.
    I sometimes do make up because I like it and feel like doing it. I sometimes go to school with ugly bed head and bare face because I m too lazy to give shit about it.
    I love myself the way I am but if I go under knife (not that I want or have resources to do it) IT WILL BE MY DECISION
    Another thing when people say you are beautiful they way you are it is easier to said than done. Not everyone has god gifted beauty and sometimes we like to hear these kind of compliments too (it is not a crime). No one says it in your face that you are ugly becuz they are too hypocrite to do that but they compare you to others which wore downs people's confidence. I m not bad looking but I always had been compared to my other more beautiful cousins so I know the pain. I overcame it so don't ever use the words: I and ugly, in one sentence

      The vast majority of people who get plastic surgery weren't confident in themselves in the first place... and I doubt it it truly improves their self-esteem. Hence why many of them keep finding more flaws in themselves and get more and more surgeries done. I respect peoples' decisions, but I think there's really no point of return when you start altering your body like that... once you 'fix' one imperfection there'll be ten more that jump out and you, and they'll keep bothering you until you do another operation, then another... again, this doesn't happen to everyone, but I think it's more common than you think.
      Tbh, one of my friends might be getting plastic surgery in the future and that would make me so sad... I've known her since we were 7 and she's always had a low-esteem, if she gets into plastic surgery I know she will never be happy with her body. And many bad things will probably happen to her after that.
      As a role model, I believe mamamoo are a great example of a confident group that don't conform to others' expectations, especially Hwasa. They always do things their own way, while putting in 110%. They embrace who they are rather than changing themselves to fit other peoples' standards. Perfection doesn't exist, and I feel like that's what many people are chasing after when they do plastic surgery.
