Isn't it amazing that we have entire boxes full with dozens of lures in different shapes, patterns and sizes but 90 percent of the time we go to 5 or 6 that we rely on. That C factor you talked about in a past video catches a lot of fish👍👍
i have learned, by my good friends dave Christian n tony grant at cave run, a way to trigger those picky bites when bucktails etc stop working. and its one of my go toos..... but i use one of joes big muskie spinerbaits.. ill slow roll it till its getting close to boat. then i quickly pull up on rod and reel the lure straight up. i have got some hogs doing that. something about the fast change in speed and direction that makes em hit that kill button. hope it helps someone get a hogg.....
I've had a slop master since I'm not sure how long - the year they came out (90's) ... fabulous bait - my favorite spring spinner. And after 30 years, I lost the thing last year (don't ask). Hopefully I can find one in a local store. Twitching the shallow raider has also been good for me. Thank you Joe. Your advice is sage and much appreciated.
Every early summer toothies crush the 5" shallow raider on the pause. I'll be using that technique throughout the year with that bait with my downsizer strategy.
I realize small baits coming out of spawn is key, but man sometimes I throw bigger anticipating that attack on bigger baits. I do use small baits but I need to key in on utilizing them more often👍
Agree. A big one could crush a big bait anytime. But the point I am making in this vid is that big ones along with numbers are all bound to hit the small lure early season.
I think you’ve stumbled on a new lure product to sell in your online store! 4 to o 6 different Cup O’ Lures and other stiffener colour variations would be a hot seller for sure!
I wish I could have any confidence in my local lake, especially this time of year. I’ve never had a bite or follow on a spinnerbait or inline spinner, regardless of season. My tigers don’t seem to play by the rules.

Spot on! 👌
That single hook on the slop master really pins them!
Yes! It sure does Matt. That’s a special 8/0 hook we have made for that lure that mimics the best smaller bass spinnerbaits. 👌

😀 Thanks! Good luck this season. Slopmaster spinnerbaits are available in a lot of stores all over North America.
Timely. You just hooked me on a couple more baits
Well then. Let’s hope it results in a couple more muskies! 👍

thanks for the tips . when do you consider it to be the spring season in n. wi?
Great question. It sure varies from one season to the next, but the month of May is surely spring musky season as well as early June.
