Exactly what I was thinking. This is like a Dutch Baby only savory instead of sweet, and you preheat the pan for those if memory serves. You can use a cast iron skillet to make a regular pizza as well. Works like a pizza steel and better than a stone, and you don’t need extra equipment. Preheat the skillet in a 500°F oven. Roll out your dough so it’s a little bigger than the skillet and flour both sides so it doesn’t stick. Pull the skillet out of the oven and set it on a medium burner. Spray with high temp oil (I use avocado). Flop the crust into the skillet and arrange it with tongs - they tend to flop over onto themselves and you don’t want a calzone. Add a light layer of sauce, Parmesan and or Romano, ice cold full fat low moisture mozzarella (you want it cold so it won’t split in the heat of the oven and release grease) plus any toppings that can take high heat. I recommend going easy on the cheese, altho I don’t always. Place back in the 500° oven for 3-4 minutes, then crank up the broiler and place the pizza under the broiler for 2-4 minutes until done (keep an eye on it - it can go from perfect to a greasy mess in less than a minute). Remove from the broiler and use a spatula to remove from the scalding hot pan (watch yourself). I place it on a wire rack or use wadded up bits of paper towel to elevate the crust above the cutting board so it won’t get soggy. Let it firm up for a moment before cutting. You’ll get a crispy browned crust and even leopard spotting, like from a traditional pizza oven, without all the hassle and equipment.

I don’t think cast iron skillets are a good idea for anyone not experienced in baking things because they will cause severe burns in SECONDS if you aren’t extremely careful.Using them since I was young with my grandma’s supervision, I still blistered myself many times. Probably from being left handed while my grandma was right handed. Over the years I learned to be ambidextrous because I had to adapt to the world 🌎. I love cast iron but am cautious…
This was awesome! Due to my family's dietary restrictions, I made it with Cup4Cup gluten free AP flour and only 1/2 the salt. I also did a half recipe in a 9-inch cake pan and it turned out great! It was actually a bit bready, too -- maybe it filled up the pan a little more than in Emmy's cast iron pan. It was thin crust, but not paper thin. Next time, after baking the crust and adding toppings, I'll move it to a wire rack in the oven so it can crisp up a bit more in the middle. And, believe me, there will be a next time for this recipe! And a next, and a next, and a next....

I hope that's not Barilla pasta sauce you're using. I stopped using their products years ago, due to them being homophobic bigots. P.S. I love your videos!
If you omit the herbs, that batter is the classic Yorkshire pudding that we love in the UK. It's got to be light, airy and puffed up. We also put sausages in it and bake in the oven to make toad in the hole, another British classic. It's also what our pancakes are made from, so it's a very versatile recipe. I usually eat mine with onion gravy and mashed potato, so not sure about pizza toppings.
I had no idea Yorkshire pudding was a flat, bready kind of thing lol I always pictured it as a desert trifle, maybe because pudding is a dessert thing here in the states.
@@katelillo1932 I don't even know why we call it pudding because we usually call dessert "pudding" here anyway, but I know pudding in the US is like, an actual dessert like chocolate pudding and not just another name for dessert 🤣

I LOVE IT WHEN YOU PUT UP NEW VIDEOS, EMMY. THANK YOU FOR DOING ITTTTT
SURE THING!!!
@@emmymade sorry for the caps, i get excited when i see you post new videos
"Remember this is your pizza. You put whatever you like on your pizza"
This is the positivity i needed today
Hi Emmy! Please make pupusas 🤗
I used to make a pizza similar to this in the early 1990’s. It seems like bisquick had a recipe for an impossible pizza pie. I had forgotten about that until I saw your video. Thank you. I will be hunting for that recipe. God Bless.
Fun to see this on your channel. I first saw it on Miz Lori's channel and here it is made by you, wow!!! Thank you, Emmy!
Does anyone say "tootaloo byyyyyyye" at the same time as her? No just me? I swear I come here just to hear her say bye the way she does. So freaking cute lol
Thank you for being our culinary guinea pig Emmy. I have one of those small ovens. They are bomb and cook much faster than a standard oven.
Found you on Facebook and went on a triathlon watching your videos. I love them!
I keep hearing "deplorable pizza".
I heard “horrible pizza” partway into the video 😆
and considering her mediocre response to it...probably accurate lol. I'm thinking it was a hot pan of disappointment
I hope that's not Barilla pasta sauce you're using. I stopped using their products years ago, due to them being homophobic bigots. P.S. I love your videos!
I'm been craving pizza because I saw clips of beerus from dragon ball eating it. I'm gonna try this tomorrow
As soon as I saw the batter I knew it was a Yorkshire pud! Can’t beat toad in the hole, mash and onion gravy! It’s my fave comfort food!
Whippoorwill Holler is a favorite of mine to watch 🤗💕
Am I the only one screaming at my screen: "Its a savoury dutch baby!!"
That's exactly what it is.
You aren't wrong
It's basically pizza toppings on Yorkshire pudding. That sounds good to me!
When you can’t eat junk so you just get satisfied watching these videos but then realize you’re probably going to eat something crappy afterwards anyway😂😂😭.
I saw they make pizzas with crepes around Asia. Such as Vietnam and India with I believe dosa which is a crepe I guess I really want to try them since they aren’t technically pizzas but are...😂
Try using a tortilla, with some salsa as a "pizza sauce" and some cheese, just pop it under the grill / in the oven for a few mins and then you have lower carb version of a pizza! ♡
@@Jade-fs9kh haha I’ve heard of this.. will try!!
@@shivyy0438 it was actually super yummy 😍 I'm gonna try it with a pitta bread instead next week with some salad as a meal ☺
@@Jade-fs9kh I’m gonna try making it real spicy and yea I’m gonna try to twirl it up a little lol probably add a lot more cilantro too
It's basically a Dutch baby/oven pancake made into pizza. I do something similar often actually
Emmy!!! Could you create the 5 minuet microwaved cake by Emma’s goodies?
emmy is lactose intolerant - probably did not want to take medicine just to have a quick lunch. or does she dislike lots of cheese on her pizza? can't remember, maybe it's both, she's a pretty health conscious lady after all:)
It's like you made a Yorkshire pudding and put pizza toppings on it. I think I'll stick with my homemade crust.
I so want to see you make cold hotdog pie pleeeaaassseeeeeee
I just made a hamburger helper sushi on my channel, it was quite fun, you would enjoy trying it out!!!!
What do you mean "not a ton of cheese?" 🧀🧀
Thanks for this one. I have invited more seasoning and origano into it for more flavor. Mine was small tomato.cheese peperroni with mozarella and grana padano cheese. My "pro cooking" friend said it was good. Colder even better. I see many other ideas with this recipe.. like cake layered or tortilla.like bites pizza. Simple and fun!
I love her recipes and the way she presents herself. This lady is so chill and relatable.
Where do you get all these crazy ideas? haha
This is so original and this is so inspiring! 😂😍🔔
honestly would love to try !
I miss your kitchen. This seems way more like a set. What I liked about your channel is it felt less staged and more like hanging out with a friend. Lately it's felt more staged.
"Pizza Ducky Moss!"
Nice. It looks like a savoury German pancake! Since you have the cast iron skillet already warmed, you might as well make the German pancake for dessert! =)
Oouu never this early.
Not sure if this was already mentioned, but what if you used the entire batter? Would that have bulked up your crust?
“PIZZA FACE.” :P
Just a disclaimer: there no such thing as italian seasoning in italy 😅 love this recipe!
sasha rama yes there is, you just don’t call it that, you just call the ingredients by their names. do you know what Italian seasoning is?
@@cryosteam3944 we tend to use those herbs separately.
sasha rama ohhhhhkay sure you do
@@cryosteam3944 ?🤔
Imagine Chef John and Emmy collaborating.

Brilliant , I just love your videos , Greetings from South Korea. We eat these for breakfast its like a big Yorkshire or Dutch Pancake. , Emmy ( I have a recipe) You will love making this and it makes a great dessert Or a part 2 to this video😉❤️
