    hi rob do you have any images of captains lane the footbridge built for mill workers they named newbridge lane after the bridge i played on that bridge with my cousain age 8 my aunty lived on alpine brew these are lovely pics thanks please reply from a true stopfordian isnt it sad to see our town souless 😥

    Can anyone remember Fred Daws tv rental in Marsey Square this was where Debnams were. Everything changed the river Mersey flooded the square Also on Church gate there was terrace houses and bakery in one of the house called Thachers. On the side of the. Church there’s a passage which goes down to the steps And there was gas works and Burriels colors factories . There is car park on Church gate just the back was also terrace houses In one of the house aman killed himself by putting his head in oven on the gas cooker This was on one weekend because we had one room where we use to put all the boards and creates and terresells in order to sett the stalls the stall was outside the church Called Ahmed’s Nylon stall we sold nylons and socks gloves later we bought shop next to Church carpets and did well the shop next to our shop was called Audries dolls clothes the father name was mr PEerson and was nice with us The laundry on the sid of Travis Brow was brought for fees years we ran the laundry then the building was not safe and was demolished made Very large building costing over two hounded thousand Named Ahmed’s of Stockport Children’s wear for school s and latest knitwear and branded named jeans also shoes were sold Sadly the business went down and had to wind the business down

    the name of the bridge rob was captains bridge thanks
