Fixing a Leaky Prier Outdoor Faucet

My outdoor (Prier) faucet has been leaking from the handle and spraying up against the wall of the house. I was able to get a Prier complete Reb build kit from Amazon and this video shows the rebuild of the spigot.

Thank you for posting this video. I had issues with both of my outdoor Prier faucets. One slowly dripped and the other slowly dripped and sprayed from the handle. I got a quote from a local plumber via Yelp and they wanted to charge $600.00 to fix both. I bought two Prier kits off of Amazon (Prier C-144KT-807 Parts Kit for Style Prier C-144) for $38.26 total and fixed them both myself thanks to your video. Each job took about 10-20 minutes. I'm a newish homeowner and was intimidated by this project, but it really wasn't hard at all. I now have the confidence to do this again in the future and recommend others to do it themselves as well. Both faucets now work perfectly!

Thanks for the video. A bunch of dirt and small rocks got washed into my water system. The result was tearing up the seat washer and backflow preventer hood on both my Prier hose bibs. Once the replacement parts arrive I will use your video to get them fixed.

I had this same problem and bought this repair kit. It turns out I didn't need the kit. I just needed to tighten the valve stem cap with a crescent wrench. This should be the first thing you try. At 6:20 minute, I put a little waterproof grease on packing material and on the stem so handle turns smoothly.

How do you know whether you need the Prier C-134, c-144 or c-164 repair kit?

Thanks for the comment. I believe that the 134 doesn’t have the built in vacuum breaker(bulge on top of the spigot). I think the kit I got works for both the 144 and 164.

Not that difficult at all. Just don't overtighten anything and put some silicon on threads and screws to remove easy next time.
